2007-04-19 Thread Christian Veith
Thank´s all for your help.

I think i´m going the easiest way with my mini pci card. Send it back to
the online shop and order something fully supported ;) (without
propietary microcode and such nonsens).

Again. Thanks for your help! That´s why i love pfSense :)

kind Regards

Christian

Maybe I'm wrong, but one of the first intel ABG cards was based on a
5212 chip, thought it was the 2915 but maybe not. Been a while since i
last tried out the intel cards.

Probabily for the licence of the driver...

In FreeBSD 6.2 this driver come with distribution, but for use it, you
need a line in /boot/loader.conf (I don't sure is in this file...).

That's not an Atheros card. It should be supported by the iwi driver
though, we must not have that in the pfsense kernel for some reason?
Maybe this is why, from the iwi(4) man page:

This driver requires firmware to be loaded before it will work.
You need

to install the ports/net/iwi-firmware-kmod port before ifconfig(8) will
work.

It's my fault I forgot to gunzip the file before using the script.

It must be:

please see my email about releng_1 being somewhat unstable right now.
also, see the many emails on "roll your own, you're on your own". I'd
expect that anyone running their own builds is following the CVS tree
and is planning on actually submitting patches for the bugs they find.

Also, we haven't released a snapshot with that code in it, so I'm not
actually expecting any bug reports on it as of yet.

Hi, my webConfigurator failed to start after a new installation (newly
compiled binary). The error messages found in the system log are:

Error: cannot determine root pwd in sync_webgui_passwords(). Root user
struct follows:
Unable to determine root user!

users are missing

I am not sure whether these made the webConfigurator to fail but these
are the only suspicious messages.

Re: [pfSense Support] Ways to measure usage

2007-04-19 Thread Jonathan Wanak
I don't need perfect accuracy. My intention is to have an "early warning
system" that my usage is getting close to the max. An error margin of 10% will
be fine, and from your figures, the error is well within this range.

Thanks,

Jon Wanak

The older the data the more it is "rounded". This happens as the
database of the RRD graphs is not growing out of size but is using some
roundrobin logic to store the additional information. This way it even
works on embeddeds with limited storage for long uptimes without filling
the cfmedia up.

I'm using server with 1000MB RAM but after a few month i got msg
"acknowledge all, [pfsense memory requirements]. Pfsense requires at
least 128MB RAM. Expected unusual performance. This platform is not
supported."

It make my server performances very slow. How to solve its. FYI, im
using captive portal for auth. wireless. Make log read 50. So, what
should i tweak get batter performances? Its is because of i thik to "Use
device polling" or untick/tick to "Disable writing log files to the
local ram disk"

Please help me.

Re: [pfSense Support] Changing from ad0 to ad2

2007-04-19 Thread Tom Müller-Kortkamp

Hello Josep,

I would write the img-file to flash, start and just load up the
config (which you downloaded before)

otherwise you have to change ad0 to ad2 in /etc/fstab
