I suppose that you're talking about this web page:

Right now, it's working for me. I suppose that your issue was just a
temporary issue that has been fixed by now.

Facebook will not be included in Pidgin itself because facebook working
on a XMPP/Jabber interface. When this is finished, Pidgin will support
Facebook natively, just like any other XMPP/Jabber service.

There are two possible plugins you can use, Pidgin-libnotify (only

You need to enable a theme in Guifications. Additionally, different themes
do show the content of messages (and I believe it's configurable).

Is any kind of non-standard file system used? A network file system, for
example? Everything is stored in the folder "%APPDATA%\.purple", so if
that gets deleted or altered, so do the accounts.

I have no idea what you're talking about, really, but what I took away
from it is:

1) You don't like the formatting of Pidgin support list emails,
2) You're reading them through gmane,
3) You're using some sort of Microsoft software to do this.

We don't support gmane. We don't use gmane. We don't support
Windows Live Mail, nor use it. I suggest you sign up for the support
list using an email address, and read it in a traditional mailreader.

If one of my conclusions is wrong, please clarify and we will try to
help.

Your "security" settings aren't really reasonable - being unable to
download executables at all isn't really a security solution (as you
can see here - it prevents you from being able to apply security
related changes).

At any rate, there is a win32 binary zip file available from the
sourceforge downloads section (http://sf.net/projects/pidgin) where
all our downloads are hosted.

Hi again,

Which protocols are you seeing no buddies for? Are you actually connected
to the accounts (see in Accounts->Manage Accounts... From the buddy list)
and set to Online/Available in the buddy list?

What protocols are you unable to connect to? You might need to email though
a debug log from Help->Debug Window as you reconnect to the account to be
able to see what's going on with things and work out why you aren't seeing
any buddies.

Also make sure you cc in the support@ mailing list in case someone else is
able to help with your problem.

Re: Pidgin support: Hangouts authorization code for scope access denied (oAuth 2.0)

2016-08-31 Thread Eion Robb
Hi Cedric,

The Google servers made a change as of a day or two ago and no one's yet
worked out what url we should be using for auth now.

Unfortunately the bitbucket tracker for the plugin is offline due to spam
problems, but if you keep an eye on
https://github.com/tdryer/hangups/issues/260 that's probably the closest
way to see progress. (please refrain from any "me too" posts there though
as that's not the actual issue tracker for the Pidgin plugin)

If you had previously been using it successfully and still have access to
the old config, you could take the access/refresh token from the hangouts
section of the ~/.purple/accounts.xml file on the working install and paste
that into the accounts.xml file in the new install (while Pidgin isn't
running)

Otherwise we'll have to wait until someone (or me) finds the new auth url
to use.

Cheers,
Eion

Hello,
I have spent almost 6 hours trying to learn more on my issue with Hangouts.
It seems that quite a few users on the Google "Support" Forums, have the
same access token authorization problem with Google, when trying to enable
the Hangouts account from the Pidgin client.
Curiously, there is not a hint of a solution given anywhere, where I peeked.

After mining the web and reading on the API and the oAUth 2.0 credential
authorization protocol to receive an access code, I am left with very
little to go with. Repeatedly requesting an access code past the 25 refresh
token limit per account and per client has adverse effects. I could not
find out _what_ effects those were and how to circumvent them. I think I
have not gone beyond that limit just yet, but I am sure not going to
request one again, before being clear on what the problem is and how to
solve it...

Maybe someone will find the time to nudge me in the right direction.
For reference I am working from a clean Pidgin install after having flushed
it from my Ubuntu 14.04.4 Desktop, including the ~/.purple directory.

My other plugins are:
 - pidgin-twitter (does not appear to be functional as it does not show in
the account protocols' list ),
 - purple-skypeweb (works well),
 - telegram-Purple (works well).

Cheers,
-ced
