SeaMonkey 2.0.13 is the current official (and most stable) version.
This is the version you should install.

Go to this page:

http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.0.13/

This page will provide information about the current Seamonkey release
and instructions about how to upgrade from Mozilla. You will find the
link to download SeaMonkey 2.0.13 from the column list on the left hand
side of the page.

Please post here again if you need further help upgrading from Mozilla
to SeaMonkey. One hint: before performing the upgrade, make sure you
have a current back up of your Mozilla profile, just in case something
goes wrong during the upgrade.

My _guess_ would be that it is added by your ISP and/or your antivirus
software. SeaMonkey (as far as I know) does not add that ([!! SPAM])
into any header or subject line.

BTW: you might want to upgrade from:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US;
rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090825 SeaMonkey/1.1.18
That's a pretty insecure version of SeaMonkey. See:

Using Lightning with shared calendars (Linux)

2011-03-24 Thread Bill Davidsen
Is there any documentation which doesn't assume you are using Windows or that
you knew the answer before you asked the question? I would like to set up a site
calendar and use a google calender, which would be a total of three, the UID on
the local machine, the shared calendar for the site on all my machines, and my
google calendar.

I do not have windows, exchange, Microsoft software, or any desire to change
that. I find (really) about 100 links telling me to select
new->calendar->network and the location of the calendar, but no way to guess
what location or format it wants, or where google stores their calendar. I can
skip that and run my own on site if I can find out what the calendar server
program is.

Is this (a) very hard, or (b) documented by Windows people and gurus?

That sounds as if it's an SNI error[1].

In about:config check for:

security.enable_ssl2

If it is set to 'true' reset it to it's default setting of 'false' & try
again.

Re: New browser attack - check your Seamonkey config

What's up with this?

This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked SeaMonkey to connect
securely to blog.torproject.org, but we can't confirm that your
connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.

Technical Details

blog.torproject.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:
  *.opendns.com , opendns.com

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

I Understand the Risks

SM 2.0.12 Mac - Bug?..

2011-03-24 Thread Rufus
Ok...interesting one. If I have a download in progress and close the
browser window, leaving the download progress pane up, the Browser
Taskbar disappears and I can't open a new Browser window, Mail window,
etc. - not only are the drop menu items from the missing Taskbar not
displayed, keyboard shortcuts won't work either.

I finally got a new Browser window up my selecting "About Seamonkey"
from the remaining SM main menu - which was the only one displayed.
Otherwise I would have had to quit and restart SM - losing my huge in
progress download and having to start over...

Dunno if this is a "bug" or not, but I've never seen this happen if a
download is/was *not* in progress - the Taskbar stays up even though
there is no Browser window...this smacks of being related to what I've
seen of SM freezing if a download is in progress and a "random" request
for the Master Password comes up.

Spoofing with SM 2.1

2011-03-24 Thread David E. Ross
I am using SM 2.0.12. My bank's Web site is sniffing for "Firefox" in a
strange way.

   Gecko/20110123 SeaMonkey/2.0.12, NOT Firefox/3.6.15

   Gecko/20110123 SeaMonkey/2.0.12 Firefox/3.6.15
(without the ", NOT"), I still have a problem.

If I use the UA string
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15)
   Gecko/20110303 Firefox/3.6.1
or the UA string
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.17)
   Gecko/20110123 NOT Firefox/3.6.15 BUT INSTEAD
   SeaMonkey/2.0.12,
the problem goes away.

Apparently "Firefox" has to be found before "SeaMonkey".

What is the sequence for SM 2.1? If it has "SeaMonkey" before
"Firefox", how can I switch them?

Can't point you to definative documentation, but perhaps this will help:

Helps vastly. I think there are a few other things there, if you are asked if
remote images are wanted or if the message is a scam, I *think* that answer is
saved, so you don't get asked on a reread.

I did not research the hell out of that, just noted that you only get asked once
AFAIK.

System is SM 2.0.12 on Win 7 x64 system.

Earlier today I just noticed that sometime in the recent past
my address books must have been deleted. i.e. I noticed that older
addresses in both my personal and collected addresses were gone.
I have restored older versions of abook.mab and history.mab from
backup and placed them under new names abook-xxx.mab and
history-xxx.mab in my profiles folder.
Now I'd like to know how to merge the entries in abook-xxx.mab
and history-xxx.mab into the current abook.mab and history.mab

It's easy in Linux or OSX, have no idea in Windows other than the previously
mentioned manual picking of addresses.

But for the Linux/OSX folks:

If you save the address books to be merged in {tab} format instead of LDIF, you
can then use the command line "sort" command, with the "-u" option to delete
duplicates, and get a merged list which you can import. I use the {tab} because
I might have a comma in a comment, etc, or a display name from captured addresses.

No, that was kind of a surprise. All of mine are set that way now, though.

That trip to FF did not last long. Finding and using downloads was
fine but the top bars got too confusing and that was compounded by
overeager pushing of all kinds of wonderful add ons/ins and plugs. So,
back to SM's browser normally and use FF for those pages where a
website has trouble with SM.
