Note that I am not an employee, and do this and work on this, in 
strictly my free time, and out of pure passion for the product.

In my 2.6.1, you need not launch a composition window or type anything. 
Just do CTRL-wheel and it varies the font size. When you reply, the 
setting is remembered and the composition window opens with the 
larger/smaller font.

Note that Explorer shows the full path in the status bar at top, so if
you want to go "up" just click on any element of the path and it'll jump
right to it. If you're five levels down and want to go up three, one
click instead of three is more efficient.

Also better to view folders under the "Libraries" heading because
display options stick there, whereas if you view them directly under
C:\Users\yadayada... you have to customize each and every folder and it
keeps forgetting the sort order.

to grips with the crazy Explorer that has ditched an "Up"

With XP having a shelf-life of about eighteen months now,
I am no longer terrified at the idea of having to upgrade
all my machines to Win/7, and I really /do/ like the idea
of running multiple VMs so that a virus in one cannot
affect the others (i.e., keep one VM for secure transactions,
one for general surfing, one for risky stuff), and use
the base Win/7 64-bit platform only for non-networking
activities.

2) Don't give up with your new Gateway : we're all rooting for you !

LOL!  Thanks, Phil.  After reading my third Gateway forum, I found where 
you can "customize" your DPI settings above the one... 125% option shown 
in the basic settings.


I can now read headings, toolbars, and icons... but I'm back to my same 
old problem with the new SM 2.7 fonts in composing mail and viewing some 
web sites.  I'll keep working on it though.  Thanks for the good wishes.  :)

Thanks for testing David. Yes, I did try both in safe mode, and with a
completely new profile - had the same results on two two different linux
machines (one 32bit, one 64bit), and one Windows XP Pro SP3.

I guess the question still remains why Firefox 10.0 works, but SeaMonkey
2.7 didn't. I'll need to put a sniffer on the wire and see if I can
figure out the difference.

flexibility previously available in Windows O/S.




If you had the below equipment where would you go to find out what to do? 
Gateway [mfr] or Intel or Microsoft? Considering I am a novice... that is.


Start with Gateway : they will know the limitations of their LCD
display.  If they say "the LCD panel can handle it : it must be
the driver or the video adapter", talk to Intel.

resolution to mine.

I suspect all the Win7 adjustments being inaccessible are due to this
ability to link to TV adapters, which I don't care about.  I want to see
what is on my computer screen.  :)

broadbandreports.com.  However, a DNS lookup did not indicate either is

They didn't bother to change everything when it became Broadband 
Reports.  Don't know why.




I just now used broadbandreports.com to test via Flash through servers
in Toronto, Los Angeles, and Washington (DC) and via Java through
servers in Palo Alto and Parsippany.


That's what I could do on my 6 yr. old laptop easily.  ;)   I may be 
sticking with it longer than I expected, because of other problems.  :)

Close SeaMonkey then Ctrl-Alt-Del and look at Running processes. See if 
SeaMonkey is still running. If so, End Task and re-start SeaMonkey to

If not, have a look at Tools->Switch Profiles and see if you have more 
profiles than you expect. If so, switch to the other profiles to see if 
your missing mail is there.


Report back.
