If I open a SM Mail "Reply" or "Compose" window,

click out of it and then click back.

I can reproduce it back to SM 2.8.

This started after using my Mini Display Port to drive a TV so obviously
it's Mac specific. I can cure this by restarting without the TV hooked up,
but it comes back.

Hi,

I think it's the same issue I saw with my iMac 24" (OSX Snow Leo), and after
a lot of testing with the help of some people on the SeaMonkey IRC channel,
I think it happens depending on the graphic card you have installed.

My iMac is a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
graphic card is an NVIDIA GeoForce 8800 GS (512MB)

What graphic card do you have in the MacBookPro ?

Installing on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

2012-05-28 Thread Cruz, Jaime
I'm having some problems getting Seamonkey "properly" installed on
Ubuntu. Full disclosure: I'm a "Linux n00b."

I did the installation from http://www.seamonkey-project.org/ but it
just created a "Seamonkey" folder in my home directory. I discovered
that if I click on the rather generic-looking "seamonkey" object in that
folder, it will launch BUT, I can't figure out how to make it my default
browser and mail/newsgroup client (instead of Firefox/Thunderbird which
comes pre-installed).

This page seems outdated:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SeaMonkey

Seamonkey is not recognized in the Ubuntu Software Center, and the
command line info doesn't work for the same reason.

In "small words" only, how can I get this thing "properly" installed and
working so I don't have to open my "home" folder, then open the
"seamonkey" folder and double-click "seamonkey." I'd like to be able to
just launch it from the launchbar like I can Firefox.

Thanks.

Again, works for me. It looks to me like you are runing beta 1 -
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20120511
Firefox/13.0 SeaMonkey/2.10

You might want to give beta 2 a try & see if it still gives you problems:

Note: 64 bit linux builds do auto update between versions - you need to

2.10 is only beta quality right now. It can contain bugs that will be
fixed until the final 2.10 is released - and in fact at least one bug
(concerning bookmarks drag & drop AFAIR) is known which is in the latest
2.10 Beta 2 and which will only be fixed in 2.10 Beta 3.

To sum it up, you can safely install a beta version, but be prepared to
face some issues.

How do I stop compact folders from appearing after deleting a

There's a checkbox under Preferences/Mail & Newsgroups/Network &
Storage/Disk Space. Use it to disable automatic compacting altogether.

That's not going to happen. In the rapid release train world, any beta

the last since we need a 2.10b3 to fix at least one known regression),
so beta builds have the requirement to be indistinguishable from release

That sounds like you have your Preference set to ask for he Master at

required, SM should not ask you for your Master at launch unless you
have something on your Home Page that requires a stored password.

If the above is not true about your settings, then you are seeing a
different problem than I am, but similar in that SM is seemingly
ignoring your Preference setting as is the case with my installs.

Live Bookmarks

2012-05-28 Thread Neil
Does anyone use Live Bookmarks? They have been broken for a few months
(even betas are now affected) because Firefox rewrote them to improve
startup time, and I've very recently landed a frontend patch that will
at least get them working again. (They don't show up as
unvisited/visited yet, but that's a straightforward enhancement now.) I
would appreciate it if people could try them out using tonight's (or
possibly last night's) nightly.

Note that there is at least one "known issue" with the new livemark
backend, and that is that you can't open all live bookmark items into
tabs from the bookmarks toolbar. (You can from the bookmarks manager,
but only by selecting them all, rather than from the live bookmark
container.)

No. It's beta, by definition beta software is "not ready." You want
safety, OR you want pre-release versions. Don't ever count on having both.

With that said, Mozilla software rarely achieves the beta stage with
serious dataloss bugs. So it's not THAT risky.

Yes - it should only ask for it the once, and that's what happens if I
enter it. What really sucks is that if SM requests my Master during a
download or other activity in progress SM freezes and I have to Force
Quit and loose the session.

I'm not set up to auto-check e-mail, or have Mail/news open on launch,
my ISP doesn't require a password for usenet access or use of my
outgoing SMTP server, nor does my Home Page require a password. So I
shouldn't be getting a request for my Master unless I navigate to a page
which requires a password or open Mail/News and select Get Mail and it
is needed for the "first time" per my Preference setting.

...and yet...there it is again.

I'm getting a very odd problem with SM 2.10b2. When I open SM I use

If I go directly to the mail window, select 'Inbox' on any one of my

changes to a Drag & Drop (DD) and can no longer be used - in SeaMonkey,

This looks to be

Re: suddenly, I cannot print from SM

2012-05-28 Thread Michael Gordon

Norman Fuchs wrote:

I am no longer able to print anything on my printer from SM: not an
email, not a web page. It is not my printer, as I can print word
documents from Word and pdf files from Foxit. I said "on my printer"
because, as I have CutePDF installed, I can print to a pdf file.

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:12.0) Gecko/20120429
Firefox/12.0 SeaMonkey/2.9.1

I have created a new profile, which I called "test," and if I start SM
using that profile, I can print normally. I don't know what to do next.
Could someone please help?

From your original profile, when you click the print button you should
see a printer dialog box that allows you to select a printer, and maybe
some properties.

What happens when you select print preview?

Note: 64 bit linux builds do auto update between versions - you need to
download & install/reinstall directly.

Should be "do not auto update".

i read what you meant... but my install tells me its a beta2... so i'll
wait for three...
