I can't see how to lock that in with User Agent Switcher. I want everything else to default to Seamonkey. The other thing that would be nice is to easily toggle between two different user agents. The one for SM and the FireFox one for the same Geko revision as easily as I do with AutoPlay. Is there a way to do either of these? Am I just an idiot on using User Agent Switcher? Add to prefs.js ... user_pref("general.useragent.override.google.com", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0"); I use this for chase.com which is ignorant of SM and tells me to upgrade my browser. -- Ed Mullen http://edmullen.net/ Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

I can't see how to lock that in with User Agent Switcher. I want everything else to default to Seamonkey. PrefBar adds an additional toolbar, which allows for getting to a wide variety of settings via that toolbar. User Agent prefs are one of the options, and if enabled, you can click on a drop-down, and choose the UA that you want. I've always been mildly annoyed that the default prefs haven't been updated in years, but if you're doing spoofing, you generally have to make periodic updates to your browser strings, anyway. For what it's worth, with the transition of Firefox to WebExtensions, development of both User Agent Switcher and PrefBar have ended. I know that if you go to PrefBar's support page, they have pointers to other Firefox extensions that replicate many (but not all) of the functions included in PrefBar. I know that with my Firefox installation, I've been playing with a lot of extensions, to find which WebExtensions that I want, especially ones that are functional equivalents of things I currently do with my extensions in Seamonkey. Although I know that Seamonkey will support the old extension system for a while longer, the end of Firefox 52.x ESR is coming, and the Seamonkey devs won't be able to maintain code based on that much beyond that. Thus, I want to be prepared for how I want to work, once the ability to use several preferred extensions ends. With that in mind, I've found that User Agent Masquerade best fits what I'm doing (and seems to be reasonably close in procedure to what I currently do with PrefBar). There are also ones called "User Agent Switcher" and "User-Agent Switcher" that seem to be usable. The latter one is interesting, in that it seems to have a dynamically updated list of practically any valid browser that's been used any time over a remarkable period of time, dating all the way back to the original Mozilla, Netscape, and for all I know, even Mosaic (I don't currently have that on enabled). To me, it seems that the intention on that one is compatibility testing by web page developers, although to me, the number of options is kind of overwhelming, and I'm not sure I see an easy way of editing your own strings (occasionally, I will deliberately use something invalid, for testing purposes). One thing that your request implies is the idea of allowing the changing of the user agent dynamically (e.g., if you go to www.example.com, that you always use a particular UA there). As far as I'm aware, there aren't any tools that will do that. The best you can do is to change the UA on the fly, either before you navigate to a page in a particular domain, or resetting it as soon as you arrive. And something that you also have to remember is to reset back to your normal default when you've finished interacting at that site. For good measure, if you have multiple tabs open, I think your UA setting is going to be global, and not something that you can apply on a per-tab basis. hundreds of duplicate emails - SM 2.49.2 bug or server problem?
In the past few weeks I have been encountering cases when one or more of my six active email accounts suddenly has hundreds, in some cases thousands, of duplicate emails. I am able to deal with this the remove duplicates add-in, but it is annoying. Is anyone else encountering this? The accounts are on Verizon and Yahoo, so since they merged for email all based on the same servers. DoctorBill Could be Fake News (sorry, couldn't help it) but also try updating to 2.49.2: https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/2.49.2 Downloading now..Thanks. Fake News - what's that ? I believe EVERYTHING that CNN says ! BTW - IS SeaMonkey essentially dead ? Not being supported of improved anymore ? Saw a post here about that ! Not quite dead. I'm using a 2.53 x64 made by Frank-Rainer that's been stable but not all the bells and whistles are working. A 2.49.3 is coming in the not too distant future which should be based off 52.7ESR once it gets finalized. There's not that many people working on it (3? 4? 10?) so updates come slower than before. It also didn't help when all the GUI and Quantum changes happened. Seamonkey is just so far behind that it's hard to catch up to those changes. I do not follow that jargon ! "52.7ESR.the GUI and Quantum changes" No matter. I saw something either here or on the Internet that SeaMonkey was essentially DEAD in that it was not being revised (updated) -don't know the term used ?- anymore. That it had been abandoned everybody leaving the "program" because of no support Didn't someone Post something HERE like that a couple of months ago ? I guess that THAT is akin to hearing that some actor died and it turns out to be a lie. "Fake News" huh ? In any case - so glad to hear that SM is alive and well - been using it since the Jurassic Period. I am 75.
