Well, I know of postings which cannot be read. Fine in the thread pane,
but an empty body. If that describes your problem, here is what I do in
such cases. In such very rare cases.

Thanks, Ray, that's what I do at the moment, but what I want to do it
have the messages sent to some groups on my UseNet account go into one
folder/sub-folder and messages sent to other groups *on the same
server*

going into different folders/sub-folders!!

Looking for a pref I created a sub folder abrakadabra in my mail
account, set Copies for news.mozilla.org to this abrakadabra and looked
in about:config for that name.

Here is the result:

Preference Name
    mail.identity.id3.fcc_folder
Value
    mailbox://hafi@localhost/abrakadabra

So there exists indeed a pref. id3 obviously belongs to
news.mozilla.org

on my machine. What you need is a standard value for the server and
different values for some newsgroups.

I'm guessing your mail account would be id1, your local folders would
be id2 and your mozilla account is id3.

Sounds like a MailNewsEnhancement. That one could be spelled as mnenh.
Append an y and you have mnenhy. *g*

Yeap, I recall Mnenhy being mentioned here-abouts a long time ago.

Mnenhy can indeed set prefs for individual folders. Here is an example
from the profile of my last working SM-Trunk:

http://www.triffids.de/pub/screenshot/mn200109.png

There are caveats. Mnenhy is not maintained for a long time so I had to
modify it. If you are interested I can give you the URL. But it is a
private modification which works for me and some others.

It may be that you have questions. If so, ask.

Huh? Why can't you see your OP?

I haven't a clue!! I don't think I've killfiled myself! ;-) Well, no,
of course not, 'cause I can see my response to Ray!!

Maybe one of the SM devs could suggest something?? ;-P

Repair the folder?

So are you suggesting, Walt, that my Profile is broken in such a way
that I cannot see posts by me when they would have been original posts??

My OP's i n UseNet are O.K.!! Hang on!! I'll do an OP in moz.test and

Posting to moz.test is fine and I can reply here!! I don't know!! But as
long as you guys can see any OP's I may make from time to time, I guess
that's all that matters! ;-)

Oh, how good I remember that from the days I used SM-Trunk. *g*

First step should be to determine the root of the problem. aioe does not
use any form of authentication, IIRC, so that should be easy.

New profile, you don't need an E-Mail account. Add news account for aioe
and in that some groups including braunschweig.allgemeines and
braunschweig.kaufrausch. Test. If the issue went away, the problem is
with your old profile. If the issue persists, it has to be aioe.

Apparently you missed this bit
"Microsoft has in recent years encouraged users to adopt its more
modern web browser, the Microsoft Edge, which was released in 2015."

In other words, they've given up on Internet Explorer and want you to
switch to Edge.
Then they gave up on Edge and created a version based on chrome:

Edge based on Chromium will be released next week. SeaMonkey still rules but
the new Edge is ok as a second browser for problematic sites. They kicked the

iteration of the software."

Speaking of leaving the front door unlocked. Yours will be unlocked
after Jan 14th.

"The specific end of support day for Windows 7 will be January 14, 2020.
After that, technical assistance and software updates from Windows
Update that help protect your PC will no longer be available for the
product. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10
sometime before January 2020 to avoid a situation where you need service
or support that is no longer available."

Remembering that this is for my outgoing messages, is this possible??
Maybe by setting up filters on the Local Folders 'Sent' folder!

If "OP" is original post, it is still here. I did not trim any of it.

I have not been anywhere near UseNet in a very long time. If you are
sending from within SM, you can send from one account and create a copy
in a different account. But everything sent from that account is saved
in whatever account you select.

As for where to save sent messages, if you don't want them in an
existing account, you can create three dummy accounts used to just store
sent mail. But you will need a separate send account for each save account.

I don't know what your current incoming mail looks like, but you can do
a lot with incoming filters and multiple email addresses.

Later. I'm off to Quartzsite, AZ for a few days.

I'm a bit curious so I tested an old SM-2.53. That resides in the folder
1905052243 and is therefore from last May. There the problem with the
preferences does not yet exist. Interesting.

It may be, that it will works for SM-2.49. Perhaps. *g*

I haven't used setting prefs for a long time. Now I tried on my
SM-2.53.2. Doesn't work. So forget about Mnenhy.

Should I look into the problem? Hm. I suspect there will be serious
problems with SM-2.57. Better wait for that.

Looking for a pref I created a sub folder abrakadabra in my mail
account, set Copies for news.mozilla.org to this abrakadabra and looked
in about:config for that name.

Here is the result:

Preference Name
   mail.identity.id3.fcc_folder
Value
   mailbox://hafi@localhost/abrakadabra

So there exists indeed a pref. id3 obviously belongs to news.mozilla.org
on my machine. What you need is a standard value for the server and
different values for some newsgroups.

Sounds like a MailNewsEnhancement. That one could be spelled as mnenh.
Append an y and you have mnenhy. *g*

If so, ask.

reasonably active.

So, what I would like to do (at the start of this new year) is to set
up outgoing filters so, say, all the replies to Operating Systems
(Win7 & Linux) type newsgroups automatically go into one folder, all
the replies to T.V. show type newsgroups go into a second folder and
all the rest go into a third folder.

Remembering that this is for my outgoing messages, is this possible??
Maybe by setting up filters on the Local Folders 'Sent' folder!

Anyone got any ideas?? Or, better still, are able to direct me to
on-line instructions.

Thanks, Ray, that's what I do at the moment, but what I want to do it
have the messages sent to some groups on my UseNet account go into one
folder/sub-folder and messages sent to other groups *on the same server*
going into different folders/sub-folders!!

(As a side note: here I am replying to Ray's response to my post when I
