Re: Google.com difference with SeaMonkey compared to Firefox

In both cases I prefer the SM presentation (from the pictures shown). As the UA changes the display this is a deliberate choice by G, and if anyone wants to have a FF presentation that's how to get it. At one time the SM presentation had defects such as the length of the search field not matching its container, or being vertically offset. This doesn't seem to happen now (at least, without JS enabled). The only real improvement needed would be to delete or compress the "People also ask" box. /df -- London UK ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Re: I can't install any version of Seamonkey after 2.49.4
Don Spam's Reckless Son wrote: Not so simple. Dropping back from 2.49.5 to 2.49.4 is no problem, that's one reason I asked what level he was using. Dropping back from 2.53.whatever (or similar) *is* a problem because 2.53.x converts part of the config to a new format when you first run it and that breaks things if you fall back. You need to save the profile before first running the higher level and restore it when falling back. You work too hard. You can have as many versions of SM and as many profiles as you wish. You can have "old' versions of SM and "new" versions. When you run an old version, chose the old profile. When you run a new version, chose the new profile. And if you sometime decide you like the new better than the old, then delete the old. WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE WITH SEAMONKEY V 2.33.1
Hello, Please see my email below. I have decided to upgrade to Windows 10. Will Version 2.33.1 work with Windows 10 and should I be able to upgrade to the latest version of Seamonkey? Thank you Brenda On 2/16/2020 2:38 PM, BER wrote: Hello Everyone, I have been using Seamonkey for a very long, long time over 15 years. I want to install the newest version but I am concerned I will screw it up and lose my emails. I am still on version 2.33.1 because my automatic updates fail and I don't know why. Is there a step by step manual or written process I can find or buy before I attempt this upgrade? I am still on Windows 7, 64 bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am willing to pay for someone's time to help me with this upgrade. Its time I finally tackle this issue. I can't send to newsgroups either and I do not know why. Thank you, Brenda On 2/16/2020 2:00 PM, David E. Ross wrote: On 2/16/2020 11:39 AM, Cheryl wrote: Thanks so much, David. The reason I was updating was because I get the constant Not Responding and have to close seamonkey via Task Mgr. Any help or ideas appreciated. Thanks, Cheryl We have been advised that, if you are trying to install the x64 version of 2.49.5, you must first remove the x32 version (only version) of 2.49.4. Now that you have tried installing 2.49.5 x64, you must first uninstall it before installing 2.49.5 x32. Since something has to be uninstalled, I would uninstall BOTH 2.49.4 x32 and 2.49.5 x64. Then reinstall 2.49.5 x64, which will use you old profile. If things are strange, however, restore your profile from the saved version. I installed 2.49.5 x64 and did not have to do anything with my profile from 2.49.4 x32. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Google.com difference with SeaMonkey compared to Firefox
For the last couple of months, the appearance of the main Google website on SeaMonkey has been different from what it has been for years. Search results are presented in individual boxes, and the website just looks strange. I've done some troubleshooting and here is what I've observed: 1. When entering google.com on Firefox v86.0.1, the site appears normal. 2. When entering google.com on SeaMonkey v2.53.5.1, the site has the strange appearance described above. The site address showing in the title box is https://www.google.com/#spf=1616331365185 even though only https://www.google.com was entered. 3. If I change the SeaMonkey user agent to Firefox 86.0(Using the PrefBar extension) and reload the page, the appearance returns to normal, even though #spf=1616331987062 is still at the end of the site address. 4. Removing #spf=1616331987062 and reloading the page make the site work correctly. 5. Changing the user agent back to Real UA and reloading the page again causes the strange appearance and the site address goes back to https://www.google.com/#spf=1616332459516 This is another example of a website which works differently with SeaMonkey than it does with Firefox. Changing the user agent string is a workaround, but why should this be required? John -- Q: What's the quickest way to get a mailbox full of spam?
