ebay and SeaMonkey Browser Support
As of June 19th, ebay states that they will no longer support the SeaMonkey browser because it is outdated and unsafe. A paste of the message I received is below... eBay Oh No! We noticed that you’re on an outdated web browser that may compromise your security as you shop online. As of June 19, 2018 you will no longer be able to check out on eBay with your current browser. Update to the latest version now so you can continue to check out safely and securely. Previous Session Can't Always Be Restored
SeaMonkey occasionally crashes, usually due to excessive memory use. Not too often, but often enough to be annoying and occasionally cause some real problems, when SM is restarted the "Restore Previous Session" box is greyed out and does not work. Is there some where in the files or the configuration that this information exists and the tab information can be found other than by going through "History" page by page to find saved tabs that may have been opened a week or more ago? The only solution I have found so far is to use the "Bookmark This Group of Tabs" option occasionally, but I don't always do it often enough (like the barn door gets closed too late). ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

You might have a corrupted DNS cache. Try the following: 1. In Windows, open a command window. If you cannot find the entry in your Start list, go to C:\Windows\System32 and double-click cmd.exe 2. Paste the following at the blinking cursor in the Administrator:DOS window: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipconfig.exe /flushdns NOTE WELL: To paste, DO NOT use Ctrl-V. Instead, right-click on the window's title bar and select [Edit > Paste] in the pull-down menu. 3. On your keyboard, press Enter. 4. Paste the following at the blinking cursor: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ipconfig.exe /registerdns Again, use the paste method from step #2. 5. On your keyboard, press Enter. 6. Wait until you see: Registration of the DNS resource records for all adapters of this computer has been initiated. Any errors will be reported in the Event Viewer in 15 minutes. 7. At the blinking cursor, type: exit If this does not help, you might have a virus that is causing redirects. That is, it causes a request to a particular URI to resolve to a different URI. In that case, a scan with your anti-virus application would be appropriate. Yes, clicking on those links from this email works fine, but clicking on the links from the original email gives the results shown above. I just now got an email from NewEgg about a hard disk drive with a newly reduced price. Regards Frank-Rainer Grahl I also found that a tab will properly reload if I right click on it and choose "Reload Tab". With some experimenting, I have found that the problem appears to be in my profile. It does not appear in a clean test profile. I might have to experiment with building a new profile. It has been many years since I have done it and I hope I can still figure out transferring everything important over. There are probably still remnants of Netscape, Mozilla, and the Multizilla add on in there now. I don't even remember what I have installed, but back in the past many useful modifications to prefs.js/user.js were being commonly published in the forums. For now, I will probably go back to the 32 bit SeaMonkey. I was hoping that the 64 bit version would help with the memory hog problems that I have had, but I think it seems to be as bad or worse. I'm getting tired of memory use building up with quite a few open tabs until it reaches over two gig according to Task Manager and then SM slows down and crashes. I can just sit without doing anything and watch memory use grow. Some sites such as Amazon sites seem to be the worst ones when several are open. SeaMonkey doesn't have the Mute Tab feature that Firefox has, and clicking every tab to mute it could get tedious. I have to click each one to open it that window or a new tab. Have you tried safe mode? Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled. I then tried loading the yugster website in the test profile and it loaded fine. Something seems to be blocking all access to yugster in the original profile. As I stated before, I had no previous problem with this url. In fact, I placed an order a few days ago, on the 16th. Checking on this order was when I found that I could no longer get access through SM. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 SeaMonkey 2.40 I loads okay for me. That does not mean you do not have a problem. To aid in diagnosing your problem, launch SeaMonkey in Safe Mode and try that link again. Let us know in a reply to this thread what you get. I'm sorry, I didn't give the full information. This is an old known issue as shown in its release notes like in http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.33/ : Windows: Norton/Symantec anti-virus scanners may report that some parts of SeaMonkey (e.g. the file freebl3.dll) are suspicious. If you downloaded SeaMonkey from one of the official download sites, this is a false alarm. You might experience problems with secure websites when this happens. To fix the issue, instruct your anti-virus software to ignore these files (and move them out of quarantine) and/or switch to another anti-virus software and reinstall SeaMonkey. :( Believe it or not, Norton on ONE of my machines said nothing, but on the other flagged seamonkey.exe itself, which didn't restart after the upgrade. After I restored it, I launched SM manually and it ran fine. Both are Win7 Pro SP1, but the 32-bit version on the older machine was the placid one and the 64-bit version on the newer machine was the grouch. I wondered what had happened! SeaMonkey disappeared after the upgrade to 2.33. After reading this thread I checked Norton Sonar and, sure enough, seamonkey.exe had been removed to quarantine. After I restored it everything is back to normal. That's why I like these groups. They can save a lot of frustration and time. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
