Curious, I had been having a similar problem for a while now.
It affected mail attachments as well as links from web-pages.  I had to
save them and then open them using the standard pdf reader for my system.

To fix this, Edit -> Preferences -> Browser -> Helper Applications
then look for the "PDF document" entry and modify it.

Changed to helper app to "Use Adobe in Seamonkey" and everything works! Thx!

More than a year ago, I looked at Lastpass and other third-party
password manager applications. That was before Mozilla's Password
Manager was fixed to save and use passwords at sites that try to block
the use of password managers. I discovered that Lastpass saves your
passwords on their server. Given the number of computer systems that
are successfully hecked, I decided not to use it. Now, Mozilla's
Password Manager works quite the way I want; and (better) my passwords
exist only locally on my own computer.

In your case, it is possible that Lastpass's server is down.

I know the Server wasn't down because it was working for other sites.
I wish to share my PW's with my other devices ( IPad & IPod Touch)
Do you know how SM bypasses restrictions that sites put on password
managers. I'd like to pass that on to Lastpass folks.

I'm on SM 2.14.1, too, and SM does remember my mail passwords.

In the Password Manager, look for the domain under which you receive

column.

Here's what I see:
https://signin.optonline.net cheese81 Password

the PW is correct. I see no "mailbox" entry
When I open mail I'm asked for a PW. there is NO checkbox

So you're using a webmail site, not downloading POP mail? You go to
<https://signin.optonline.net> and login, and then you're asked for a
password again later on? In that case, you probably should enable
cookies for that site.

I appreciate everyone's help. I must be missing something or I don't
understand terminology. I think mail is being downloaded because I see
it in my profile. I usually delete all cookies on exit so I stopped that
to see if my PW was "remembered". It wasn't.
BTW, when I'm not on my home PC I'll access via webmail. does that reset
things? Is there a way to delete cookies on exit except designated domains?

Your problem is that a growing number of Web sites use JavaScript to
handle logins, which is not supported by Password Manager. See bug
#355063 at <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355063>.
...

No, that wasn't his complaint.

I'm assuming since he didn't say either way that he's talking about
downloading POP mail, not viewing it on a webmail site. In that case,
SeaMonkey should ask for the password and ask whether it should remember
it. And that's been my experience in the past.

Now back to the original subject. We do get that popup (for an IMAP
account) and it does have the "remember" checkbox, but by default it
is not checked. I want to change that (within a company) to show the
checkbox checked when this popup appears.

Anyone know how such a popup is constructed, how to find the piece
of code where that happens, and if it is possible to change such a
default?

Maybe those popups are not even constructed in code but are defined
in some xml or other resource file, which can be modified. I don't
know. But best would be to change it using a pref, as I can modify
those in my locked pref file that is automatically distributed to all
users.

Why does SM have a "remember"checkbox for IMAP and not for POP accounts?

during the installation It looks like it was removed. I'm concerned
that all my stored information is lost and when the extension is made
compatible I'll have to start over.

Anyone know if this data is lost.

above what I already typed, and insert the new words in between some

It just did it while typing this, putting my newest sentence way at

Has anyone else had this problem? I can't be sure if it is an S.M.

Any input will be appreciated.

Mort, how long have you had this computer with the touchpad?? As I was
reading your post, I was about to ask if you had a touchpad, because I'm
fairly sure that's where your problem lies.

I've had a similar problem with my laptop when I inadvertently brush the
left mouse button in front of the touchpad. The problem goes away if I
use a conventional mouse, which I prefer anyway because I find it easier
to control than the touchpad.

Wow! My wife has had the same problem and I could never figure out what
she was inadvertently hitting.
Why don't the pad buttons work the same as mouse buttons? Is there a
setting I'm missing?

Mr Cheese, when you say "Suddenly SM takes minutes to load", do

It takes along time to display the first (home) page. I think its
the
time to load the program rather than the time to load the page.
Forgot to mention previously that I use XP PRO.

Temporarily try loading a blank page at startup to see whether
it's
the

Edit - Preferences - Browser - Display on Browser Startup - Blank

Starting up with blank page still takes minutes. I suspect some
malware.
Lots of disk activity. I've run MalwareBytes, SpyBot and

Next try starting in Safe Mode. If that fixes the issue the next
thing
to do is disable your extensions one by one to see if one of them is

Deleting extensions didn't change anything.

Searching the Mozilla archives this appears to be a known problem, but

No other application is affected.

I was wondering how wide spread this was and whether anyone had any idea

I've seen this a couple of times in the last 2 months when printing

Thanks for acknowledging that you use BCC:.I too wish more
people (everyone?) knew about that. With the habits of people
"forwarding to everyone in my address book" it is really difficult
to keep a private address private.

The mail server of my ISP told me that i am trying to spam - therefore
he refuse to send my mail.

So how many addresses were you trying to send to? A former ISP of mine
had a limit of 25 recipients, else the message was sidelined. If yours
is one of those ISPs, you'll need to break up your sending to<25 per
message.

Just curious, what is it you are sending? Are you forwarding email
without removing other addresses from the *body* of the message?
(Another no-no.) I regularly send club broadcast bulletins and messages
to well over a hundred (in BCC), but I use a mailserver with my web
host, where no limits are imposed.

I expect to change email ID's in the near future and want to broadcast a
short note about the change. (around 200 recipients)

There were some smaller improvements. I can now delete bookmarks found

It's easier to move a profile between the laptop and the desktop, now
that I can assign the profile folder name myself.

I am ambivalent about the form handling - would like to have both the
old and new methods, really. The current method is adequate for my
needs, mainly filling in a form when I'm buying something.

I haven't found these functions. Where are they? (I checked help and
searched the web)

The auto tab stuff happens automatically; the open recent tab is on the
File menu; zoom is on the View menu. You can also zoom with Ctrl + or
Ctrl -

It takes a little getting used to because at first all you see is the
blank entry on the form. But as soon as you type the first letter the
pull down list of choice appears. This is great for managing both login
usernames and other stuff.

OK, I give up. How do I get to the Form (Field?) Manager?

Word does on Mac save backup of a word document that was in memory at
time of crash. Of all places it will show up in trash. Often you can
open, and copy, and save to a new document.

I don't think that a crash save really meets the criterion.
NeoOffice/OpenOffice both do crash saving as well. SeaMonkey/Thunderbird
also both do auto saves of current work, in case of a crash. That's not
a backup in the sense being discussed.

Rubens wrote:

Hello,

Over the years I´ve got used to transfer my profile from one computer to
another with SM 1.1.x using the following method:

1- Creating a folder structure in the new computer like this:

D:\SMprofiles\MyProfile

2- Copying all files and folders under the "MyProfile" folder from the old
computer to the "MyProfile" folder at the new computer.

3- Starting the Profile Manager in the new computer, starting a new profile
creation and selecting the same profile name and folder location.

From this point on, SM 1.1.x assumes all files already there as
belonging to the new profile and works normally.

But, this method does not seem to work for SM 2.x, because the previous
profile data
is not recognized.

Should this method work for SM 2.x or I am doing anything wrong ?

Thanks to all,

Rubens

Backup and restore of the profile has been discussed forever.
Brings to mind an obvious (to me) question:

Why doesn't SeaMonkey have a backup/restore function built in?

Check to see you haven't clicked on the little arrow to far left, to
simply close the personal Bar. the arrow (or Flippy) should be point up
not to the right.

Also, check in View> Options and see if you have Personal Toolbar
unchecked.

And if you try it again this time just click on the icon for bookmarks
on the personal Toolbar and drag it to the customize window. not the
whole personal toolbar.

OK, Here's what happened. When I selected "customize" the personal
toolbar changed to "personal toolbar items". I didn't recognize this so
I dragged it to the customizing window. Ergo MY personal items
disappeared. Not obvious to me (sigh)

Thx to all who made suggestions

Were you able to get it back??

You can choose to forward in-line that way you can snip everything but
the message.

Normally a Forward is set up as an attachment. That way it just forwards
the message in its entirety, and tacks on your header Info.

Forward inline still adds the email as an attachment??? Does this have
something to do with the way that the email was sent to me?

Tell them you are concerned about your privacy and ask them to make the
list a BCC list (Blind Carbon Copy). That way there will be No Long List.
I know about bcc: that's the method I use. I don't mind seeing the long
address lists cause I sometimes add an entry to my address book), I just
