I would probably install 2.10 and then 2.35 also. This section of
the release notes is carried forward with every release and who know
when it was last tested... :)

If no email I would start with a fresh profile and import the
bookmarks only.

In any case backup the profile as suggested.

IIRC, there was a point at which the mailbox format changed, so
restoring mail in the old format to a later version expecting the new
format might cause problems. Back then, we were advised to back up
(always a good idea) and then install the new version over the old
one, which incorporated a conversion step.

Confirm/correct?

I think that I remember - the conversion was done without overwriting
the previous one. I always do - "de-install the current version" then
"install the new one". the conversion is inside the profile which will
be converted.

I know you need at least one interm install, I think it is 2.0.
UnlessĀ  you get a more sure answer my advise would be

1) Download and install MozzBack up. Back up with it first so you can go
back to before an issue if one shows up.
2) Download Seamonkey 2.0 and update to that.
3) download the latest version and update to that.

The other thing that may work is back up with Mozbackup then install the
latest version and use Mozbackup to install your history and settings
into there.
