When I enter the supplied password, I'd expect I can watch the video,
but how do I actually get the video file downloaded onto my hard
drive?? Can I do it with-in SeaMonkey, or do I need an add-on??

Do you not see a "download" button on VIMEO?

It's been a while, meagain. I'll check it out again to see what I see.

The "download" button appears on videos when the submitter has permitted it.

AFAIU, Video DownloadHelper is quite popular.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/

When I try to install this, it says the file is corrupt?

It is a WebExtension and they don't work in SeaMonkey.

Try https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/seamonkey/addon/downthemall/

Downloaded and installed. Thank you!!

Should I be worried that the Add-Ons Manager shows it as "The mass

through the Converter??

Probably not.

Thank you, Walt.

Near the bottom of the page there's a 'see all versions' link. Go
there & find an older version that works on FF 52.x and/or says works
works with SeaMonkey
  Version 6.3.3
  Works with Firefox 51.0a1 - 56.*
This release is the last one of Video DownloadHelper using the legacy
Add-on SDK Firefox API.

Lee

Tried clicking on 6.3.3 and it did absolutely nothing!!

yes! +1 for using a video downloader addon; when they work they are

so much easier

It's been a while since I had one that worked tho, so if I know
url for the movie I just make a quick .html file so that I can
"right click / save link as" to download the file:
right click / save link as to
download

Lee

How does that go with having to provide a password for the
site/video??

dunno, I've never had to log in to see a video. First thing I'd try
is logging in and opening the download html file in another tab.

What I have seen is sites not letting you watch a video unless the
proper cookies are set. For them, start the video, pause it & open
the download html file in another tab

Regards, Lee

O.K., that sounds like a plan. ;-)

If you have the URI of the video, you can use VLC (VideoLAN from
) to download the file. You do this by
playing the video on VLC and recording what is playing. You have to be
quick about starting the recording, or you might miss the first few
seconds.

Thanks, David. I was hoping for a (non-watching) result, as I'm looking
to download several video's at a time.

Would be perfecr if we write a program asking us the url,
Then the program construct this html file...
Then start SM opening this html file.
Isn't it ?

yes! +1 for using a video downloader addon; when they work they are
so much easier

It's been a while since I had one that worked tho, so if I know url
for the movie I just make a quick .html file so that I can "right

If you have the URI of the video, you can use VLC (VideoLAN from
) to download the file. You do this by
playing the video on VLC and recording what is playing. You have to be
quick about starting the recording, or you might miss the first few
seconds.

I use online downloaders.
They come and go and some have size limits but work well.

AFAIU, Video DownloadHelper is quite popular.
