I have the Toolbar Buttons extension installed. On top of that, I
imported the Passwords Button. Those make it quite easy to change
passwords in SeaMonkey.

Here is how to fix your problem WITHOUT any extensions. When requested,
provide your master password.

1. On the SeaMonkey menu bar, select [Edit > Preferences].

2. On the left side of the Preferences window, select [Privacy &
Security > Passwords].

3. On the Passwords pane, select the Managed Stored Passwords button.

4. On the left side of the Data Manager (tab or window), under Domain,
select the domain where you want to change the password.

5. On the right side of the Data Manager, select the appropriate URI
and select the Remove button at the bottom. NOTE: There might be
several URIs if you enter the site in more than one way. Select the URI
for the login Web page for which you changed your password.

6. Close the Data Manager.

7. Try to logon to the site. It will ask for your password. Give it
your new password.

8. When SeaMonkey presents a popup asking if you want to remember the
logon, reply affirmatively.

If you want to know how I change my passwords via Toolbar Buttons, reply
in this thread.

Will you post your in and out settings to have SM manage a x...@yahoo.com
account?

I do not have a x...@yahoo.com acct other than yahoo web mail.

ATT.net settings:
Outgoing:
smtp.att.yahoo.com (Default)
Port 465
m...@att.net
Normal password
SSL/TLS

Incoming:
pop.att.yahoo.com
port 995
SSL/TLS
Auth = normal password

As Walt mentioned, I keep hearing about needing a "Secure Mail Key".
I do not have one.  If that becomes necessary I will use pop or imap gmail
instead.

What file can I edit to modify my ATT.net settings?

What file did you use to set up the account?

I think it was some kind of file that I used to convert from Netscape to
Seamonkey so Haveb't a clue
as that was aa long time ago

Then you need to follow these instructions.

For incoming mail, open the Mail & Newsgroups window.

Select the email account in the Folder pane.
Select "View settings for this account".
Under the account name, choose "Server Settings" to access the settings.

For outgoing mail.

Select "Outgoing Server (SMTP)".
Select the server name and click "Edit" to access the settings.

Make the necessary changes and you should be done.

I changed the password for login to AT&T but SM must still be using the old
password at login. When
I access "Server Settings" there is nothing there that allows me to update the
password stored in SM

For the password you would select Tools > Password Manager > Manage
Stored Passwords.

Find the account under the Domains list, select it.

Smush the "Show Passwords" button.

Smush the "Yes" button.

Smush the "Remove" button.

Close the Mail & Newsgroups window or Quit SeaMonkey.

Restart SeaMonkey or reopen the Mail & Newsgroups window.

Get mail for that account and enter the new password when prompted.

Do I need to edit a file in the Profile to implement the "Att.net settings"?

For incoming mail, go to Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings, and under
the account name, choose "Server Settings" to access the settings.

For outgoing mail, go to Mail & News Account Settings, and under
"Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Settings," click the server name once and click

Of course "m...@att.net" above was just an example for illustration; use
your own email address.

I want to thank Paul in Houston so much for putting his settings in a
post to the Seamonkey mailing list a couple of days ago.  They helped me
so much.  Immediately using your settings, I was able to receive email
but had problems till today to get my outgoing mail working because for
some reason I didn't set up the settings properly till today.

Again, thanks so much,

I do not have a x...@yahoo.com acct other than yahoo web mail.

ATT.net settings:
Outgoing:
smtp.att.yahoo.com (Default)
Port 465
m...@att.net
Normal password
SSL/TLS

Incoming:
pop.att.yahoo.com
port 995
SSL/TLS
Auth = normal password

As Walt mentioned, I keep hearing about needing a "Secure Mail Key".
I do not have one. If that becomes necessary I will use pop or imap
gmail instead.

I don't care. Anything that will work. Will you post your settings?

"Computer email program" gets me.

I suppose I shouldn't have been so flip.

To me this isn't a "fix" it's a "work around." The problem is on AT&T/Yahoo's
end. And there are probably a number of people who have not come to the Mozilla
group because they wouldn't be comfortable making a change like this.

Also, if AT&T/Yahoo have to spend time fixing this, next time just maybe when
they put in some "fix," they'll test with the Mozillas as well as IE, Chrome
and whatever.

Re: ATT email problem

2012-03-11 Thread cmcadams

It's now 2:10p CDT, here, and no change. I confirm

* text email still works
* text email with graphic attachments work
* HTML email WITHOUT graphics work
* HTML email WITH graphics are still bombing

This is in SM 2.7.2.

I've learned to never expect anything effective from AT&T phone support. I invested
in an external dial-up modem on eBay for those times when DSL dies, so that I
wouldn't have to talk to India ever again, but that's no help today.

And they think it's ONLY Thunderbird.

Perhaps when (if) they fix it for Thunderbird, it'll work for us.

Lisa Wiser wrote:

Re: ATT email problem

2012-03-10 Thread Lisa Wiser
Well, I just tried plain text, also, and it worked!  yay. Thanks, Jay, for the
idea.

In my case, I'm on my Laptop Wireless so that didn't help.

And I just talked with AT&T AGAIN and they have apparently gotten a LOT of
calls about this. It is apparently just the Mozilla's of SeaMonkey and
Thunderbird. The person I talked with also mention BlackBerry, but I just sent
a test message out and that seems to have gone.

At about 10:30 pm EST AT&T said they were estimating 4 hours and the problem
should be fixed. So .. there's a time estimate. I always thought the
non-Worldnet AT&T was bad enough. And then they double downed dumb with Yahoo!
