Where on that page do you see advertisements? I do not see any.

Note, however, I do not subscribe to any filter sources. Instead, I
manually create my own filters.

If I use Firefox with "Adblocker Ultimate" I don't see any ads but with
Seamonkey you only have the choice of Adblock Plus and no alternative
apart from "Ublock" which looks too complicated for me and I'm sure to
mess it up. Is there any possibility that Mozilla will make Firefox

Not here either, on either linked page.

SM 2.40, Win7 Pro SP1, ABP 2.7.3.

Check your ABP version and filter subscriptions?

Almost all the adblockers use the same kind of subscription filter
lists. If Adblocker Ultimate will show you which list(s) it's
subscribed to by default, you can probably subscribe to them with
AdBlock Plus as well.

Probably the EasyList. You can see what you have by doing Ctrl-Shift-E.

Same for OP -- he can see his subscriptions, if any. An easy way to see
lots of ads would be to have no subscriptions, 'cause then you have to
build all your filters by hand.

It is EasyList.

The only filter I've created by hand is the one to stop Twitter when I
open a feed in Thunderbird.

I switched to uBlock Origin for my browsers. Switching back to it in

My installation of the SeaMonkey executable is on a hard drive different
from its profiles. However, you must note that sometimes the problem is
not with the SeaMonkey executable but with a corrupted profile. Thus,
before trying to re-install SeaMonkey, try creating a new profile and
then see if the problem exists in the new profile.

Thanks for your reply, in the end I decided enough is enough and
installed Opera which not only has its own built in adblocker also
accepts the extension "Adblocker Ultimate" (English List Filter).
Obviously I am only using one extension at a time. On my other machines
I use Firefox as the default browser but on this machine I use Firefox
solely for "adult" sites and used Seamonkey as the main browser but
having now removed Seamonkey on this machine its Opera for my main
browsing now.

Michael, if you did a pretty standard installation of SeaMonkey, the
Program is in one location and the Profile is in another.

When you uninstall SM, it should just remove the Program, and then, when
you re-install it, it will "find" the Profile.

Hmm, but nor that I re-read your post, you are asking about Preferences,
which, logically is part of your Profile, so should be safe!!

However always worth doing a Back-Up you know, just in case!!

Didn't know that, makes me slightly worried about privacy. However
saying that I have some freeware on my system from Chinese companies and
are in my opinion the best available freeware or otherwise. Aomei
Backupper, Aomei Partition Assistant also an audio conversion program
from another chinese company "sothinkmedia" and a programme no longer
available I think from them to make a DVD . All these programs are very
efficient in what they do and are free. I also use free antivirus from a
Czech company, again a very efficient program. If Opera can still keep a
base in Norway and have some control in its direction I think it will
be OK.

I don't care all that much that it's Chinese companies but I do wonder
how they're going to get back their $600 million + profit. If Opera
was making all that much money off their browser why'd they sell it?

They sold the browser, so I'd guess no control, involvement,
direction, or anything:
https://techcrunch.com/2016/07/18/opera-renegotiates-its-1-2b-sale-down-to-600m-for-browser-privacy-apps-chinese-jv/
Opera will sell the Qihoo 360-led consortium its mobile and desktop
browser operations, its performance and privacy apps, its tech
licensing not including Opera TV; and Opera’s 29 percent stake in
Chinese JV nHorizon.

Opera’s remaining business that is not part of the sale will include
Opera Mediaworks, Opera Apps & Games (including Bemobi) and Opera TV,
along with about 560 employees.

Looked at Vivaldi, looks too complicated for me and a reliance on tabs. I
try to avoid using tabs at all costs.Might download it sometime to see
it in action, which browsers flash player does it use ? In the
meanwhile I'll stick with Opera. If serious privacy issues occur or the
browser changes markedly I'll bite the bullet and reluctantly go with
Google Chrome. It would only be with this computer, because my others
use Firefox as the default browser.
