Hi,

I downloaded the build by W9G seamonkey-2.53.5b1pre  on September
13 (today).  I the last build I had downloaded was from September 7.

The first thing I Noticed was how fast and responsive it was
compared to the build from September 7 that I had been using.  Has
anyone else tried any of the builds by W9G recently and noticed the
speed and responsiveness improvements.  What a difference.

BTW I am using MacOS 10.15.6.

Paul, when you installed the latest, did you flush the cache to
ensure the SM had to re-acquire the web-site data i.e. to stop it
just re-using the Cached data??
I don't use the cache and have it set to use 0 mb of disk space. The
browser was to retrieving stored data from the cache.

Hmm! Sorry, Paul, did you mean "The browser was *not set* to
retrieving stored data from the cache."??

Yes. I don't use the cache when browsing.

O.K., so that means that when you go to a web-site, SM *must* get the
required information anew, so things must be happening faster.

However, I expect 'The Web' is not acting faster just because you are
using SM 2.53.5b1pre, just your computer device must be displaying
things a bit quicker so I'm having troubles thinking there would be
a really noticeable speed increase ... marginal, Yeah, sure, but greatly
increased ... don't know!!

But, if it seems so, to you, great!!

Is it possible that all your browsers other than Firefox are using

The spelling error would only affect people who copy and paste the link
text. The href attribute has the correct spelling of "telemetry".

It takes me there, too, but the page is a huge white field with the

I see no way to get to the content.

Okay, thanks guys,
but I think I've found the "work around" for this
issue.
I just go to:
Switch Profile
Manage Profiles
Add New Profile

name it "images on"
and never play with the permissions controls.

This provides a clean slate to the issue and
makes an easy way to fix too much messing around
with the permissions. (of which I'm guilty).

All I have to do is switch profiles to get all
sites images working again.

In the current SeaMonkey 2.16, [Tools > Image Manager > Manage Image
Permissions] launches the Data Manager, which does not have a "Remove
All Sites" for image permissions. Instead, you must step through each
domain, one at a time, to check ALL permission, not just image
permissions. If you find an image permission, you must then check the
"Use Default" checkbox to undo a prior image permission setting. All
this is clearly not user-oriented, which is why I submitted my prior
reply in this thread.

The Permissions Menu in PrefBar gives you the old Image Manager along
with the old Cookies and Popups Managers.

Is there a simple sheet of instructions, that will work, on how to adjust image

Case in point: I've messed up my seamonkey settings for images, so badly, that

As I said in the beginning, I really like seamonkey, and intend to use it as my

Tools/Image Manager/Manage Image Permissions

click on "Remove All Sites"

maybe? Or similar... I'm at my old machine right now, which maxed out
at SM 2.0.14.

First, download and install the PrefBar extension from
.

Then go to
and import the Permissions Menu into PrefBar.

Finally, use the Permissions Menu to reach the Image Manager, where you
can change or delete image permissions.

See bug #664574 at .

David, I think what Razvan might be looking for is to have the website

I agree that the ability to modify ala 1.x was (IMO) better/easier. If
all else fails, you can always modify (via a text editor) the
mimeTypes.rdf file. It would be nice if there were an extension with a
gui to do this - perhaps there is, but I've not looked.

Okay, I overspoke -- yes, there is that limited capability. But I can't
look at the MIME type, and I can't search for file types.

For example, my system has an entry called "Application," but I can't
search for "exe." And for that entry, the pull-down options are "Always
ask" and "Save file."

For another example, the entry "Adobe Acrobat 7.0 document" doesn't
mention "pdf" anywhere, and I can't search to see if SM knows how to
handle PDFs or needs me to tell it. For that file type, the pull-down
options are "Always ask," "Save file," "Use Acrobat 8.2 (default)," "Use
Acrobat 8.2," "Use Acrobat 8.2 (in SeaMonkey)," "Use other...," and
"Application details..." The last one pulls up a dialog that tells me
"The following applications can be used to handle Adobe Acrobat 7.0
document content," and lists Adobe Acrobat and tells me the directory
containing its executable.

Some file types do show the MIME type, as in your screenshot, but most
do not. And in any event, that isn't editable.

It all has a very M$ kind of feel -- we won't tell you what we don't
think you should know.

7 years old. I'm not one of these types that replace computer every 6
months to two years because the software call for it. Usually on a Mac
you shift when there is a shift processors and system software is
written that will only use that new processor type.

this will be only my 5th Mac since 1986. So I don't do this often At
least I'd like to bring over my Mailboxes, Bookmarks, Password, and
newsgroups and my plugins and extensions.

That's what I've done in the past, but I do a clean install on the new
machine first and then move items/folders individually - generally just
my Mail/News items, but now that I'm a bit more up on the structure I'd
just move the whole Profile folder contents, I think.

Yes.

When we say we are releasing "on December 15th", then it means we are
making the release public some time during that day in US Pacific Time

The [Help > About SeaMonkey] page reflects the current version, whatever
that version is. Of course, you can change what SeaMonkey thinks its
version is. That's called "spoofing".

Updates can be made automatic. On your menu bar, go to [Edit >
Preferences]. On the left side of the Preferences window, select
[Advanced > Software Install]. On the Software Installation pane,
select the checkbox (to put a check mark there) for "SeaMonkey" under
"Automatically check for updates to:". Indicate how often you want to
check.

I'm not sure, but I think automatic updates of an end-user version of
SeaMonkey will only occur when there is a new end-user version. That
is, with the UA string you show in your message (an end-user version),
you won't automatically get nightlies, alphas, betas, or release
candidates.

Peter,
In each of my 10 mail accounts/copies and folders/ all I have is
the name of the mail boxes (sent, drafts, templates), under the
account name. Example: under the account Heavy Duty, in the window
for sent, it reports Heavy Duty. These are all correct. I can find
no suggestion for a path path that goes to documents and settings\
(username)\local settings\temp. That is the directory where these
NS*.* show up.
Just now as I was attempting to send out an e-mail, it failed with
this message: "unable to save message as draft." (I think because
the message on the screen had hit the time-out before holding as a
draft) "Unable to open the temporary file Documents and
Settings\(username)\temp\nsmail.pdf. Check your temporary directory
settings."
When I looked in the temp file, there was a nsmail.eml file and an
nscopy.tmp file both timed to the present/current date/time. Each
file was a little less than 2KB.

did you follow the instructions I gave: Edit, Mail & Newsgroups

sure does't sound like it.

I thought I followed your directions.

yes it is. Now, is this message a posting to a newsgroup or an email
message?

Peter,
Thanks for your continued interest.

I think you are asking about what I was sending by what mechanism.

This is all about sending e-mails.

I have had this happen a number of times when sending an html e-mail
message with a pdf attachment to multiple recipients. I have posted my
frustrations about this in the past to this NG

.
The particular circumstances in the last two days consist of sending to
both multiple recipients in html with a pdf attachment AND sending a
plain text message with a pdf attachment to two persons. As you can see,
I have gotten a variety of different error messages. What ever is going
on is going in the ...\temp subdirectory and concerns various NS*.*
temporary files. Sometimes they must not get made, sometimes they get
reduced to 0 bytes, or get corrupted, and sometimes they are not deleted
after sending.

Does this provide enough detail?
