Re: [Sursound] Passive small speaker advice

2019-01-10 Thread Augustine Leudar
Acoustic energy extreme 8 sound OK will have enough bass for your room and
big metal brackets on the back.
(Ps kef eggs sound OK but are way to small for your space and would be a
downgrade from the b&w type things you already have)
I'd look at getting a grant and go Genelec though they really are
outstanding - even worth the added hassle of running power to. If you sold
each monoblock for a couple of hundred quid you'd probably be looking at
paying 300 quid for each 8330

Re: [Sursound] Passive small speaker advice

2019-01-10 Thread Augustine Leudar
I though you said passive but if you're willing to consider active and sell
all the moles then the Generic 8330 are much cheaper than the ones . really
accurate , sound great can be daisychained via the AES digital input so
cabling easier and you could use glm to calibrate the whole system. If you
sold the moles then it would probably be the same price or cheaper than
passive options. They're mountable too.

hi bruce,

kef ls50 were suggested before but if the budget is tight you should
also consider kef q150.
for ambisonics the kefs are actually the only speakers that are really
usable when you need a big sweetspot because of their wide and even
dispersion. i've never understood why in so many places adams, genelecs
or neumanns are used - their dispersion is really poor.
here's an interesting comparison:
