Re: [svg-developers] GIS Using SVG
hi ramesh marikhu, generally it is not possible to encrypt client side java/ECMAscript. one way is to backward engineering through function names (that need to be readable when placed as event handlers). just add an alert(functionName) within the scriptblock (or in an all encolsing eval()-block) and you will see more of it. of course that may get boring... it is up to you to judge if it is worth decrypting, generally rebuilding is easier. are you speaking about a german ESRI extension? andré -- ___ andre m. winter, cartography for internet and multimedia applications schiessstand 4/1, a6091 goetzens, tyrol, austria tel.: ++43.5234.32732 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] new svg book with actual scripting samples out now! checkhttp://svg.carto.net/ Dear All, I am glad to be joining the group of SVG Developers. I had an interest in SVG since just a couple of years but am well aware of its capabilities currently and its prospects in the future. Currently I am working on GIS Using SVG basically dealing with display of GIS on the web using SVG, XML, XSL, Javascript, HTML, CSS files... to name almost all of them. I have a problem. I am being forced to use one of the javascript files which is the main system library and its encrypted or garbled. I would be very grateful if anyone knew how i could get back the javascript code or just let me know if it is not possible. Regards, Ramesh Marikhu Asian Institute of Technologies Thailand - Yahoo! Re:[svg-developers] GIS Using SVG
Hi Andre M. Winder, I am glad you are interested in my problem. I have a file which is syslib.js which seems encrypted. Let me clarify my problem domain. I am creating a system for converting GIS shape files and database to SVG and XML. I have this syslib.js and i have a prototype working with it. So i do know a set of functions which are being used in this syslib.js. I have no problems using those functions for my project as well, and so i am using syslib.js. (I haven't delved into the copyright issues though because i think this file is written by someone while doing a project in Germany related to the same project I am doing. OK, let me just say it clearly, the file was a very initial file used by MapView (I am sure you know about it). Please, do let me know if this file can be decrypted into its original code, though I think its garbled form of encryption. Also, I do understand about reverse engineering or simply trying to implement each of the functions I require, but then that would take quite a lot of time. Also, I am quite new to javascript, new in the sense i have done less programming in it. Regards, Ramesh Marikhu AIT, Thailand. [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.cs.ait.ac.th/~t103824 - New Yahoo! Re:[svg-developers]GIS Using SVG
Dear Armin Mueller, I agree to whatever you have said about the copyright thing and that this group is not a cracker group or something. And I very well know that this MapViewGIS for SVG is copyrighted. Did I ever mention anywhere that I was making something to sell? I do learn from the code certain aspects which are not found in books. I have no intention of using this MapViewGIS's syslib.js for anything other than my mini project ( purely for educational purpose). Its an XML project to be precise, just testing the capabilities of SVG. Its due 2 weeks. Now where do i get a head start. I use MapViewSVG and I am a subscriber of it too. I have its setup files, free versions.. I learn something from it. Aint using it commercially. Is there something wrong with that? Also, if using it for educational purpose is not allowed too, just let me know. I wont use it at all. In any way, I did not mean to take this group as a cracker group and I did not mean to steal others work. Regards, Ramesh Marikhu Asian Institute of Technologies. Re:[svg-developers]GIS Using SVG
Armin Muller. I think I angered you. If I were you (which I wish I were) I would be angrier I guess. Well, I assure you I aint using it for things that goes against the copyright. Well, since I now am in direct contact with you (from MapView), I take this opportunity to ask you if you have any educational version of that javascript.. umm maybe just the basic functions to manipulate SVG DOM. There are lots of information on the web, I agree, but if there already is something which some developer has already created to help new developers, I would surely go for that. So please Armin, if MapView has some very early version of the library file with basic functions, please do let me know. And if what I am asking you is making you angrier, I am sorry. It was just that Mr. Andre feels there you guys might provide me with a basic library (Its always easier to work with something functional already than from the scratch, and I am sure you do agree). And please dont be mad at others because of me. Hello, I don't know if you have taken a look at www.carto.net. There are lots of GIS SVG tutorials and sample projects available. The code they used is also open-source (corre ct me if I'm wrong). You can go a long way with the tutorials written there. Jeroen marikhu schreef: Armin Muller. I think I angered you. If I were you (which I wish I were) I would be angrier I guess.
