[swinog] Neues PeeringDB Objekt carrier // Visualisierung /// New PeeringDb object carrier // Visualization
Tolle Sache! Jay schreibt dazu: --- You can create a "Network Link" from inside Google Earth [Pro] and refresh as needed. To create a network link, right click on "My Places" and select new Network Link. In the url use https://qcix.net/map/peeringdb.kml --- Viele Grüße Arnold [0] https://www.peeringdb.com/ [1] derzeit noch buggy, siehe https://github.com/peeringdb/peeringdb/issues/1315, wird umgehend gefixt [2] https://qcix.net/map/peeringdb.kml - English version Hello community, With version 2.43.0 from Wednesday last week, PeeringDB [0] introduced the new object "carrier" (endpoint /carrier) to be able to map L1 and L2 services with it. The object is initially kept very simple. An organization can only indicate that it offers carrier services and in which colocations/data centers (endpoint /carrierfac) they are represented. This requires the consent of the data center operator [1]. If the carrier object is well received, PeeringDB will add specific services (DF, waves, Ethernet, ...) to the object. To be listed as a carrier, log in to PeeringDB as admin, use the menu at the top right to go to the organization you want to create the carrier service and find the mask in the 4th tab. Fill out, send, and done! // Jay Hanke (MICE/QCIX) provides a KML file under [2] that lists all data centers in PeeringDB with the IXP and carriers. Great thing! [swinog] Fwd: [NLNOG] Voorkom AS-set namespace collisions. AS-A2B vs AS51088:AS-A2B // AS-SET Squatting
[ h/t Erik Bais ... helemaal bedankt, Erik! En loop even overal na, dat je je nieuwe AS-Set in je export regels hebt staan.. zoals : * remarks: Transits * remarks: * import: from AS2914 action pref=100; accept ANY AND NOT {0.0.0.0/0} * export: to AS2914 announce AS51088:AS-A2B * import: from AS3257 action pref=100; accept ANY AND NOT {0.0.0.0/0} * export: to AS3257 announce AS51088:AS-A2B Mocht je dat bij peers / klanten of internet exchanges ook hebben staan.. rinse & repeat .. you know the drill. ( Voorbeeld AS51088 - https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/query?bflag=false&dflag=false&rflag=true&searchtext=as51088&source=RIPE <https://apps.db.ripe.net/db-web-ui/query?bflag=false&dflag=false&rflag=true&searchtext=as51088&source=RIPE> ). We will soon begin to delegate space from this IPv6 block to LIRs. Prior to this, in order to improve routability and minimise the risk of filtering, the RIPE NCC will perform several de-bogonising activities in the next few weeks. We plan to start announcing the full /12, as well as a few /32 or longer blocks out of 2a10::/12 from AS12654 (RIPE Routing Information System (RIS)), within the next few days. We will analyse data from RIS and RIPE Atlas and we plan to write up an analysis around this effort. [swinog] Fwd: RFC 8195 "Use of Large Communities"
FYI, Arnold Weitergeleitete Nachricht Betreff: RFC 8195 "Use of Large Communities" Datum: Sat, 1 Jul 2017 17:02:26 +0200 Von: Job Snijders An: na...@nanog.org Dear all, RFC 8195 "Use of BGP Large Communities" was just now published: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8195 RFC 8195 presents examples and inspiration for the operational application of Large Communities. The document suggests logical categories of Large Communities and demonstrates an orderly manner of organizing community values within those categories to achieve typical goals in routing policy. Any network or route server operator can consider using the concepts presented as the basis for their own Large Communities repertoire. RFC 8195 is meant as a companion document in the same way that RFC 1998 provided a concrete real-world application for RFC1997 BGP Communities. The RFC draws on the experience of operator communities such as NANOG and NLNOG. A ton of open source implementations [1] with Large support are already available. And with more traditional vendors like IOS XR, Junos, Arista & Nokia having releases around the corner, I hope this will be useful when planning your Large Communities deployment later this year. [swinog] Fwd: [NLNOG] BGP Filter Guide
fyi, Arnold Weitergeleitete Nachricht Betreff: [NLNOG] BGP Filter Guide Datum: Wed, 17 May 2017 13:34:38 +0200 Von: Job Snijders An: nl...@nlnog.net Dear NLNOGers, We recently kickstarted a small effort to create a repository of guidance on developing sane BGP filters. http://bgpfilterguide.nlnog.net/guides/ The goal is to provide a go-to place which will help you develop a comprehensive route filtering policy tailored to your specific context. The guide is not meant as "blindly copy+paste this", but it should provide you with sufficient guidance to help you create your own filters. Afterall, each network operates in autonomy and will have their own considerations. The filtering guide is in its early stages: there is work to be done to improve the readability and internal consistency, and additional topics and aspects need to be added. If you want to contribute, just submit a pull-request via https://github.com/nlnog/bgpfilterguide . The guides themselves are simple markdown files as is visible here https://github.com/NLNOG/bgpfilterguide/tree/master/guides In case you identify an area which is not yet covered by one of the guides please consider opening a 'github issue' at https://github.com/nlnog/bgpfilterguide/issues so someone else can consider writing the guide. The entire project is hosted on github and using github's jekyll service for publication. So if you clone the repository you have everything it is. Please consider contributing in the following areas: - add new guides or extend use cases - readability improvements - open issues on topics that need to be addressed I'd like to thank Erik Bais for proposing and contributing to this initiative. [swinog] DENOG 1: Call for Papers
DENOG 1 - Call for Participation and Papers The first meeting of the German Network Operators Group (DENOG) will be held in Frankfurt, Germany on the 5th of November 2009. We are pleased to hereby invite applications for presentations or short lightning talks to be held at this inaugural event. General Information === DENOG is a community for professionals within Germany who are operating, designing or researching the Internet. It provides a technical forum where those working on, with and for the Internet can come together to solve problems with every aspect of their (net)work. The inaugural meeting is designed to provide an opportunity for the exchange of information among network operators, engineers, researchers and other professionals close to the network community. More information about DENOG (in German) can be found at http://www.denog.de/ Information about the meeting will be published at http://www.denog.de/meeting/. Meeting Countdown = What When -- Publication of Call for Papers July 27th, 2009 Deadline for all submissions September 28th, 2009 Publication of final programme October 11th, 2009 Deadline for receipt of final slides October 29th, 2009 Meeting DayNovember 5th, 2009 Topics for Presentations/Talks == The day will be divided into four sessions as described below. The number and length of presentations per session is not fixed, although due to time constraints we would prefer the length of the presentations to be between 10 to 30 minutes. However proposals for longer/shorter presentations or presentations whose subject falls outside of the topics below are also welcome; please do not hesitate to submit them. Topic #1: Internet, politics and regulations Duration: 90 minutes Topics can include (but are not limited to): Legal interception, government-driven DNS blacklists, DNSSEC (and problems arising from DNS blacklists). Topic #2: Peering -- Duration: 60 minutes All around your peering experience. Why are you doing it? How are you doing it? Have you written any useful tools which others might find interesting? Topic #3: ISP BOF - Duration: 90 minutes "All things ISP". From Network/SLA Management (for or against it), abuse handling and log systems to data centre layout and planning (including power and cooling), everything that is interesting to you as an ISP can be presented or discussed within this topic. Topic #4: DENOG Organisational Matters -- Duration: 60 minutes, no papers necessary In this session we will discuss how to proceed with DENOG and potential future meetings. We will present our ideas and eagerly await your own ideas, feedback and comments. Submission Guidelines = All submissions must have a strong technical bias and must not be solely promotional for your employer. To appeal to an international audience we ask you to produce your slides in English, but the presentation itself can be in either German or English. Please remember that your presentations should be suitable for a target audience of technicians from varied backgrounds, working for companies whose sizes vary considerably. To submit a proposal for a presentation, we request that you provide the following information as plain text or PDF format to : * the name of the presenter (and if applicable your affiliation) * a working email address * the name and number of the topic which will contain the presentation * the title of the presentation * its expected length (in minutes) * the preferred spoken language for the presentation * a short abstract of the presentation (not more than 200 words) We also welcome suggestions for specific presentations which you feel would be valuable to the DENOG community. Normally the modem (DCE) supplies the line clock to the Cisco. I'm interested in (production) cases where you had to supply the clock from the cisco to the other side. I had to that 15 years ago when connecting an AGS back-to-back to a Datus X.25 switch.
