Ich habe (endlich!) Zeit gefunden kurz mit der Verantwortlichen vom
Gurten zu telefonieren.

Der Disclaimer ist jedoch, dass bis spätestens 19:30 der Apero fertig
sein muss. Auf dem Gurten findet durch den Sommer ein Freilicht Theater
Spektakel statt weshalb, verständlicherweise, kein störender Lärm von
Veranstaltungen rundherum gemacht werden darf. Ich denke aber, dass es
kein Problem sein sollte, wenn der Apero mal ein paar Minuten kürzer ist.

available due to delays from the silicon vendors (e.g. Broadcom

Finecom and some other ISPs got the same 'Verfügung' already one year before. 
Due to the trick with the
deadline for the 'Rekurs' over christmas and new year we (and also some other 
ISPs) failed to oppose. 

It's interesting to see, that the judge decided to use a new (and even larger) 
list of ISPs than one year
before. Case Nr etc. is still the same...

Seit Freitag tritt mit einzelnen ZyXEL ADSL-Routern der alten Gerätegeneration 
eine Störung auf. Soweit bis heute bekannt, sind folgende Modelle betroffen: 

ZyXEL P-650 
ZyXEL P-652 

Das Problem äusserst sich darin, dass der Router kurz nach dem Login rebootet, 
d. h. ein Internetzugang ist nicht möglich.

Die Ursache dieser Störung konnte bis jetzt nicht geklärt werden. Es könnte 
sich aufgrund erster Erkenntnisse um eine Attacke aus dem Internet handeln, die 
bei jenen Modellen zu dieser ungewünschten Reaktion führen. 
Studerus Telecom und ZyXEL arbeiten mit Hochdruck an der Lösung des Problems. 

Wieviele User von diesem Problem betroffen sind, ist noch unklar. Wir gehen 
aber davon aus, dass die Störung nicht bei allen P-65x-Modellen auftritt. Von 
diesen Gerätetypen sind 1'000ende im Markt verbreitet, Reklamationen sind 
jedoch erst wenige eingegangen.

There were a few approches until now, already with low success or
technical implications (other sites also blocked, etc.)

The discussion now happend on society level. Any bigger ISP will
never offically reject such blocking requests for child pornography
in a tv interview as this can hardly hit their image in the public.

The technical questions of the blocking are completly fadet out. They
didn't really care anyone. Blocking can and will definitivly not work.
Endusers can implement workarrounds in less than a minute. Other
questions
like, who's maintaining the list etc. are not even discussed.

I'm really concerned about the way that this story will/ can go...

Hi Marcel

I didn't have it in use and as the G2 is very new, i'm not
sure if someone has it already in its lab for testing.

In general you can expect at least twice the performance of 
an NPE-G1 plus some nice-to-have features like USB port, 3rd 
PCI bus (I/O Jacket), support for more MEM and SFPs for the 
GigE ports. There will be also a NPE-G2 version for the CMTS,
but i didn't have any FCS informations.

Für Ciscos Image in Sicherheitsbelangen kommt es immer noch dicker: Nach der 
unglücklichen Rolle des Netzwerk-Spezialisten Cisco bei dem Vortrag zu 
Cisco-Schwachstellen vergangene Woche und einem kurz darauf veröffentlichten 
Heap-Overflow bei der Verarbeitung von IPv6-Paketen wurden nun offenbar die 
Zugangsdaten von Cisco-Kunden kompromittiert: Wer versucht, sich auf dem 
Webserver von Cisco für das Support-Management und Bestellungen anzumelden, 
erhält die Meldung:  

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

* Cisco has determined that Cisco.com password protection has been compromised. 

Als Vorsichtsmaßnahme hat Cisco die Zugangspasswörter zurückgesetzt, wie ein 
Mitarbeiter der Cisco-Hotline auf Anfrage von heise Security bestätigte. 
Besonders prekär ist diese Situation, weil bei Cisco nicht etwa Hinz und Kunz 
Patches für Cisco-Geräte herunterladen darf: Wer seinen Router beispielsweise 
gegen die vergangenen Freitag gemeldete Schwachstelle in der Behandlung von 
IPv6-Paketen absichern will, braucht dazu in der Regel einen Zugang zu Ciscos 
Software-Distributions-Center. 

Wann der reguläre Betrieb wieder aufgenommen werden kann, konnte der 
Mitarbeiter nicht sagen, auch eine offizielle Stellungnahme von Cisco zu den 
Vorgängen steht noch aus. Aufgrund des Ansturms von Anfragen an Cisco wird die

Nah, the customer doesn't take care how the stream will come
to its PC. The rest is question of your network planning and
your decision, from where you buy your transit.
