Summary: Keyboard shortcuts interferes with param values

Initial Comment:
I've set many of my shortcuts to single keys, like "a" for select all and "d"
for deselect.

When writing in param input fields those characters can't be used, the tool is
activated instead.
As an example it's impossible to write "Arial" in a text layer font family
string field...
Same for layer name inputs.
Also I tried to set play canvas to "," and stop to "." - Not a good idea, I'm
not able to write real values with decimals... timeline starts playing as soon
as I hit ","...

In text layer "text" value where there is an input text box popping up those
key can be used.

Message:
It is working properly now.

Unfortunately the solution introduced another issue, shortcuts is no longer
consistent over the interface. Play only work when canvas is selected but
not when timeline is selected, /canvasview/select-all-ducks only works when
canvas is selected etc. I'll post a new bug report for it.

Summary: Menu not always appearing with right click

Initial Comment:
When right clicking in the canvas window, aiming at nothing to invoke the main
menu or at an object for contextual menu, sometimes works sometimes doesn't in
a very random manner.

I'm using x64 Ubuntu 10.10 with gnome and it affects the 0.62 version from
repository and 0.63 deb from website.
I tried 0.63 on a x86 Ubuntu 11.04 without noticing this bug.

Initial Comment:
According to this article; http://synfig.org/Keyboard_Shortcuts_(Flash) you can
change hotkeys by altering the accelrc file in ~/.synfig/.
This file is however overwritten with the default file everytime you open
Synfig Studio so your custom settings does not stick.

I think recreating the file only if it's missing would be the solution (it is
hinted in the help-file that this is the behaviour Synfig is supposed to have).

Initial Comment:
When edit a gradient, and you select a CPoint by clicking on its triangle
slider it is not set white as usually did. It stills black, what makes very
difficult to know which CPoint are you editing each time. I've noticed since I
upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04.
I would like it were confirmed in other versions/platforms.

draw a bline
select it with the normal tool
switch to the bline tool and the bline's ducks are unselected

however,
select it with the normal tool,
switch to the zoom tool,
and then to the bline tool, and the ducks aren't hidden

they're hidden as soon as you start drawing, but it's a strange behavior.

Message:
When exiting the zoom state, an EVENT_REFRESH_DUCKS is processed, which
calls canvas_view_->queue_rebuild_ducks(). queue_rebuild_ducks() runs

When using the Bline tool and have set:

strange.
When using the bline tool the right click context menu doesn't appear when

145 pt, then it works.

when you right-click, studio looks to see if you're right-clicking on an
existing selected bline. in the bline tool you're often drawing a bline as
you move the mouse. right-clicking then always is on a bline, since the
mouse is right over it. we need to tell synfig to ignore the bline that is
currently being drawn, if any, when checking whether you're pointing at a
bline, but it's not clear how to do this.

Modifying the loop:
for(std::list >::const_iterator
iter=bezier_list().begin();iter!=bezier_list().end();++iter)
in synfig-studio/trunk/src/gtkmm/duckmatic.cpp to stop before the last
element of the list when a bline is currently being drawn would fix the
problem.

class studio::StateBLine_Context in
synfig-studio/trunk/src/gtkmm/state_bline.cpp has a member "curr_duck"
which is maybe useful.

Summary: Angles are recalculated to 360 mod

Initial Comment:
Using svn 1114

Angles that are rounded to 360 module when creating the waypoints.

For example if you set the following values in animation mode to an angle
parameter:

frame :: value

0f :: 0.0 DEG
5s :: 1799 DEG

then you get:

0f :: 0.0 DEG
4s23f :: -0.99 DEG
5s :: 1799 DEG (this is -1.00 DEG when rounded to 360 DEG)

You get an smooth angle but a break in the graph.
Also you don't get the number of turns you wanted to achieve when inserted a
high angle value. 1799 DEG is almost 5 turns.

this is because the shortest way from 100 to -100 is by going through 200.
Going the other way (100,0,-100) is a turn of 200 degrees, but going this
way (100, 200, 260) is only 160 degrees.  I think that's the way it's
working - taking the shortest route, and treating all x+y*360 angles as x+0
for all y.

After further discussion, it looks like a good solution would be to store
angles as numbers just like reals, without wrapping mod 360. When
manipulating a tangent using its duck, for instance, the duck should keep a
track of how many rotations the tangent has gone through. So pick up a
tangent duck at 30 degrees, turn it through exactly 360 degrees and drop it
where you picked it up from and its new angle should be 390 degrees, not 30
as it currently is.

This cause also that you obtain strange movements when inserting values
that are +/- value:

frame :: value

0f :: 0 DEG
3s :: 100 DEG
6s :: -100 DEG

you obtain

0f :: 0 DEG
3s :: 100 DEG
5s23f :: 257.74 DEG (what is near to 360 DEG - 100 DEG = 260 DEG)
6s :: -100 DEG

So when you expect that the angle do 0, 10, 20, ... 90, 100, 90, 80, ...
10, 0, -10, ... -80, -90, -100
you obtain 0, 10, 20, ... 90, 100, 110, 120, ... 220, 230, 240, 250, -100.

Initial Comment:
Hold control, and drag the mouse over 3 or more ducks, from 2 of more different
blines.  Release, and studio crashes.

It's supposed to create a new region I think. It works if all the ducks are
from the same outline.

Summary: editing fps for a document doesn't update timetrack dialog

Initial Comment:
If I create a document with 24FPS, then make and select a layer, the timetrack
dialog allows me to select time frames with a resolution of 1/24th of a second,
as expected.

If I then edit the document's properties, setting it to be 1FPS instead, the
timetrack dialog doesn't see the change, and still lets me select time frames
in 1/24th of a second resolution. Switching to a different document and back
again makes it update correctly, as does saving and reverting the document.

Summary: strange "groups" behavior

Initial Comment:
v.0.61.06 r705
assigning layers to make a new group works fine, but assigned layers to
allready made groups doesn't show up in the groups until you close the project
and load again.
For these tasks:
"Remove group" (in Groups tab)
"add layers to group" and "remove layers from a group" (r-click in layers tab)
It is not possible to show the changes until you have saved and closed the
project and reloaded it again.

"Add a new group" in groups tab, adds a group but you're not able to name it
and it is impossible to check the checkbox to make contents visible, when saved
and reopened the checkbox will be checked but you're still not able to name the
group.

yes everything seems to work fine now, it's only these 2 things to fix:

name
> it and it is impossible to check the checkbox to make contents visible,
> when saved and reopened the checkbox will be checked but you're still

It seems that when you select layers and 'add to group', it only adds the
encapsulation layers (until you reload).

I had the opportunity to try this on a clean install of XP2 on an Intel
Quad core 2 machine. Doing the same steps on 4 logical CPUs caused the
crash. Using Windows task manager to restrict the CPU affinity to only
CPU0 allowed it to work.

restrict Synfigstudio to run on only one CPU works around this issue.

Summary: synfig configure doesn't prefer the system libltdl

Initial Comment:
synfig's configure process does not use the system
libltdl when available, instead linking the embedded
version in statically, without using -fPIC. This causes
problems on non-i386 platforms, which need PIC to work.

The best solution to this is to prefer the system
libltdl. If that can't be done, synfig needs to be sure
to compile libltdl with PIC.

 pxegeek: (for when you return): until I figure out how to fix this
properly, in configure.ac, changing AC_LIBLTDL_INSTALLABLE to
AC_LIBLTDL_CONVENIENCE and reautotooling should allow you to build
 hmm, doesn't seem to be a way to use the convenience libltdl, but
use the system-wide one in preference to it

 I think that I have to agree with that post, and that we should

 synfig: Use AC_LIBLTDL_CONVENIENCE instead of
AC_LIBLTDL_INSTALLABLE because Win32
 synfig: doesn't seem to be able to link a libsynfig DLL to a
libltdl DLL and there
 synfig: doesn't seem to be a way to compile libltdl statically and
libsynfig
 synfig: dynamically.

[Synfig-devl] [ synfig-Bugs-3474332 ] Play/pause by shortcut causes canvas to stop updating.

Summary: Play/pause by shortcut causes canvas to stop updating.

Initial Comment:
If I play/stop playback of the canvas, often the canvas stops responding. It
doesn't update when moving the bar in the timeline but the animation can still
be played back. Stopping animation then puts the canvas back to the frame it
froze on.

It happens almost always if I play/paus rapidly.

I haven't been able to trigger this bug with the default play/stop shortcuts
(ctrp+p/Escape) but it can always be triggered (as far as my tests go) when
changing the shortcuts to something else like comma/period or greater
than/lesser than.
I've also never been able to trigger this bug by using the play/pause buttons.

To reproduce change play/pause shortcuts in the accelrc file, then open Synfig.
Create a circle and in animation mode place it at left side of canvas. Then on
last frame move it to right side of canvas.
Scrub timeline and see canvas update.
Hit play/paus a couple of times scrub back and forth a bit and eventually see
the canvas stop updating.
