RE: Application main window

2015-03-07 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Hi,
A workaround in thunderbird may be to open messages in tabs instead of Windows.
In Thunderbird go to tools/options/advance.
Select the reading tab and switch from opening messages in windows to tabs.

I personally run Thunderbird this way as it seems to be more responsive when
opening messages.

I wrote to the list previously on this, but wasn't sure if it went
through or what.
Anyway, I was curious if there is a way to have Window-eyes stop saying
"application main window" everytime it switches to a different window. I
noticed it does this a lot in Thunderbird -- usually saying it twice in
a row when opening a message. Can I turn this off under verbocity
settings or something?

Thanks.

RE: I installed Outlook 2010, but window eyes 9.1 isn't recognizing the set of files.

2015-03-07 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Hi,
Close Outlook.
Go to the Window-eyes control panel.
Select the file menu/factory settings.
Locate the Office 2010 settings and install them.

After that, run AppGet with Windows-g.
You need to install the Outlook enhance and Office Enhance apps.

Hello all,
I just purchased Microsoft outlook 2010. I did not purchase the rest of the
office programs, only outlook. Window eyes doesn't read the ribbon, or anything
in the software except the search edit box
It doesn't seem like window eyes is recognizing that I have Outlook installed.
How do I correct this?
Thanks,

I respectfully say your wrong to tell people to downgrade. Why it has not been
tested there are some users who say it works. I would advise try 9.01 if you
don't like it downgrade at that point.

Windows Explorer Freezing My System

The only solution I have found is not one that makes me happy. It is to

Window-Eyes and everything freezes.

I think the problem has to do with I Tunes. Every now and then I have

suggestion about the window-eyes upgrade installer

2015-03-07 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk

Hi guys

I got to thinking after upgrading to Wineyes 9.1 that during the
instalation process, there was a minute or two of time when it seemed
like nothing was happening, it was almost as if things got stuck, even
though it really didn't. When you first run the installer, you get a
message that says the process is starting and you do hear a few beeps
indicating that the instalation process has started, but after that,
there's no feedback on the screen that something is actually happening.
I even looked with the window-eyes cursor to see if I could get a fare
few clues as to what was happening, and I couldn't get any. Then
about 30 seconds later or so, I received the prompt asking me if i
wanted to upgrade to the latest version with the yes and no buttons. It
would be nice if there could be some kind of feedback that something is
happening during those first few seconds, this would help someone doing
their first upgrade to know that yes, the install process really is
indeed starting, and the necessary files are being prepared. I'm
guessing that's what that is? I know this might seem to be a bit of a
strange request, but after upgrading to 9.1 that idea occurred to me.
It's actually something I've thought of a lot before, but I could never
quite put it into words, so I hope this makes some kind of sense. I'm
talking about maybe having either some progress bars appear on the
screen, or to have some kind of audible indication, kind of like what
happens when the default apps are installed after you have to restart
your computer after the instalation process is over, this happens in
windows 7, not sure about it in windows 8 land. Either way, I hope that
can possibly happen, i know that maybe new users might appreciate that
because they might think their computers are stuck on this screen for a
really long time.

Thanks!

Re: A Question on Upgrading to WE 9.1

2015-03-07 Thread Butch Bussen via Talk
I agree, but there are always those who just love that microsoft cool
aid. I've run latest versions in xp with no issues at all. I've got a
half dozen computers around the house doing various things and I'm
certainly not going to upgrade all of them. We all get it, xp isn't
supported and not tested. Believe me, we know!!! For now, I run it
anyhow..

Re: Application main window

2015-03-07 Thread Dave Bahr via Talk
Yep, i'm with you on this one, happens when you open a window that
relates in some way to browse mode, has been doing this ever since win7.
That one along with, window, task switching, are the two verbocity
elements I would love to not have spoken if at all possible. I guess I'm
wondering why, with such fine-grained control of verbocity, those two
elements remain in place as unchangable items? Could someone from the
dev team or AI Squared tech support please elaborate on their purpose as
a control element and the reason for their being spoken multiple times
in apps like thunderbird? I feel like if i knew the root of the issue it
would make more sense for me to understand why this has not been change
in spite of numorous requests to understand the issue from an end user's
perspective.

thanks, dave

I respectfully say your wrong to tell people to downgrade. Why it has
not been tested there are some users who say it works. I would advise
try 9.01 if you don't like it downgrade at that point.

Hi. You can go straight from 8.4 to 9.1 without first removing 8.4. just do
the following...

1. go to the WE control panel
2. Go to the help menu with alt plus h

3. Go to check for updates and your upgrade will be generated. You'll find a
link that says download window-eyes 9.1. press enter on that and your upgrade
will download, and the instalation process will begin. i hope that helps!

I ran microsoft security essentials and it never ever found the stuff that

no infection, but I gave it to somebody to work on, and he said he found

I looked at the add-ins and there was a message that OutlookEnhance had
crashed Outlook.

I go there by going to the information item under the file menu, tabbing to
add-ins and reading that message.

I Rebooted and reading of messages in Outlook came back.

I think this has been mentioned a week or 2 ago but I forget if there is a
fix for this problem.

It was not happing for awhile in WE 8.4 but was happening so perhaps someone
had a fix but installing WE 9.1 may have undid the fix.

Ok, WE just died in the middle of typing this. I fired up narrator and
finished this message.

I can hear WE reading while I type in conjunction with narrator but WE will
not review anything - it is dead again - I have to use narrator.

Note: I am back in this message after going into WindowEyes and checking the
OutlookEnhance settings and ensure it was running and it was ok I think.

Now WindowEyes is reading what I type and it is reviewing this message
again.

I changed nothing in the settings.

Have any ideas how to stop this from happening?

I forget if there was a fix when this was happening in WE 8.4 or if I just
got lucky for a few days.

Hi. You can go straight from 8.4 to 9.1 without first removing 8.4.
just do the following...

1. go to the WE control panel
2. Go to the help menu with alt plus h

3. Go to check for updates and your upgrade will be generated. You'll
find a link that says download window-eyes 9.1. press enter on that and
your upgrade will download, and the instalation process will begin. i
hope that helps!

Subject: trouble reading edit boxes

  Hi guys

This is actually a message about my girlfriend's laptop, it runs windows
7 64-bit with the latest window-eyes 9.1. Interestingly enough when the
problem I'm about to describe started happening, she was running
window-eyes 8.4, but I thought upgrading to 9.1 might solve the problem.
Unfortunately, it didn't so here I am. What's happening is that for
whatever reason she's unable to read edit boxes in certain applications
like her twitter client called Chicken Nugget, and most notably in
Miranda NG, which she uses for Facebook chat. when you're in a text
area you should be able to use your arrow keys to read back what you've
written letter by letter, sentence by sentence, etc. However, when she
tries to do this, window-eyes simply says blank, blank, blank. This
happened after she rebooted her pc after it locked up for whatever
reason, i'm not quite sure why. Either way, Is there a fix for this? I
am considering having her do a system restore to try and bring the pc
back to a time before this started happening, but because she upgraded
to 9.1 i'm not sure if this would be a real issue. These edit boxes
read just fine with other screenreaders, but they won't read using
window-eyes. Something is not allowing these edit boxes to read. So

Why don't window eyes say something when you hit the back space key? I get

The wav file, forget which one I tried, worked like a charm and the sound is
reduced to an audible level quite noticible but not overpowring.

The script could use some tweaking to my own preferences but it works well
enough out of the box to get the job done as well and so additional thanks
to whoever created it.

OutlookEnhance crashed Outlook

2015-03-07 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
I tried to open and read a message but all it said was "plain text" and
nothing worked after that for any messages in the reading of the message.

Opening and closing Outlook did no good.

You'll
find a link that says download window-eyes 9.1. press enter on that and
your upgrade will download, and the instalation process will begin. i

Re: wlm and 9.1

2015-03-07 Thread Steve Jacobson via Talk
I thought the one-line view was a requirement before 9.0, but I could be wrong.
There are a lot of moving parts here, including the WLM script and the set
files that used to play a more important role. Even Windows Live Mail has had
some updates over the past year or so. Therefore, I could certainly be
remembering incorrectly now, but I do know that the one-line view seems to work
fine for me now.

Steve Jacobson

Amazon's manage your content and devices

2015-03-07 Thread Andre via Talk
I have a Kindle unlimited subscription and when I go to the manage your
content and devices page on Amazon, the return button does not read. So I
can't return a book. I have to resort to nvda. I like that layout better.
With nvda the return link does read. Plus nvda actually says something like
"borrow date" March 7th. But in WE 9.1 it does not say it like that. Plus in
WE 9.1 I must go to the bottom of the page to confirm deletion. But one of
my main problems is that with the dynamic content, I would love for my
favorite screen reader to somehow update me that the content of the page has
changed. Otherwise, I have to sit there wondering if it was just the
shortcut key combinations that didn't work as occurs sometimes when you hit
enter on a link or spacebar and the link doesn't activate. That last bit was
just an example of a shortcut key combo that I was referring to. So does
anyone have any other solutions for using WE 9.1 to navigate this amazon
page?

sure whether the problem is Window-eyes or Eloquence. I do know for
certain that Thunderbird 24.6 crashes because, if W E is still
running, I can go to the task manager where I get the message asking
whether I wish to wait for the program or close it, the program being
Thunderbird 24.6. After such crashes, pressing control alt W does
not always cause W E to resume.

I am now at least temporarily using the Outlook Express hack if or
until I can resolve the Thunderbird issues. I know some tend to say
almost automatically that I should upgrade to the latest
Thunderbird. But I am reluctant to do so because of the constant
nags about Thunderbird thinks that some messages are spam.

In other areas, Window-Eyes 9.1 is working well for me unless I move
around the screen too rapidly. In 9.0, I had thought there were
problems with the f8 copy command but later found that this command
works far better with Notepad or Wordpad than it does with Ed sharp.

Thanks for the improvements as they are much appreciated.

Hi John,

Taptapc is an app that does what you require but it costs per set ammount of
pictures. However there are free apps out there. I use one called goggle
eyes and it works great. Very easy to use and it is free. The paid app costs
very little but removes advertisements. There is another app and it is free
but can't remember the name of it. You can find information on these apps at

   Hi Trey,

The taptapc app is not a free app. I think one has to pay per set ammount of
pictures. It only works with the iphone.

However there are other aps that are similar and free. I use Goggle eyes
which can be found at the app store. It is completely free and scans tins,
packet's bgottles for print and then tells you in a clear voice what it is.

Take care.

RE: browse mode error when booting

2015-03-07 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
If you want place markers and the enhance properties command (insert-e) you
need Browse mode enhance.
If you don't want those features , you can remove it.

Does it happen every time?

RE: How do you turn off chromevox?

2015-03-07 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
If you installed ChromeVox, you have what they refer to as ChromeVox, like jaws
refers to the "JAWS key" or VoiceOver says VO for its modifiers.

In ChromeVox you can have the modifier set to control-alt or shift-alt and when
your told to hit ChromeVox-a twice, this means you would press alt-control-a
twice or alt-shift-a twice really depending on how you have your ChromeVox set
up.

I know the default used to be alt-control but switched mine to alt-shift a long
time ago. Not sure if that is the new default.
For more information on ChromeVox, go to:

I haven't tried chrome for very long but just wanted to try it out. So how
do I turn off chromevox? Is there a way to do that or do I have to uninstall
or unload it from extension settings? I don't want my WE 9 eloquence being
interfered withby the chromevox voice.

Much thanks,
