RE: Avast Question

2015-05-06 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Hi,
When I tried it about a year ago, it didn't work well at all.
Under Windows 7 I couldn't do much with it. Under windows 8.1 I could at
least tab through the options in the dialogs but the state of check boxes were
always reported as unchecked regardless of their actual state.

Under Windows 7 I had to get sighted help to remove it as Window-eyes wouldn't
read the dialogs at all.
Windows 8.1 I could uninstall it independently.

Just my experience.

accessible is it with Window-Eyes?

Thanks,

2015-05-06 Thread Jim Grimsby JR. via Talk
Hello,
I have been a subscriber of game day audio since 2009. As far as
accessibility goes, I have never had any difficulty

there was a problem last week, we're games were not being shown as links
when they turned into archives. This was only on the accessible site. I used
the standard media Center site, quite frankly, the information was shown by
window-eyes quite oddly. I reported the problem with the archives to major
league baseball and it has now been corrected, so I am back to using the
accessible site. I do think however, that the window-eyes team should have a
look at this website.

Its funny, I thought it was just me when the links were dead once they
became archives. Either way, the accessible site or the main media
center are both quite usable with one big minus on the accessible site.
In an archive game, unlike the regular mediacenter, you can't rewind or
fastforward: if so, its a visual slider wherein with the main
mediacenter, there are links to fastforward, rewind, etc. In the
accessible site, simply pause, increase or decrease volume, that's it.

Repetitive lines on Web pages drive me nuts!, how bout you?

2015-05-06 Thread Larry Higgins via Talk

Listers,

I have been intending to post this question for a very long time, but
just never managed to do it. Maybe having a rather out of date system
With WE 7.2, and somewhat bound to IE 6, if I remember precisely, I
thought this might have been attributed to some new quirk, or an
Inadequate aspect of the old browser, but I ran into this issue this
morning on the following URL.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3069645/Jimi-Hendrix-s-drum-kit-memorabilia-sold-pittance-repossessed-lock-wife-didn-t-pay-fees.html

The issue is constantly repetitive lines throughout the reading of the
page. I also gave some consideration to the idea that WE was at fault
here, but after taking a look around, it turns out not to be so.

Therefore, I guess my question is as follows. Have any of you found a
way to filter out these instances of repetitiveness, or do you, like me,
just grit your teeth and suffer through them?

These kinds of pages aren't the kind I find myself visiting all that
often, but some times a story catches my ear, and like everyone else on
the Web, one link can so easily lead to another - you get the picture.
But this is not all that unusual in my experience. And it doesn't matter
all that much what news service you might look at, this issue pops up
periodically.

If anyone could shed some light, or give me some kind of work-around for
this issue, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Larry

I went to the url you provided, Larry. Too bad the widow Mitchell didn't go
in there and have a look see--sounds like she could have used the money. The
only instances of seemingly repetitive text might be alt text for images or,
like on some wikipedia articles, captions to photos that somehow end up
included in the article as well as accompanying the photo. I'd have to say
it's poor presentation, not a screen reader issue.

This was with WE nine point one, IE eleven, and Windows seven.

problems with Window-eyes and Google Chrome

2015-05-06 Thread Kevin Huber via Talk
Hi:
I have a couple of problems when I am using Window-eyes and Google
Chrome to read articles or email messages.
First, when I am reading an article or an email message, the first
character of a line is absent, for instance, if a line begins with the
word "and" Window-eyes just reads "nd".
The other problem that I just discovered is that when I am writing an
email from my gmail account, I cannot read what I have just written in
either the message body or the TO and SUBJECT fields.
I do not notice this behaviour when I am using Nvda with Google
Chrome, nor do I notice it when I am using Firefox or Internet
explorer.
What is the problem.

Re: signing up for MLB audio

I'd call mlb, if you can't find the number, I'll look on their page.
You can get radio bbroadcast audio for $19.95 a year, I've been doing
that for the past several years.

Hello, After reading the posts about MLB broadcasts, it sounds like MLB and
speech are working well enough together. So, I visited mlb.com and saw how
to sign up for MLB TV, but can someone tell me how to sign up for the audio
broadcast of games. That part I couldn't find. Thanks for any help you can
give.

Re: win 8 question.

2015-05-06 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk
If it's the same as Windows 7 just go to WLM in the start menu, hit the
Applications key, or Shift-F10, to open the context menu.
Arrow down to Send to and right arrow to open it. Then arrow down. There
should be "Desktop (create shortcut)" or something similar. I say
something similar because changing names seems to be half of what
constitutes a new version of Windows. (grin)

WE 9.1 and Win 10 latest preview mouse problem

2015-05-06 Thread Loy via Talk
I have some vision and I am trying the latest version of Win 10 preview and WE
9.1 seems to be working very well with it. Except for the mouse pointer
disappearing when WE is running, turn WE off and the mouse pointer reappears.
Hope this will be fixed before the final Win 10 version comes out.

using WE copy and paste

2015-05-06 Thread Kurt Yount via Talk
I have JAWS and NVDA on my system as well as WE. When I tried to use it
before I could not do so. I just redownloaded it yesterday. To save an
address in the other two programs I can hit shift and the middle bottom
key of the six-pack. If I do this in WE it says a huge amount of
material. Why is this and how do you save less than a line of text like
an email address? Kurt
