Is there an easy way I can experiment with the various synthesizers without losing my settings? I'm not too familiar with the role these synthesizers play in my interaction with WE. Re: LibreOffice
Even the free screen reader works well with LibreOffice. I use it. I am afraid Window-Eyes has completely lost the plot here. LibreOffice has a UNO Accessibility API (UAA) in which all elements of the UI and documents expose all the information about themselves and their contents. UAA and JAA have some advantages over the off-screen models of AT tools or the Microsoft Active Accessibility API (MSAA). UAA and JAA provide extended information for the document content, so AT tools do not have to get information via different proprietary application APIs from various applications, or by hooking into the display drivers. An enormous effort has been made to have UI elements and document contents fully support the accessibility interfaces; for example: providing text with attributes and character bounds information, and sending all the necessary notifications and providing names and descriptions of controls. All AT tools which are able to work with Java applications via the Java Access Bridge will also run with LibreOffice. WE typing in the address bar in IE
I had this problem previously in Windows-7 and earlier versions of WE IE. When I type a URL in the address bar, and I make a mistake, I use the backspace key to erase the error. However, WE seems to be reading the letters twice. For example, if I type gwmicro.com, then decide to back space over each letter, it might say MMOOCC instead of mOC. Is this a WE problem or an IE problem? Nick ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. Yep I'm still not sure why everyone has such trouble with the standard google. I do have to admit that when they changed the search box from an edit box to a combo box i was a bit confused for a second, but it was the only place to type in the search so I figured that had to be the right thing, so it works just fine for me. All there are are links and a search box that looks like a combo box. It's really not all that bad. Re: Can I turn off the clanger in Outlook
I just listened to the file in question and I'm not sure where people are coming up with this clanger thing? It actually reminds me of a doorbell, at least with Windows 7. I called my service provider about this vary problem earlier this week. My cell phone and household cable is through ATnT. In the pass I had no problems getting help with email issues. It's a folder containing at least four files, in some instances there are maybe more, but for purely text formats there are four. They include: a .ncx, an .opf, an .smil and an .xml file. This last one, by the way, is completely readable with MS Word, and convertible by it to .txt, which is how most of us deal with DAISY packages. The advantage of DAISY files is that they allow you the freedom of moving freely and selectably, forward or backward through a document by several levels of headings, by page, and even by bulletted list items, such as the ingredient lists in cookbook recipes. It's wonderful, and completely re-writes the reading and studying experience using books and magazines. More advanced forms of DAISY files incorporate the same facilities combining both text and audio files, and allows both kinds of files to be indexed to each other, so that you could move between both audio and tex, from audio to text and back, never losing your place. Think of listening to an audio book and being able to get the spelling of any word, or the formatting of any phrase on command. Don't think we're quite there, yet, but eventually that's where DAISY is going. Re: About the list
HI Larry: If I remember correctly, when i called AISquared support about this issue a few months ago, the guy that I was talking to said that they had had a few listers complain about that. When I looked in my Trash folder and started moving the messages back to my inbox, all the new messages started coming to my inbox again. I cannot explain why, except that possiblyy when I deleted messages after I read them, I accidentally pressed the Spam button on my Gmail page instead of the Delete button. Anyway, It is rather misterious how these things happen, but if I were you I would first call AISquared and see if they can help you to resolve it, then if they haven't resolved it, call your service provider and see if they have an answer. Kevin Huber On 6/24/15, Larry Higgins larryhiggin...@comcast.net wrote: Kevin, Now this is a little strange. Your message came to both my Comcast and Gmail accounts, but nothing else has shown up in my Comcast account since last Thursday. They aren't going to my trash folder either. I mean, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they should end up there, but it would have to be a gremlin or something to bring it about, or maybe not. 'Puters can have minds of their own at times. RE: Using Place Markers
I've had the same problem. I've tried setting the same place marker on the same page using both the applies to web page and domain. I don't know about anybody else, but the manual text below: Applies to: W = Webpage - Radio button - If the apply to webpage radio button is selected, the place marker you are adding will only work on the current web page. For example, a place marker saved for the web page www.aisquared.com will only work on that web page. D = Domain - Radio button - If the apply to domain radio button is selected, the place marker you are adding will work on any web page containing the same domain name. For example, a place marker saved for the domain aisquared.com will work on any page on the aisquared.com website. is confusing to me because with the exception of the www in example one, the web page and the domain are the same. Or am I missing something about the magic of www? Regardless, when I try to set a place marker on, for example, the page http://townhall.com/columnists/michaelbarone/2015/06/26/facing-a-changing-wo rld-balance-obama-makes-odd-choices-n2017341?utm_source=thdailyutm_medium=e mailutm_campaign=nlnewsletterad= and use view full article as the target text, the place marker only works during the visit when I set the place marker. When I open links in the Townhall newsletter by other columnists on different days and am taken to the Townhall/columnists page for other articles, the place marker no longer works. I should have thought that one or the other of the applies to radio buttons would work, but nope. suggestions for Window-Eyes certification program
Hello list, and to AI Squared staff. Sky here. I have a suggestion about the Window-Eyes certification. Would it be possible to shift the certification policies to where if you did not complete the test, you could give it another try? The reason I asked, is because I took the Window-Eyes certification test today, and their were questions that I had to guess my answers to, and I scored 81% on the test but didn't end up passing it. I spent 6 hours reading the manual today and their were questions that needed answering that wasn't talked about in the manual or tutorial like what was the first thing that is taught in the Window-Eyes introduction to app classes? Because I got 81% it'll mean re-ordering a new certification test and repaying it from the beginning again. While it might be ok for us who are rich, etc, I think a thing could be put in place where if A window-eyes certifier did not complete the test, he or she should be able to take the test again even after it was already paid. This way, the client could look up the information that he or she missed out on, and then when he or she is ready to take the test, he or she should be able to use the same order code to take another test as many times as he or she likes until he or she got it right. That way, they wouldn't have to worry about wasteing a lot of money after 30 days. What do you think of this idea?
