RE: Thunderbird filter construction problem

2016-04-18 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi,

I believe the keystroke to pull down a combo box in the filter creation wizard
used to be Alt-DownArrow, and, also, I recall that, if the keystroke didn't
work, you had to press spacebar on the control in order to get the darn thing
to drop down. Smile

Hth,

Rod

Hi there, when creating a filter it should say as you tab through the options
choose folder.
press control and down arrow and the list of folders will appear.
Use the down arrow key and you will hear local folders etc.

go to the folder you wish to have the email sent too and press enter.

Tab across to okay and this will create the filter you are making.

You can now also have email that you send to somewhere filtered.

This feature is handy!

Re: blank page for Internet

2016-04-18 Thread Mike Wilkens via Talk
Under IE's Tools menu itemsget down to Internet options (or something like
this) and set your home site to:
About:Blank
but don't recall whether caps are needed for the 2 words.  This is 1980s
architecture.
By setting this one avoids downloading all of the stuff from a web site each
time one initiates IE.

Re: Any ideas on how to get WE for Office out of demo mode anybody

2016-04-18 Thread Kevin Huber via Talk
Hi Larry:
Did you check which synthe you are using? If it is a licensed one
like Eloquence, it will be in demo mode unless you have license for
that synth.
Your best bet is to switch to Espeak and then try Window-eyes. If it
is no longer in demo mode, then you can look for one that sounds
better. Actually, I am runnning espeak as I speak, (smile), and I
have gotten used to it.

That's good to know. The laptop I'm going to be getting soon has Win10 on it
and I'll need to use the office version of WE until I can afford to purchase
a new SMA. The thought of having to listen to those horrible ESpeak voices
all day every day had me cringing in dread. Granted I did purchase the
Vocalizer voices but I don't recall if those work with the Office version.

i went into the w e settings in verbocity and turned off clickable links. the
so called clickable links have never activated anything and this is with
windows 7.

***
in the search box type in sound card. choose change sound card settings. then
make sure you are in playback device and choose your default sound device.
press enter on it. then change the control tab from general to enhancements and
uncheck the use all enhancements. or something like that.

then the bass will be turned down and the treble turned up.
***
you should wait until you are notified that win10 is ready to install because
the installation you create with the creation tool will not have the del
drivers included.
the windows 10 files that were downloaded to your computer. should have the
drivers.
del seldom uses the microsoft drivers. they always create there own.

Subject: Clickable links, what do they do, and how do you access them?

OK, I guess the subject line pretty much says it all. But then again,
maybe a bit of explanation is in order after all.

Being a Dell owner, I hope I didn't goof by upgrading to Windows 10
without going first to the Dell Support page, and downloading the
upgrade through them instead. It seems that none of my Dell stuff is
working as it should, that is if it exists at all.

I am looking for some new drivers for my Realtek sound card, because it
seems to have changed in some way, and none of the settings that I can
find give me any relief. Experiencing a bit of distortion at high volume
that I've never had before.

Anyway, I am now visiting the Dell support page hoping to find
something, but I am running across lots of clickable links, and simply
pressing enter on them gives me no indication that anything has happens
in response. So, how do I make use of them?

And while I'm at it, does anybody have any ideas as to how to make this
card sound the way it should? or if I may put it more precisely, at
least sound the way it did before, with all its irritating subtleties?

I have to keep the volume on the card set a lot lower in order to keep
distortion to a minimum using WE, just to keep things on topic. Not to
mention, this extra bass is not making me very happy.

Who knows, I may have to get serious about removing my Audigy from my
old computer and installing it in the dell.

Anyway, as most of us know, rarely do upgrades go as smoothly as they
should, and this one does have a few wrinkles for sure.

Any help would sure be appreciated,

Larry

Re: Clickable links, what do they do, and how do you access them?

2016-04-18 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk
As Michael said, clickables open content on the same page. And there is
usually no indication that anything was done. So you have to navigate
the page to find the new information. Usually it's below where you were.

The problem with your booming soundcard is the audio enhancements, which
should be turned off for better performance anyway.

Control panel, Sound, Playback device, Properties, Advanced.
Check disable all enhancements or whatever it's called.

Hth,
Tom

Thunderbird filter construction problem

2016-04-18 Thread Donald L. Roberts via Talk
I have the same issue on a Windows 7 Asus laptop and a Windows 10 HP
desktop. On each of these machines, I am running Window-eyes 9.4.

I know that this can or previously could be done as I have done it
previously although not recently. I am constructing a filter in the
latest version of Thunderbird which will monitor incoming email messages
so as to move them into specified folders. The process goes fine until
I get to the step where I am asked to select the folder into which I
want the messages to be moved. I can see the list of email accounts
from which to choose. But if I left click on any of them, I am
unceremoniously kicked back to the message list. Just what am I
missing? I know with absolute certainty that this could be done in
previous versions of Window-eyes after which I could select using the
same method the folder into which I wanted the messages to be moved. So
Tom or other Thunderbird users, please tell me the secret as I frankly
don't remember it.

Thanks in advance for assistance.

Don Roberts

8.4 is the latest tested version for XP.
9.0 and 9.1 will install but it was never tested. 9.2 or above won't even
install on it.

Larry
