major google problem

2016-08-18 Thread Jed Barton via Talk

Hey guys,

Well, from my observation, we can all forget upgrading storage on
google, cause it appears to no longer be accessible at all. I really
need some help with this cause i have to upgrade mine.
When i get to the page, there are a bunch of things, telling me my
current storage, then it says plans list box, and i see nothing further.
When it says plans list box, i depress my enter key, arrow up and down
and see absolutely nothing. It appears we can no longer click on any
plans to upgrade. Any thoughts?

That's an interesting bit of info. I suppose there is a reason why the

window-Eyes states, "Not a valid key press."

I drop to the bottom of the web page and press the Shift-sslash key

When I opened the Window-Eyes control panel and navigated to the browse mode

Thunderbird retaining messages

2016-08-18 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi,

While doing a scan of Thunderbird's Profile folder recently with
Bullguard, I was amazed to find that very old messages were still
present and being scanned. Even messages from an account which had been
removed a couple of months ago were still there. It seems that although
messages are deleted from both the inbox and trash box, Thunderbird
moves them to another part of the Profile folder and retains them.

Over many years of using Thunderbird, several computer and Windows
updates, I had just copied the profile folder with all its settings from
one computer to another. The folder grew to about 6.5 gb in size and
when doing the scan, the reason for the growing size became obvious.

To get rid of the old messages, the following steps were taken.

The Mozzilla backup utility was used with email and history options
unchecked.

The three files in the Thunderbird folder, including the Profile folder,
were renamed followed by an install of the latest Tbird. This gave a
clean Profile folder of only a few megs in size.

The Mozzilla utility was then used to copy the settings for three
accounts back into the clean Profile folder. The size of the folder
only went up to about 14 mb.

The current size is about 24 mb but after using the compact folder item
found in the File menu as well as the remove history in the Tools menu,
the size drops down to around 18 mb.

In future, if the Profile folder continues to growafter using the two
items mentioned above, I'll consider using the Mozzilla backup utility
as explained above to keep the folder under control.

I suggest you check the size of your Profile folder particularly if
Thunderbird has been your email client for an extended time.

Cheers
Neville.

Although this may be contrary to what Window-Eyes says we should do, I
have found that if I have Thunderbird open and do control-alt-W,

of first line.

Control-Shift-S will speak the number of links, headings, frames, etc.
I just turned them back on and didn't have the problem. But I'm now

I assume you meant Control-backslash to open the Window-Eyes control

Hi every time I open A message in Thunderbird.
It will start reading and then.
It will either repete the first few words of whatever message that I am
reading.
Or the first few lines or the first line of A message that I am reading.
How do you get this to stop doing this.
Also when you have Thunderbird open and hit control back space.
It will say Thunderbird.
As the set file that is selected.
But then it will say selected non.
So how do you fix that as well or can't you fix that?

Yes, you can text from your computer to a cell phone. If you don't know the
carrier's SMS gateway address, no worries, just go here:

http://www.freesmsgateway.info/

In the edit box, type the phone number of the person you want to send a text
to and whack . Use the cursor keys to read the results provided.
You should have both the SMS gateway and the MMS gateway addresses displayed
and you can pick either to use for sending the text message from your
computer.

Note: THIS SERVICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO CANADIAN AND U.S. RESIDENTS!
Anywhere else in the world, no dice! Sorry for being too stingy but we come

the messenger. As an alternative, you could use Page Navigation to list all web
page controls in a dialog. Then you could use first letter navigation to jump
to the radio button of interest more quickly than navigating through all of
them sequentially on the web page.

Marc

Subject: Specified control keys--broken???

Hi, folks.

I'm on the Menards web page with browse mode on. Presented with a series of
check boxes on the water heater page--that's right, things are very cold
in the shower about now---I wanted to hop back to where I was by finding the
series of checked check boxes. Unfortunately, when I check a box, I'm booted
to the top of the page and have to find my way back. I had hoped the
specified control dialog would help me do that.

Just to make sure I'm doing it right. I'm in browse mode. I'm at the top of
the page. Not my choice, but... I press the keyboard slash character. Windo

window-Eyes states, "Not a valid key press."

I drop to the bottom of the web page and press the Shift-sslash key
combination and Window-Eyes states, "In control search mode, not a valid key
press." and then proceeds to do nothing at all.

When I opened the Window-Eyes control panel and navigated to the browse mode
hot keys, I did verify that the slash and Shift-slash hot key combinations
are defined.

Is it broken? Is Window-Eyes playing coy?

I'm not dealing with rejection very well these days, so I'll go take a cold
shower and wait for suggestions, verification, comiseration.

Thanx for reading,

Lou N.

Hi Don,
I could be wrong, but I think this feature might have been deprecated when

Re: how to get thunderbird to stop repeting itself with the firs tline or first few words of A message when you are reading A message

2016-08-18 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk
Regarding the repetition of lines? I fixed this somehow a long time ago
but can't remember what I did. Try disabling the Thunderbird app and see
if it still happens. I do remember that I went into Verbosity, Browse
mode, New page information 1 and 2 and set everything other than read
first 24 lines to program scope and turned it off. Control-Shift-S will
speak the number of links, headings, frames, etc. I just turned them
back on and didn't have the problem. But I'm now running a new much
faster system. Yet that information is still voiced after the first line
or two. So maybe that's why I turned it off.

I assume you meant Control-backslash to open the Window-Eyes control
panel. If the Thunderbird app hasn't changed the set files are not
associated. they're loaded by the app.

Hth,
Tom

Hi every time I open A message in Thunderbird.

It will either repete the first few words of whatever message that I am

How do you get this to stop doing this.

RE: somewhat off topic--can i text someone's phone from my computer

2016-08-18 Thread Diana Kube via Talk
There are a number of portals for sending texts from mobile phones. At work
I use SMS Global. I am not sure of what costs (if any) are involved but it
allows sending a text from a computer and receiving a return text from a
mobile. If you obtain services through SMS Global, you simply enter the
mobile phone num...@email.smsglobal.com. The only drawback sI have had are
that the texts can only be 2-3 lines of an email screen in length and it may
take somewhat longer for the reply to reach the sender.

It is not free, but does a fantastic and simple job.

It first will search your system for all available drives, and then let
you choose the Source and Target drive.

After that, lean back, and enjoy. It does take a bit of time to clone a
hard drive to an SSD, but just give the system its time. You will be
notified when job is done. Then turn off the computer, replace your
harddrive with the SSD, turn on, and you are right up working.

Did it all last week myself, and have used the Paragon Migrator a couple
of times before. It is all driven through a wizard interface, so you
will know what you are doing all the time. And it works nicely with
Window-Eyes. Chances are, though I have not tried, that it even will
work with NVDA.

RE: Browse Mode not Available

2016-08-18 Thread Mike via Talk

Hello Mark

This is a problem I have encountered for quite a while. I am now
using Windows 10 and it seems to happen even more often than with Win
7 8 and 8.1.

I have found that tabbing and checking every tab with control shift A
is the easiest method for me. Eventually you land on a link where WE
will say "Browse mode off" I then use control shift A again and I get
in to browse mode. Many web pages appear where We seems neither to be
in or out of browse mode. I think of it as being a browse limbo
zone. I'm using We 9.5.1 with Win 10.

Best wishes

Hi Barbara,
This is an intermittent issue that I have seen from time to time in
both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Assuming you are using a fully
updated version of Internet Explorer 11 without any additional
toolbars or extensions installed, I don't think there is anything
you can do to prevent the problem as it seems to occur randomly
without much of a pattern. Your best course of action is to try and
recover from the issue as quickly as possible. The troubleshooting
steps your listed are spot on. First, try to toggle Browse Mode to
see if it comes back. If not, try refreshing the web page. If that
fails, closing and reopening the browser is logical next step. If
that doesn't do the trick, relaunching Window-Eyes or restarting the
PC is recommended. I am curious to know if those using newer
versions of Windows are experiencing this problem more or less than
people using Windows 7.

Best,
Marc

Subject: Browse Mode not Available

Hi Everyone,

I have Windows 7, IE 11, and WE 9.51.

From time to time, I will go to a web site and get the message
browse mode not available. It is different sites and it occurs in a
haphazard pattern.
I have tried the F5 refresh key and this does not help. Nor does
toggling browse mode off/on using shift/control/a. So I close IE
and reopen it and go to the same web site and all works fine.

Any ideas what is going on and how to prevent this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Barbara

Sorry for being too stingy but we come
first, right?

Sincerely,
Olusegun
