RE: windows pc updates problem

2018-05-11 Thread anthony borg via Talk
Hi folks
Yesterday I got a pc updates and I tried the normal procedure by restarting
my computer, but unfortunately it didn't work.
So I tried to do it manually and it didn't work either. I can't understand
what I'm doing wrong.
Is there another way that I should do to install it?
Thanks in advance

Hi Anthony,
I don't use Outlook. But I just looked at the keyboard shortcuts page for
Outlook because I thought perhaps Control+Shift+B was in the Window-Eyes
scripts.
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/keyboard-shortcuts-for-outlook-3cde
b221-7ae5-4c1d-8c1d-9e63216c1efd
But Control+Shift+B is the native Outlook shortcut for the address book.
I then loaded NVDA because I still use Window-Eyes. I pressed NVDA+1 for key
describer mode. And Control+Shift+B is not a NVDA key combination.
So you should be able to just press it without pressing the bypass
combination first.
Hth,
Tom

Tony, yes, there is a small application called windows media creation tool. It
takes time but usually everything goes smoothly. You can download the media
creation tool from the Microsoft site.

2018-05-11 Thread Tom Fairhurst via Talk
I'm glad you worked it out. I realized I hadn't been getting updates in
Windows 7 for several months. I fixed my issue by using the update
troubleshooter. It took a long time, but I finally got things up to date. I
am getting the new updates asI expect.

2018-05-11 Thread Carol and Roger via Talk

Hi Group,

My brother has an issue with WE and Ebay that I do not have. My page
works properly, his does not. When I go to a page and do a search, I
get a standard page and pressing H takes me to each heading for the
search results (once I have gotten past the typical Ebay headings.)
Let's say we do the same search. My result is that I get 63 headings
and 42 results. He does the exact same search and gets 15 headings and
the only way he can get to the search results is to tab through all of
the 200 links. Therefore, he has to listen to all kinds of extraneous
information like buy it now, price, shipping cost, etc. My headings
simply go to the next item.

He is making a guess that there are three columns on his screen and the
information he wants is in the middle column, but WE will not take him
there. Even if he does a search and finds the first result, he still
can not get to the next item by pressing H.

If anyone can give me a hand in trying to help him, this would be
greatly appreciated. He has had this issue once before and was able to
restore the computer to a previous setting and all worked properly
again. The other issue with this situation is that his wife, when his
screen was not working correctly the previous time, had a normal
screen. This time, both screens are messed up and he can not find out
how to disable his anit-virus, whish I believe is AVG. His restore says
he can not restore due to his anti-virus blocking the restore process.
Thanks for any assistance.

2018-05-11 Thread Bob Tinney via Talk
I just noticed that WE does not support the new folder feature when you
want to create a new folder by hitting control shift n. NVDA and
Narrator do support this feature.

You can still use the new folder creation with the Window-Eyes bypass
key first, insert-b then control-shift-n works fine.

I don't know about that way to make a folder. I always get into the menu,

for now you can use the w e find command and search for the dollar sign to go
to each auction then arrow back to the description and click on it to get to
each auction.
i have done this many times to by pass the greedy sellers that are charging
more then it would cost at a regular store.
like if you only want to pay about 20 dollars you can use a w e search like $2
and it will only stop at auctions that are charging $20 to $29

but it will also stop at shipping charges that start with $2.

RE: Keys Echoing Incorrectly

2018-05-11 Thread Ayers, David (ITCS) via Talk
I switch to echo words. When doing a Google search in IE, it didn't speak
anything after typing a word and pressing the space bar. Although, in MS Word,
it spoke everything. So, I switched back to echo characters, and all keys
echoed correctly. Then going to the desktop, the keys started echoing
different letters/numbers again. Key echo works fine then, for no apparent
reason, it starts this behavior.

I have un-installed and re-installed Window-Eyes and it still behaves this way.
NVDA does not have a problem. I have also tried another keyboard(not
wireless).

RE: auto-paragraphs

2018-05-11 Thread Van Lant, Robin via Talk
Do you think she wants you to indent all the lines in the paragraph? Unless you
are making a long, block quote, you wouldn't normally indent an entire
paragraph. Does she mean that she would rather have you add an empty line
between paragrahs and not just indent the first line of the paragraph? The
default formatting style in Office 2010 and probably later version of Word is
to automatically put a blank line between paragraphs when you hit enter to
start your new paragraph. I do like this for a couple reasons, Is I set my
default back to the Office 2003 style settings.

I'm just not clear what format your tutor is recommending and, therefore, how
to advise you.
