Re: Does Jaws have . . . .

2017-07-18 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
No, there is no such a feature for the notification area [alt-n].
Jaws speaks out when tekst is in this area, but will not generate a
sound as Window-Eyes does even when you are in an other program.

Rebecca,

Thanks for this info. Seems to me a sort of bug. But nice to know a workaround.
|I have mine set to show all folders, so there is no problem here.

And mostly I am using Xplorer2, a windows explorer replacement.

Re: AW: How to get file explorer back

2017-11-13 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Larry,

Can you press ctrl-shift-escape when this happend?

I don't know what windows you are using, but:
You have to kill the explorer process, but don't leave the taskmanager,
because you also have to start a new process by typing: explorer

I have made a autohotkey script for myself to do this. In win7 and with
Window-Eyes I had to use this frequently. Now I am with Jaws in win10
and I never have to do this.
If you want I can send you that script.

Re: AW: How to get file explorer back

2017-11-13 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Larry,

You can download Killexplorer from the below link.
When you extract the zip, you will find Kilexplorer with ctrl-alt-x.exe.
Start this program. When it is loaded in memory, you can press
ctrl-alt-x and explorer is killed.

If you want to load it each time your computer is started, you can
create a shortcut to it by using the context key.
Place the shortcut in the Startup folder. A simple way to go to the
startup folder is by pressing win-r and type the following:
shell:startup
Place the shortcut in this folder, not the exe file.

you can download it from:
http://www.p-u.demon.nl/killexplorer.zip

If your problem is still not solved, you can try the following:

Go to Tools, General.
Go to the tabcontrol Message view.
Press shift-tab until the option:

Re: top bottom index

2018-03-23 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Russ,

Jaws does have a sort of top-bottom alert function. Not as nice as in
Window-Eyes.
Press ins-v and type: top
arrow down, you land on:
top and bottom edge alert
here you ca choose for silent and alert with sound.
It will not work in the windows explorer pane, but in a real listview it
works, but a bit slower then the function in Window-Eyes.

Re: JAWS question

2018-05-22 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi Kevin,

Yes, that is possible.

The most effective way is to press win-r for run and type:
%appdata%
Here you find a folder freedom scientific
In this folder you will find settings about jaws.
In the folder there is a Jaws folder and there you will find a folder
with the version number. 2018 or 18, 17 etc. You can simply copy this
folder to the same location on the other computer.
I think it is better to use nvda when copying it on the new computer so
jaws will not lock files.

For as far as I know ther is no key to repead the last spoken progress

list all is spoken.

Press ins-space and then the h of history.
You can arrow through all what is spoken.

Re: Reading the Status Line in JAWS

2017-05-24 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

There is an sort of top / bottom index indication. I was searching for
the same and I found an option.
In the quick settings menu [ins-v] arrow down and press t until you have
the option:
top and bottom edge alert
with space bar you can toggle between sound and silence. Silence is the
default.

In the quick settings menu, you can also fill in the word: top
and press arrow down.

2015-08-06 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

Is it possible to set Window-Eyes so, that when pressing alt-tab,
nothing is spoken except the name of the application?
It says: running applications, but I don't want to hear that and it
makes it not really quicker.
And sometimes I hear: task switching
Can we mute these texts?

I know: with the exception dictionary or with the extended dictionary
this can be done, but is there a better solution?
I know: other screenreaders will do this too, so maybe it is something
in windows, but a feature request to hide that info.

slower in becky mail

2015-08-13 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

With WE9.2 I have seen slowness in becky mail. This is in win10 32bit and win7
32bit.

When the computer starts, I start Becky mail and go to the list of messages.
There is a small delay when pressing arrow down to go to the next message.
Restarting Becky mail does not matter.

When restarting WE by pressing ctrl-alt-w, the small delay is away and arrowing
in the listview is fast as allways.

Can anyone reproduce this?

Regards, Marten

Re: Anyone heard from AI Squared about their e-list problems and the detailed postings about potential causes and resolutions

2015-08-28 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
I hope, we don't get a discussion about mailinglists on the talk-list.
But freelist is not really a good idea. All the messages, the whole archive, is
also visible for google and other search engines.

And freelist can also unsubscribe people...

Last time, more and more lists are moved to groups.io. Groups.io is a more
accessible site to setup your list and to manage. Better than yahoogroups or
freelists. I have used them too as a list owner and groups.io is better.

Hi Don,

Indead: it seems that when running WE and Xplorer2 and closing Xplorer2,
the dialog is displayed and not when using Nvda for example.
I am using win10 32bit and WE9.2 at the moment, but have also seen this
in win7 and older versions of WE.

Alan,

It does not really help, but I have had the same problem in win10. Window-Eyes
was not reading the startmenu or the menu when pressing win-x I thought or was
it win-a?

I did a upgrade from win8 to win10.

My problem was solved after I placed a image of win8 back.
I upgraded again to win10, but I have choosen now to not take over my

Re: auto hot key scripts

2015-09-19 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Neville,

Yes, this is possible.

You can make the autohotkey script an app of window-eyes, so WE will load the
exe file or ahk file each time the program starts.

In the scriptfile you have to use something like:

winwaitactive, %win%, , 20
sleep, 600
winwaitclose, %win%
exitapp

Re: question about app get when I hit the g key on my keyboard

2015-12-04 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Keith,

Seems that g is sending win-g to the system so appget is is started.

You can eventually redifine the hotkey to shift-win-g or something else.
Go to the window-eyes menu, alt-a for apps-menu and go to appget.
Here the help-menu and hotkey.

Re: becky email

2015-12-10 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi Butch,

Becky shows a sort of a ruler and that is what you are hearing.
A few years ago I had contacted the maker of Becky about this. There is
not really a way to disable this ruler for as far as I know.

The best way is to press ctrl to stop the speech.
With the extended dictionary app you can suppress it a bit, but not all.

Apollo II and WE9.3

2015-12-19 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

I am using the apollo II synthesizer with Window-Eyes.
Since I have updated from WE9.2 to 9.3 my Apollo reacts slower to keys from the
keyboard.
I have tried to set different settings in devicemanager for the comport the
Apollo is connected, but no difference.
I have seen this behavior on win7 32bit and win10 32bit.
I am using an usb to serial cable with FTDI chipset.
An update of the FTDI driver did not help.
With other synthesizers as vocalyser or eloquence no problem. It is as fas as
normal.

It is now, if each key on the keyboard will have a delay as you can set
in the cursoring menu.

Hi,

I now have for the second time, that when starting Internet explorer,

Jaws or Nvda will work with internet without any problem.
This is in Internet explorer, Firefox and Chrome.
After a reboot the problem is solved, but it is frustrating.
Are there other people who recognize this?

Why will Window-Eyes crash, but Nvda not?

2016-02-25 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

Many times, when I go on my win7 32bit computer with IE11 to a site
[www.p-u.demon.nl in this case].
I tab to the link: brltty, press context key and arrow up to:
copy shortcut
Before I have reached this item, WE will crash. Will no longer talk.

This happens allmost every time.
Yes, I have Internet download manager installeed and this is a addon in
internet explorer, but this program is working well.

And when I use Nvda, there is no problem.

combobox you cannot choose something

2016-03-10 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

At work we will use an other program for call management called
Service now.
It is an webapplication and I thought to also try to look at the
community on internet if I can find more tips.
When registering and after the account is verified, you can login and
you have to fill in some things about who you are.
Here you have a combobox where you can press the first letter to select
something, but arrows will not work Alt-down/up will also not help. Is
this a new sort of control?
It is difficult, because the community is protected by an password, but
everyone can register.
Does anyone have any idea how to deal with this?
Window-Eyes says:

Industry, select, closed

I also have tried this with Nvda or Jaws, but no screenreader seems to
handle this with IE11 in win7.
I have also tried Chrome. No luck.
The site says that it has to work with firefox, but I could not find a
login-button with firefox.

Kind regards, Marten

Re: using Team Viewer with Window-Eyes

2016-04-02 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
I have had this addon working.
If you follow the example of using the remote plugin at nvdaremote.com. it will
work.

Re: Odd thing about creating folders in Windows 10

2016-06-02 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Chris,

Ctrl-shift-n is the field-name hotkey in Window-Eyes. If you press the
bypass hotkey ins-b before ctrl-shift-n, the ctrl-shift-n is directly
send to windows and you can create your new folder.
You can redefine or undefine this hotkey for explorer in the hotkey menu
if you want.

Re: F8 and BECKY!

2016-06-07 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Steve,

you can read html messages in browse mode if you like it.
Go to tools, general setup and the message view tabcontrol.
Shift tab here to:
html view
In your case it is set to:
convert to plain text
I have set it the same, but you can also set it to:
view with IE component

When opening a html mail, you can use the browse mode and when opening a
text based mail, it will not use browse mode.

I am using it the same way. When you get an html mail that is not really
good readable as text, I press tab to the attachment area and open the
html file there in internet explorer.
You have to turn on the attach html message option in the tools, general

text editors

2016-06-10 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

I am using Edit plus as texteditor, but not fully satisfied with how
Window-Eyes and the editor are working together on my system, so I want
to look at an other editor.
What is a good editor these days?

I have looked to Notepad plus plus, and Pspad. They look nice except
selected text.
Selected text is not spoken bij Window-Eyes. I mean by using
shift-arrows.
I have tried the set highlight color hotkey, but this will not help.
Any suggestions to get this working or for an good alternative?

Regards, Marten

wineyes keys not working on login screen

2016-07-30 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

I have set windows to ask for a password at logon. This is on my windows
home 32bit system and windows 7.
Since Window Eyes 9.51, I cannot longer press ctrl-shift-w to read the
text in the logon screen.
Ofcource: the text to ask for a password is still automaticly read by
Window Eyes, but ctrl-shift-w to repeat the text will not work. Also:
when turning numlock off, the mouse keys are also not working.
When I press num7, I get a message that the mouse is routed, but when
pressing the mouse-arrows, nothing happens.
Ctrl-shift-t is still working and ins-1, keydescriber, is also working
and tells that the mouse keys are still defined.

Is it just on my system that these keys are not working?

Re: A right pain

2016-08-12 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi Martin,

You can use shift-enter to open a link in a new Internet explorer session and
when you have red the information, you can press alt-f4 or ctrl-f4. With
shift-enter you open the link in a new session. When the original website
returns, you mostly are on the position you left this page.

The situation you are giving happens most of the time with Window-Eeyes. It is
a problem. WE has allways working this way.
Before you open the link, you can also select the line with f8 and when
returning, you can find the line with ctrl-shift-f.
II nolder releases there was a hotkey to return to a previous position with
ins-r, if I am right, but this key is removed with version 9.

g-data anti virus

2015-03-15 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

I have installed g-data anti virus. I have seen messages about the
accessibility about this program, but it is accessible, but not as good as I
want. Maybe there are things I can change to make it more accessible?

For example:
When it reports a virus, you get a dialogue with a message.
The only thing Window-Eyes will read, is a combobox with the actions, a
checkbox and ok button..
Ctrl-shift-w will not give more info.

When using Nvda, it will tell me what virus is found and a name of the virus. I
have to press ins-b to hear that info.
I cannot see that info with the nvda review cursor.

G-data is telling me, that the viruswarning will be written to the log, but
where can you find the log?

When in the g-data menu or the installation program and pressing ctrl-shift-w,
Window-Eyes will also read parts of the screen that are not in the g-data
window. From underlying windows.

Re: Seeking Your Input

2015-05-28 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Websupport is better then in the past, but not allways that stable.
More rock solit websupport.

When searching on google and you enter on a page, alt-left arrow will land on
the link you started on. This will sometimes happen, mostly not.

On some webpages you have an header that you can enter on. A text will come
below that heather. Id would be nice, when Window-Eyes can give an
announcement, that you can enter on that line.

There are also lines you can enter on and a text below that line will popup.
Nice when WE can announce that. Now you have to guess. For example a questions
and answer list on a page.

These things will come up.

WE-cursor is the invisible cursor.

editor like notepad plusplus or pspad

2015-06-08 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi

In the past I looked to the editor Pspad. Seems a nice editor, but Window-Eyes
will not speak if text is selected. Also with Window-Eyes 9.1 this information
is not spoken. Is this something that can be fixed?

Today I looked to Notepad plus plus.
When typing a line, with several words, each space between the words will
generate a beep. This is not happening in Nvda or Jaws.
And also in this program: selected text is not spoken.

But: in Jaws, selected text is also not spoken.

I am using Editplus mostly and in this program a space between words is
sometimes also generating a beep
If these things could be fixed
Sometimes I want to look at an other editor and Pspad or Notepad plusplus could
be something, but why that beep, why not selected text?

Regards, Marten

Try to kill the ienhance.exe process in taskmanager.
For me this will sometimes help.
You have to reload it after this or a restart of internet explorer is maybe

Hi,

I cannot change the slider for google search results with Window-Eyes 9.1 and

When going to options and search options, you can change the search results.
Default is 10, but I would like to have it set to 100.

With Window-Eyes I could not change it, but with Jaws it was no problem.

Re: Win 10 responsiveness

2015-07-30 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi Don,

You can look at Xplorer. A file explorer replacement.
I am using it all the time with WE9.2 and I like it more than the standard
explorer.
In win7 or 8 it is more responcive, so in win`0 too, I think.
You have to reclass the explorer window in this program to a listview, but
after this, it is accessible.
On the GWmicro site there must be a podcast. I thought that it was done by
Chris G. from AI squared.

You can download it from: www.zabkat.com
The program is not free, but there is a 14 day version orso.

AQnd there is a lite version that is free.

windows 10 problem with startmenu

2015-08-01 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Hi,

I just upgraded to windows 10 pro from windows 8pro.

Window-Eyes seems faster in win10 than in win8 on my system.
But when I open the startmenu, I cannot arrow.
When [pressing the startbutton, I hear:
search
and when pressing arrow up or down, it says "start"
or something that is selected in an other program.
Same when pressing win-q.

I have re-installed the WE9.2 upgrade, but no difference.

Does any body know what is happening here?

With Nvda I have no problems.

In Xplorer you have two windows with an folder window. You can switch

Re: Internet Browsers

2020-02-24 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
Martha,

I am also a becky user, but I am reading mail in plain text and if I
want to see the html text, I open the attachment.
If you want to try this:
Go with alt-t to tools,
Genreal and shift-tab to the tabcontrol.
Arrow right to Messageview and 10 times shift-tab to:
HTML view
set this with arrows to Convert to plain text.
When in a message, press tab to see the attachment.

Regards, Marten
