At last I have migrated to Jaws. I have to confess I'm not enjoying the
experience so far but realise I need to learn how to tweak some settings.

My first problem is that I don't like the speech! I strongly disliked the
default Eloquence and am using Peter at the moment but wondered which
voices
people are using and feel are clearest.

I think it is going to be a long time before I will be able to say I prefer
Jaws to Windoweyes.

I hadn't realised that insert c to reach the Outlook Calendar was a
Window-eyes key.

How do I access the Outlook calendar using Jaws please?

Hello Olusegun,

At no point in my statement did I attack freedom of expression, only if the
signature was appropriate for this list. I, too, fully believe that freedom
of expression is a human right which should not be denied to anyone.

In the UK it is apparent from our own news channels, the various US news
media that we have access to and Americans I know very well that there is
still a level of controversy about the current US head of state.

In light of that the signature I have questioned is an overtly political
statement which not all US citizens would agree with.
That was my sole reason for questioning the validity of the signature.

I suggest that the subject should be dropped from this list.

This happened to mine after the recent update.
It makes sense, of course, since I guess the icon got updated as well.
I'm just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Re: JAWS

2017-05-22 Thread David Pearson via Talk
I decided Jaws is so awkward to use compared to Window Eyes, I turned
Jaws off. No sense using it until I'm forced into it, because Window
Eyes will no longer do the job.

At 09:19 PM 5/20/2017, you wrote:

I agree, Window Eyes is much more logical than Jaws.

I say this some what Jokingly, So far, I find the Jaws Menus to be
planned out as well as the Guy who buys a Double Wide Trailer, and then
adds extra rooms to it, when he needs them. With the end result looking
a bit chaotic and goofy.

But, it does work, and I too am still learning its wide variety of
settings and controls.

I downloaded the Vocalizer voices, and I really like the Nathan and
Malcolm voices. These two are new for my ears.

Odd problem

2016-08-16 Thread david pearson via Talk
This only started happening after I installed Windows 10. When I shut
down the computer using the shut down menu. The next time I go to
turn it on the computer will lock up. Then I have to force a shut
down and turn it back on and it starts up just fine. So instead of
going to the start menu, if I just force a shut down it will start up
without locking up the next time I start it. Now I found that this
situation is related to Window Eyes. When I uninstall Window Eyes the
computer turns on and off just fine. To make sure Window Eyes is the
culprit, I uninstalled window Eyes and installed it twice with the
same results. If you're wondering how I turn the computer off without
Window Eyes, I have Kurzweil 1000 and that program has speech and the
ability to turn off the computer. So what do you folks think the
problem could be? Thanks,

Dave

how can I install window eyes

Is there a solution for this yet? I get this same message on windows
7 and windows 10.

If I choose either choice when it is asking about Braille support, I am

Thanks i'll try this.

At 01:52 PM 11/27/2015, you wrote:

i had no problem installing w e 9.2 on windows 10 with the zip file.
you do have to unzip the files first to a folder. or to a flash
drive and run the setup file from there. i did not have to burn it to a cd.
if you had a version of w e already installed when you upgraded
windows 10 this could be the problem.

if so try uninstalling it first from programs and features.
if this doesn't help look at the w e 9.2 files to see if it has the
emergency removal tool to uninstall all of the w e files from the
computer and registry.

then try re installing.

You should install it on a cd and not from a zipped drive.

should I remove window eyes?

2015-11-25 Thread David Pearson via Talk

dear list,

I thought I would be able to install windows 10 on my windows 7
machine with out a hitch. It seems I am wrong. Windows update won't
install windows 10 unless I uninstall window eyes. It says that the
window eyes 9.1 app has to be uninstalled and allowing that removes
window eyes completely. The only disc for window eyes I have is 9.0.
Will that disc put window eyes back on a windows 10 machine. I know
you folks have been changing over to windows 10. Is this something
you've been running into? Thanks for any help.

So if I have to close the program every time I start the computer, how do I

If I had to have one thing different, I really, really, really wish we could
go back to the old way of selecting text on a web page. All of the other
screenreaders do it the standard way with the control and shift and arrow
keys. I understand that the f8 selection method is more of like a sighted
person does it, but I've often found it to be clunky at best. Either that
or it's operator error, I'm not sure. So that's my idea. I don't know if
selecting text relies on the way WE reads a webpage, but it'd sure be nice
to do it the same way all the other major screenreaders do it.

It all has to do with using f8 before and after what you want. All I can say
about this, it doesn't work as well as it used to! Some times you will get
what you want and other times, you'll get web addresses. The whole thing is
very strange!
