Hi Lynn, I thought I had send those instructions to the list, but I can't find a copy, so here they are: * Open a Windows explorer window. * tab to the organize button. * press spacebar, which should bring up a context menu. * arrow down to the layout submenu and open it up with the right arrow. * arrow down until you find the preview pane and make sure it is not checked; if it is checked, press enter on it to remove the checkmark; otherwise press escape. Hi Sky, No, I am not seeing this with Word 2010. The only thing I can think of is to suggest that you be sure the document window is maximized. I use the Window Manager app, and set Word windows to always get maximized when they're opened. Also, is it possible the document you are working with has some blank lines in it? Have you tried more than one document? RE: Window-Eyes 9.2
Hi Tom, I am pretty sure the mouse pointer was sitting on top of text which the read tooltip feature of WE was causing it to read again and again. When this happens to me I just move the mouse pointer down to some empty corner of the window and it stops. I did try turning off the tooltip feature (thinking I didn't really need it), but you do; many programs use it to notify you of an update or something you need to do, so moving the mouse pointer once in a while is better. I just upgraded. I thought I was going to have to ask a question, because I couldn't get the setup to start. Then, it started several minutes later and went through the setup really quickly. I've just been using it for maybe a half hour, so I can't say anything about improvements, but I notice that instead of saying desktop, it says program manager. I've had that happen before, but I don't know what causes it and what causes it to go back to saying desktop. Hi Nick, I certainly find it worth while; 9.2 is quite a bit snappier and more stable. As for installing 9.1, it's no more difficult than it was to install it originally. Re: Window-Eyes 9.2 still crashing With Windows Explorer
ok, so it's not just me! Thank you! I don't suppose that actually helps, but yes, this is definitely happening to me too. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, if that helps. The frustrating part is it seems to happen for no rhyme or reason. I can't find a pattern for it so I can reliably tell people when the problem happens. It seems very random, which makes the problem that much harder to fix. If I do find a pattern for when it happens i'll gladly post a more definiative bug report with examples of when it happens, etc. On 7/28/2015 11:53 PM, Lynn White via Talk wrote: I have actually had two crashes in the last two days whenever windows explorer freezes and have had to reboot. Re: Window-Eyes 9.2 is Now Available!
Hi You don't need to go that route to upgrade, simply visit http://www.gwmicro.com/upgrade, enter your serial number and it'll generate an upgrade. I bet a lot of people are doing this now, so patience is a virtue. I tried upgrading directly from within window-eyes by going to the help menu, and then check for updates, and after a couple minutes I received an error message saying that the download wasn't successful and to try again in a few minutes. It's probably because everyone's hammering the servers to get the upgrade. I'll hang out for a few and try it again in a bit. Bob, Glad to hear you are enjoying the responsiveness. As for Edge, Microsoft just dropped the ball on this regarding accessibility. No screen reader supports Edge at this time. I have full confidence this will ultimately get resolved but until then, Internet Explorer or Firefox or Chrome can be used. RE: Window-eyes 9.2 is now available
Yes, Window-Eyes 9.2 is a recommended upgrade for all of our customers even if you aren't using Windows 10. The upgrade includes new features and improvements that are not specific to Windows 10. You can read about all of the changes in the Window-Eyes 9.2 Read Me: http://www.gwmicro.com/Window-Eyes/Version_History/index.php?details=9.2.0.0. As far as how easy it is to roll back to 9.1, it would require that you uninstall Window-Eyes completely and then reinstall 9.1. These steps are easy for some to perform but more difficult for others. Hi Reeva, This is an excellent question. In 2015, we will be releasing a product called ZoomText Fusion. This product will combine the power of ZoomText and Window-Eyes in a single product. ZoomText Fusion is specifically designed for people who have progressive eye conditions or are in transition from low vision to blindness. ZoomText Fusion includes all of the power of ZoomText Magnifier, ZoomText Magnifier/Reader, as well as complete and full screen reading into one, single, integrated product.
