I'm getting the following error when trying to view the 'My Watchlist' page in the wiki: Database error A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. Then Osmarender was introduced and the need to tag ways, and then someone added FIXME tags to old line segments. So just two weeks ago I edited these ways, combining them into larger units, adding the appropriate tags and removing the note=FIXME tags. When you open mymap.osm with JOSM, you will notice that all ways are 2 nodes (a single line segment) and they are not connected, but sprinkled out. If you download fresh data from OSM (without changing the zoom), you will notice that all FIXME tags are gone, and the ways are larger connected units. The last way in the list above, having id=8212526, still exists, but now is now a 4 node way (highway=motorway_link). It was tagged fixme in the planet.osm dump of 080227, but not in 080305 or 080312. At first I thought that 2-node ways that I had removed were lingering in osmxapi, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I guess the neighboring ways 8212523-8212525 were correctly removed. [OSM-talk] Extending OSM with data from geonames.org?
Hi everyone, I realize that we don't want wholesale copying of data from geonames.org because some of that data might be derived from google. How about selectively augmenting data that we already have in OSM with additional information from (and links to) geonames? Specifically, I'd like to fetch place nodes that already exist in OSM and try to match them with places in the geonames database. If I find a match, I'd like to add tags containing the geonames ID and alternate place names. Is this still covered by our licence model? The right way is a relative concept. Zoom out a bit and you'll see that due to an error in the south american coastline a large chunk of the atlantic ocean in considered land. Relative to the *that* the island is indeed wrong, but relative to the real world it is currently correct. i.e. fix the south american coastline and it will solve itself. Surely this is just a z-ordering issue in the renderer? You've decided that woods should render above university areas and parks, which seems sensible to me, so put this rule in the renderer where it belongs. Both of these features cover this area, and one is not on-top of the other, so there shouldn't be any layer tags at all. Cheers, Maybe such non-physical things shouldn't be rendered with a full polygon fill, but with some half-transparent hatches instead. Or just by rendering their borders with some custom style. And if you want to render universities as physical entities, buildings should do the trick. [OSM-talk] Osmarender an area over time
Hello. Huge apologies if this is explained somewhere, but how do the 'time-lapse' images of areas get rendered that appear in places like the Wiki featured image ? I'm a bit new, but have succesfully rendered a few areas, and would love to show how some of Northumberland is growing. I could try to remember to download data files every couple of days and then render them, but maybe the api can deliver the equivalent of a 'diff' ? [OSM-talk] ski pistes
Hi AFAIK, the ski pistes proposal (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/WikiProject_Piste_Maps ) hasn't yet fully been accepted, and since I have lots of traces for 3 ski resorts (lifts are already in the OSM database), I am wondering what should I do. I see people are using the tags in the proposal to have the maps rendered in OpenPisteMap.org, but since, again AFAIK, the proposal is not accepted yet, should I use instead the route=ski key instead of using the not-yet accepted proposal? Also, where does openpistemap get the level curves from? [OSM-talk] Archicad to OSM (again!)
When I first asked this question a week back, I got some advice about using GRASS to convert .dwg/.dxf files to shape files, but in the end, I ran into problem after problem and nothing seemed to work. Also, from my reading, shape files aren't a lot of use for importing to OSM anyway (http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk/2008-March/023968.html ). *gives up in despair!* I'll ask again, in the hope of finding some more detailed instructions (something a complete idjut like me can understand!) or even someone prepared to convert the file for me to something OSM friendly like gpx or osm-xml. cheers! Ob irgendwas ein Loch im Polygon ist, entscheidet sich an der Rolle inner und nicht daran, ob es mit oder gegen den Uhrzeigersinn gemalt ist. Maintenant il nous reste à connecter tout ce bazar au limites nationales et au littoral, de supprimer les doublons (région parisienne) et de le rendre plus précis (quand la limite est un cours d'eau le tracé ne passe pas forcement au milieu du cours d'eau). Effectivement, les lignes de cars départementaux auraient toute leur place dans une carte comme celle ci. Le site internet de la SNCF ne propose qu'un ou deux changements maximums (je ne sais plus exactement) et parfois, pour aller dans certains endroits, il est nécessaire d'avoir une vision d'ensemble pour se dire peut être que je pourrais passer par là et de vérifier par la suite, les horaires des différentes lignes du chemin imaginer. L'information des horaires seraient nécessaires pour faire des calculs de chemin, mais la carte serait déjà très utile, même sans calcul de chemin.
