2004-03-12 Thread Marck D Pearlstone
Dear David,

@12-Mar-2004, 08:40 David Elliott [DE] in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] said to All:

DE Just had to go back to 2.04.7 from 2.05 beta/1 To much has
DE changed and I am finding the different behaviors a right pain

DE 1) Try the link mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] It use to
DE go straight to the message.

I'm finding that it depends upon context. When in the ticker virtual
folder, TB searches for the message *in the folder belonging to the
previous message in the message list*, fails and brings up the check
box folder selection window. Is that the bug you're seeing? If so,
it's quantifiable and reportable.

DE 2) When you get there using the tabs at the bottom of the
DE message gives you Access violations.

I'm not seeing these.

DE Other things that have changed but I don't know when (and I hate
DE them).

DE 3) Replying to html emails now does not keep the original format.

What I don't like about HTML message replying is the way BR is not
converted to space and words at end/start of line are run together.

Retaining original format should maybe be a part and parcel of the
OE style reply in same format as sender type of option.

DE 4) Some reply's to html emails give a in a blank line

I hadn't noticed that.

DE 5) Then if you have in between paragraphs and then reflow the
DE text (alt+L) the paragraphs get merged.

Yuck!

DE 6) Opening an encripted PGP mail with PGP 6.5.8ckt build 08 put
DE you into a loop that keeps asking you for your password.

I can't confirm this using GnuPG, but while looking for a message to
devrypt, a whole bunch of PGP/MIME encrypted messages are now not
showing any content at all. The decrypt icon is gone!

In this case it is. Other programs let you only choose from a fixed
set of From addresses, each belonging to one account. Therefore a
change of From address inherits the change of active account used for
this message.
The Bat! let you use (nearly) arbitrary From addresses. The fact you
choose the one from a different account means nothing to The Bat!,
could have been any address (IIRC From keeps it's own history, so once
you type in a From address it will be remembered and in drop down).
Therefore there is no relation From address = account, but happily
the vice versa way works: if you select a different Active account
the From changes accordingly (and still can be changed if required).

All in all this is a good thing, I think. To be honest: most people
trying to change account via choosing different From address don't
really care if the message is sent using SMTP server A or B. As long
as From is correct it doesn't matter. So those who care about which
SMTP is used earlier or later learn how to change an active account
(and the corresponding e-mail address) correctly :-)

Some bugs for confirmation and an urgent wish

2004-03-12 Thread Marck D Pearlstone
Hi TB Beta list members,

Seeking confirmation on some bugs -

1) Mid references when clicked in the ticker browser are looking for
the message in the folder of the previously selected message in the
message list instead of the current message.

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0002665

2) BR tags in HTML message text are being eliminated from quoted
text in such a way as to run words together in a reply. A space
should be inserted.

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0002664

3) One I haven't reported yet because it seems so unreal that it
could be to do with a bad migrate from my other machine. But I don't
think so. PGP/MIME encrypted messages are showing up empty. The
source view shows the whole thing still there, but there's no icon
for decrypt or anything. Standard PGP encrypted messages are okay.
Anyone else seeing this?

4) The wish:

Further to concerns about Gmane's archives, there is a concern that
one day spam harvesters may be bold enough to write a script to
decrypt subscriber addresses by decoding the user name from the
email address section and the domain name from the message ID. I
have put a wish onto the BugTraq asking for a greater sophistication
in TB's Message ID generator:

https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/bug_view_advanced_page.php?bug_id=0002663

Please support this request!

FR: Mass edit of Display name as in address book.

2004-03-12 Thread Richard Anders
Hello,

It would be greate if you could change the display name as for
several entrys or even the whole address book by one click. There are
several options to implement this:

1. Add a option, that allows, to change the display name as for the
complete address book in address book properties. (Maybe also a
option (with higher priority) for the group properties.)

2. Make the display name as in the Mass edit of address properties
window editable. (You go to the Mass edit of address properties
window if you've selected several addresses and click to Edit -
Properties...).

Would be great, if you say here or in the BT, what you think about it:

1) Check the online archives (or Gmane news feed) to see if it's

2) Check your member settings on the list web interface (you should
