Re: Missing feature in NFS
On Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 18:28 (which was Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 17:28 where I am) 9Val wrote: MS I still dearly miss the option to be able to (ctrl+)drag-n-drop my MS filters to copy/move them. Can we please get this back? It is still there but needs Alt pressed to start drag (like d'n'd of folders in main window) OK, Alt+Drag works for moving them, but Ctrl+Alt+Drag now makes the dragged filter a subfilter of the one I drop it on. What I really need is an 'in-place' copy, i.e. copy the filter _without_ having it end up at the bottom of the list. The list for this particular account has hundreds of filters that are sorted alphabetically which differ only slightly (the filters sort virus-alerts into per-virustype folders) and having to drag them back into place is extremely unwanted. The previous behaviour of being able to ctrl-drag a filter to copy it to the location it was dropped was much easier. Furthermore, while working on this I noticed something else: because I don't normally drag something into place if the destination isn't visible, I used Ctrl+Up to move the filter into place. If you keep these keys depressed in a sufficiently long list of filters, I noticed that TB! spends so much time re-painting the criteria-frame, that before it gets a chance to update the tree of filters, another move is noticed. This leads to the situation that the tree of filters looks like an empty control with TB! frantically trying to keep the filter criteria displayed, causing one to no longer be able to know where you are in the list, and thus when to release the Up-key. It would be more logical if while the Ctrl+Up is kept depressed, TB! would update only the tree of filters and leave the criteria frame alone. Moreover, since I'm only _moving_ the filter and not changing anything in it, there is no point in repainting that frame anyway. -- Greetings, Maurice Using The Bat! v3.0.0.11 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Current beta is 3.00.11 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Re: TB to run off a USB flash drive
Hello Bernd The question is, why does TheBat still use registry-settings? Without this and using relative pathes in every part of the program it would be no problem... Obviously I agree with this - and it would make backup / restore far simpler too, However, it seems that unless someone logs something in BugTracker, these suggestions could get lost. Re: S/MIME check mark still there in AB after deleting certificates
Hi Alexander! I don't understand. I was talking about one single person in the address book, let's call the person Alexander Leschinsky. This person/entry has a S/MIME certificate under Certificates. The check mark for Cert in the address book overview is active for this entry. Now I delete all certificates out of this entry, the person Alexander Leschinsky has no certificates anymore. But the check mark is still set in the overview. Ups... I think about different matter - totally different. For your case restart of The Bat! can help - AB's stored in memory and The Bat overwrite (if needed) files only on exit Ah you thought about something different. No Problem. I tried the restart right after deleting the certificate out of the entry. Did not work, it's still there after days and several restarts and upgrades of TheBat. NFS: folder creation option, please get it back
Listmembers: While the NFS now has an option to have the destination folder created when necessary on the dialog for specifying it, the option to actually create the new folder then and there has disappeared. I use this quite often and have always found it an advantage of TB! over other MUA's that I didn't have to think about creating the folder before starting on the filter. While I don't doubt the usefulness of the option to have the folder auto-created, I like being able to create the folder and specify it's properties while creating a filter. Some questions and feature request.
Hello, I have just upgraded to version 3.0 and would like to ask a few questions: 1)I have read on the mailing list that version 3.0 pro will have all the features of securebat. I have browsed through the menus but could not find any option to enable encryption. I also took a look to the help file but just realized that the help file has not been upgraded (when you load the help file you find written What's new in version 2). Does this mean that you cannot *yet* use such features that will be added in the future? If the feature is already available can you please help me find which option I have to check? 2)I have approx 20 accounts on the bat. When an account is created the program adds under the get new mail icon the name of the account. The accounts are sorted exactly in the order they were created. However if you lately move the accounts using alt+left mouse button in the account pane the list under the get new mail icon does not change accordingly. Any way to change also that list? BTW it would be useful to have the possibility to create account groups. For example I check every day certain account and only every week certain other accounts. Right now I have checked the option ignore check all account requests for the accounts I check weekly. Once a week I have to select them singularly to check if new mail is available. If I could create a group weekly accounts the entire proces would be easier. 3)When I was still using version 2.0 I installed bayesit antispam plugin (version 04gm). Later on I upgraded bayesit plugin by downloading the zip file of version 061 and by overwriting the files in the directory under the bat. As I read in this mailing list one of the new features of version 3.0 is an upgraded antispam plugin (am I right?). However if I look in options -- plugins I only find bayesit plugin and the version is still 04gm. Is this normal? Another question is: If I want to backup the learning ability of the filter which files do I have to save? and how do I have to proceed to restore such files? Thank you in advance for your replies. A story about duplicated messages living on the server
Hello all! Could anybody make the test of the server/TB combination? First, create message to yourself and put your address also in Bcc field. Then send it to your POP3 server, set The Bat! to leave messages on it and try to receive mail periodically, simultaneously observing what happens. During first connection to my server The Bat! received two messages addressed to me. Both were identical (including Message-Id) because of Bcc field contents. Every next connection gave me one new message identical with originally received ones. There were two identical messages on the server and The Bat! continuously received one of them, even showing it as new in Mail Dispatcher window. There were several similar tests made, using Outlook Express, Mozilla Messenger and Sylpheed (on Linux box). All these mail clients received two original messages and then no more. The problem is probably caused by wrong interpretation of UIDL command results by The Bat!. Some servers create different UIDL-s for two identical messages, but there are servers which create identical UIDL-s in such cases. An example of POP session log is attached. I sent two test messages to myself with my address in Bcc and The Bat! found new ones each time. Sometimes this may be very frustrating if an user has Inbox overloaded with identical messages. Of course, I know that sending Bcc to myself seems stupid, but this happened not only to me in real mailing. -- Best regards, Zygmunt Wereszczynski (Using The Bat! v3.0.0.14 on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 4 with BayesIt! 0.6.21)[23:01:16] C: Connected to server.domain.pl, port 110 [23:01:16] S: +OK Cubic Circle's v1.31 1998/05/13 POP3 ready server_identifier [23:01:16] C: USER temp [23:01:16] S: +OK temp selected [23:01:16] C: PASS * [23:01:16] S: +OK Congratulations!
