Fatal AV 3.5 RC/1 and others
Hi TB Beta list members, UI: Ticker VF. Fatal. The attached (cascading) AV was caused by marking a message in the ticker as Junk using a defined shortcut key to perform the operation. Perhaps connected ... in the previous beta, I had seen the marking of junk cause the ticker to close. It was as though the list manager thought the list was now empty and the folder should be closed, although there were dozens of messages in the ticker list. UI: Ticker VF. Behaviour Another, less serious error is this. When I reply to a message on the ticker, the reply is sent, filtered to the real folder the original message came from but appears in the ticker VF threaded to the original. Very odd. UI: Scroll bars. Annoying All scroll bars everywhere are using incorrectly calculated range values. As a result, they allow window content to scroll further than they should (reported as Space at end of list etc.). This also means that scroll bars appear when there is no need for them to be there. Customisation: Serious omission. The Enter key is not allowed in the shortcut definition entry point. This should not be the case. This is especially true where Ctrl+Enter has behaviours that should be definable. -- Cheers -- //.arck D Pearlstone -- List moderator and fellow end user TB! v3.5 Return RC1 on Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 'attachment: AV.jpg pgp8xmCHVNO81.pgp Description: PGP signature Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Hello graham, Easy to test, fire up Task manager and look at the memory allocation. At first it seems to happen as you say, not exactly 40K but memory usage keeps increasing. Now, if instead of connecting when I am viewing some folder I select an account on the folder tree (so that nothing is viewed on the message list or message pane) I can send/receive any number of times with no change at all in memory usage. I have also noticed that just changing the message I am viewing (selecting a different one on the message list) does increase memory usage many times. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: The Bat! 3.5 Return RC1 is now available
Hi all and especially 9Val, 9 The Bat! 3.5 Return RC1 is now available from: 9 http://www.ritlabs.com/en/tbbeta/ I've been browsing on the list for quite a while now but so far refrained from trying a beta myself because after each release there seemed to be quite some unresolved bugs. Since the newest version is called RC I decided to give it a shot. Gentlemen, no offense, but - it took you twenty betas to come up with _this_?? In the not even ten minutes I testet I got AVs (in the exact same place as with the last release version!), the UI showed bugs (slight, non critical ones to be fair) and, worst of all, the IMAP has not improved one single scratch! I set IMAP to five connections and requestet new mail. Four of the five connections were gone in the blink of an eye, the last one (sync inbox, the only one that really had work to do) hung as usual. On watching the line I could witness that as with the previous release version not one single byte was transfered, TheBat was just sitting there doing nothing - again, as usual. I've heard over and over that the problem with IMAP would not be one of TheBat but with my provider, GMX. This is a lousy excuse for not being able to hack it. (Sorry, but that is the precise description for the situation.) Any other IMAP-client I tried (Thunderbird, Opera, Mulberry) has absolutely no problem with GMX. Either fix the IMAP or admit failure and remove it. What I've seen today is no RC, it does hardly warrant a 0.0.0.1 version number increase! I'm now revisited by the problem of auto-filtering working only sporadically. I no longer experience reasonably smooth IMAP operations, with their being frequent unexpected delays with messages being loaded and at times, requiring reloading for me to see a message body. The same happens for folders on initially opening them. Quite often, nothing happens, with my having to select another folder then returning to the one I originally wanted to browse before it finally loads as it should. Re: The Bat! v3.5 RC1 Shutdown problems
Hi Peter Ouwehand, Saturday, April 30, 2005 you let us know -at least in parts- : Are you using any anti-spam plugin? Mine is known to need some time to update files when TB is told to shutdown. No, I don't. Do you use settings like compress all folders on exit? Can be time consuming. Some folders are set to compress on exit, but here it is done in a few seconds ( 5 sec) To my knowledge (...) when commanding Windows to shutdown, it allows apps something like 30 seconds to close down by themselves. If not successful, Windows starts complaining. Right, but this deadline can be varied. I never changed it although a hanging app from time to time nags me. Here -and maybe Mike sees the same- I can reproduce the effect that Windows does not shut down when TB is running. It seems to have done a new start (without having seen a BIOS screen or the loading procedure itself) I think that this description matches best: it looks like I logged off and now Windows is presenting the welcome screen in expectation of another user to log in. If I go to shutdown Windows while The Bat! is running, Windows will not shutdown until I manually terminate The Bat!. Now, with RC1 I see this: Closing a Windows with TB active will solely terminate TB. The internet connection is still on while TB compresses the folders and exits just fine. But is seems that my command to shut down would simply be ignored, I can wait as long as I want. My machine will not stop running. -- kind regards Charlene Ferrara mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.5 Return RC1 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Skype: charleneferrara Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Re: The Bat! v3.5 RC1 Shutdown problems
Hi Neal, Saturday, April 30, 2005 you let us know -at least in parts- : Wondering if this could possibly be related to the AV plug-in problem metioned recently? Both Mike and I have no plugins, for myself i can state that I am running TB in pure mode, no macros, no toys for boys. It is more probable that the socket code is the culprit, remember what Dimitry pointed out by saying Yes, this has been a bug since 1.0, I think. I noticed that in 1x too but never wasted a thought on it. I would appreciate a statement on this by one of the developers: * why does Windows ignore shutdown command when TB is running? * what use is a dialog box (that pops up when you try to terminate TB with active CC) when 66 percent of the offered options show no result? -- kind regards Charlene Ferrara mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.5 Return RC1 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Skype: charleneferrara Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
Copy function
When I highlight a message and go to Copy the dialog box offers Select All and Unselect All, but nothing happens. Is this an early, but as yet none functioning part of being able to select multiple folders for copying a message to? Re: RC1: Error on exit
Hello Charlene, So please look for except.log :-) I haven't noticed that the attached screenshot has been created by the OS and not by TB. I have been taken in by the way TB presented the png: a new frame with a nice bat logo in the upper left corner framed me, too. Sorry, MAU. NO problem dear :) Anyway, as I have insisted to Dimitry, no error log is generated anywhere. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: RC1: Error on exit
Hello Dimitry, The 2nd problem is that no error log is generated anywhere :) Hm, if you get the an error log is being generated stuff,... Did you read what I wrote? It says no error log is generated anywhere and that is exactly what it means, no error log is generated anywhere. -- Best regards, Miguel A. I no longer experience reasonably smooth IMAP operations, with their being frequent unexpected delays with messages being loaded and at times, requiring reloading for me to see a message body. The same happens for folders on initially opening them. Quite often, nothing happens, with my having to select another folder then returning to the one I originally wanted to browse before it finally loads as it should. snip I totally agree. I have the same problems you mention under the exact seem circumstances. 3.5 rC1 personal icons
Hello, i prefer my own icons which have been fine up until installing this and, like The Bat! icons, they have reduced to miniscule size. I've tried deleting tbuser.def and batskin.xml but all to no avail. I can only get larger icons if I revert to those provided and I'd really like to be able to use my own set. -- Regards, Richard | The Bat! 3.5 Return RC1 SpamPal | Windows XP (build 2600), version 5. 1 Service Pack 2 | F-Prot AV, Kerio 4.20.B5 and no Plug-ins http://perso.wanadoo.fr/lazyhomes/holiday.html Current beta is 3.5 Return RC/1 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
