You're right of course, but you wouldn't like the time needed to
delete a single message, because TB would need to write the whole
folder to disk again and especially for the bigger folders that can
take some time.

That's the other problem - the way TB caches messages on disk. You
don't need to write all folder if message is deleted, or folder is
marked as read. Outlook and Thunderbird implemented it right.

1) You delete a message, a command to IMAP server is sent to mark it as
deleted.
2) If you have choosen to use Trash, Purge command is sent to IMAP server.
3) If Purge and Delete commands where succesfull, a message is marked
as deleted in local cache.
4) Local cache is cleared during exit, or during folder change, or on demand.

I can be done.

V --

Your cutsign isn't working as designed, because it's lacking the
trailing space. It should read dash, dash, space, enter.

Strange. It works here with Outlook Express, MS Outlook, IMP webmail
and Thunderbird. Must be The Bat's or your mail server fault.

Re[2]: IMAP Connect To windows with cable connection

2005-11-03 Thread Vili
Hello Greg,

 The problem ONLY OCCURS after:
 1 I start TB, AND
2 select my IMAP account, FastMail, in the folder tree.
After that I get a 'Connect to EarthLink' window asking me for my
 password.
I think I've got the solution. In the account properties (Shft+Ctrl+P)
for the IMAP account, FastMail, under 'Network' I need to change the
'Connect to the Internet using' to 'Local area network or manual
connection' rather than 'Dial-up networking connection'.

I wanted to ask you this, but I told you about my customer, and it
was not faulty at him...

Also: you have to UNCHECK the specific settings in that window, so DO
NOT SET LAN, dont set anything there.

Don't ask me how it got changed. It must have occurred on the clean
install because I've had this account for a few years and have not
experienced this problem in the past.

Dont know...

Obviously it is just the opposite, since the one you typed manually
worked but your mailer is unable to produce one.

the delimiter is dash, dash, space, enter, and nothing more.

So, something in the handling of tbuser.def in the later post

I opened my message in server console and viewed it with HEX viewer.
It's definetely bug in TB's message parse engine. Unless you know any

Date problem MyGate(?)

2005-11-03 Thread Peter Fjelsten
Hello beta testers.

Something is very strange in the way MyGate have been running here for
some months. For some newsgroups, I get the same messages over and over
again so I end up with many duplicates. The strange thing is that this
happens only sometimes. I have uninstalled all virus checking and set
MyGate/TB to delete messages after fetching them. I have also delted
the whole installation and tried again. The problem reappeared.

MyGate is not really a very stable solution. I wish someone would be
interested in trying to make a better solution for TB and newsgroups.

I do not know if it's related to this issue, but get a load of this:

Double double-click is still here:

[*] Double clicks on the message header control now open links and add
addresses to the Address Book, as in versions prior to 3.5

In this release you have to double-click twice to get the effect. As
far as I understand, it happens because first double-click places the
cursor to the header and only the second one is caught for the
link/address action.

Hello Vilius,

It is definetely TB's fault. The way it handles dash, dash, space,
enter, space, space, sometext in flowed encoding.

From what I see, there is no space after dashes - I intercepted the very moment
the text was just loaded from your message and was not processed by any
converter. Additionally, here is a part of your message's source:

===8==cut=here===

  Pagarbiai,

  Vilius =C5=A0umskas
===8==cut=here===

If there was a space after dashes, it would be encoded as =20, but there is
nothing there.

BTW, format=flowed is not encoding. It's just a clue to a message parser about
how the text laid out. It's a broken way, IMO - specifically, it's no good for
use in mailing lists since it does not know about quotation prefixes. It also
does not allow to set maximum text line width. So, basically, it's useless.

3.62.11: Filter Problem

2005-11-03 Thread Bill McCarthy
Hello TB Beta List,

I have a filter that is triggered by empty subject - it does
nothing but does not continue processing (leaving the mail
in the inbox).

The filter is:

Header field Subject match ^\s*$

I have two emails in my inbox that triggered this filter (I
checked these emails with Test Filter). The both have
subjects!

One of their subject lines is:

Subject: =?UTF-8?B?S2V5d29yZCBOZXdzOiBbYWN0dWFyeV0=?=

This looks a bit strange, but it is not empty. How is it
matching ^\s*$ ?

This can be easily reproduced.
