Open parenthesis in subject hangs TB! IMAP download
Hello tbbeta, If an income message has an open parenthesis in the subject, TB! hangs on downloading it. Outlooks downloads it correctly. Looking at the IMAP log it would appear the the server does not deliver the message to TB! However, as I said Outlook downloads it correctly so I don't believe that it's the server at fault. I now think that TB! only records logging info after the message has been partly processed by TB! and is not the raw socket data... This has been plaguing me for months and months and I can now recreate it at will by sending myself a message with an open parenthesis in the subject. I'll forward a copy of this message to RitLabs with an open paren. -- Best regards, Tony mailto:t...@parkinch.co.uk The Bat! 5.3.8 with IMAP on Windows XP 5.1.Service Pack 3 Build: 2600 Current beta is 5.3.8.4 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Error message when sending a mail: Message from XXXX, subject Re: YYYYY, is not properly addressed
Hello Roelof, What version of TB are you using? What plug-ins? Are you using the same template for all of your accounts? Does the problem occur when you're replying to a single person too? I use the newest TB Beta, but it also affects the latest V5 MSI (and I actually later found forum messages as old as 2005, with no useful answer). I use Antispam Sniper, but also tried to deactivate it - no change. What do you mean by template? Mail template? I use none. The problem occurs in ANY mail, even the simplest, I try to send since today. I have developed a hypothesis: - today, I tried to download mails from a quite flawed POP3 server. - after that I get this error, no matter what I uninstall, reinstall or delete, the one thing that remains constant is the message base - is there a chance that te flawed server sent *something* (like a syntactically completely wicked sender, recipient address etc) and this address got recorded in some of TBs central account files so that any attempt to use this file ends with an error, ultimately leading to this message? Something like the address book or address history comes to my mind. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any file that had been changed today and seemed to contain addresses. RITLabs - could you maybe please shed some light on when TheBat! displays such a message i the first row? What is it checking? Is the check based on any msgbase files that get modified by downloaded messages? -- Thank you, best regards, Viktor Current beta is 5.0.22.12 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: [Wish] Automatic (was: ...), if subject line of reply is edited.
[Reply to: »Volker Ahrendt« · 2008-02-05 · 23:47 h (CET)] Moin, folks! Could there be a implementation, which does this like here: Re: BETA (was: Re: 4.0.0.19) That's WRONG! If it would ever be implemented, it should be Re: BETA (was: 4.0.0.19) Good idea! - My favorite news client (40tude Dialog) does so, too: If you edit the subject line of a reply the client sets the original subject in brackets like above. I found a (quite good) solution for this problem: a) Semiautomatic - Create a Quicktemplate and (out of convenience) assign a shortcut: %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj - Reply to a message and edit the Subject line - Hit Shortcut - Be happy! :-) b) Automatic - Include the macros in your reply template: %If:%Subj%OSubj:%Subject='Re: %Subj (was: %OSubj)':%Subj - Reply to a message and edit the Subject line - Be happy! :-) Pro solution a): You can run the QT at any time even if the textbody of the new message is already modified. Pro solution b): The macros run really automatically! :-) But there are two limitations: 1. The template must not contain the macro: %ModifyOnce(Subject) 2. The textbody must *not* be modified *before* you change the subject line. Maybe some of you like this solution, too. ;-) Cheers!
