Hello Goncalo, The one and only time I had this problem was due to corruption of the mail base. Have you tried Folder/Maintenance Center ? If a folder is disappeared all of the sudden and found again by the key combination do purge and compress for this folder. Then after that try to browse deleted messages of this folder. Since you did a purge compress there should be none. If there are there is definitely a folder corruption. -- George M. Hi Goncalo, Did you figure out the steps to reproduce that? It seems to be affecting you more than anybody else - personally, I never had that problem. I have seen this... at least once... but no more than twice in 8 years... and I haven't seen it in this Beta cycle and I have over a thousand folders... You're definitely not alone in this problem, but there are lots of users who don't experience it. That's what making it difficult to solve. In the seven years that I'm using TB, it has never happened to me. In the two months you've been using TB, you've reported it twice. Apparently we're using TB in a different way. I've 100-150 folders Some are using as archive, some are used as container for subfolders Most of them get their messages automatically, some their contents manually. Some have identities or folder templates set, some have not. All folders are created manually, none by filters. I don't use common or virtual folders. All folders are set to compress on exit, some have purge settings too. -- Groetjes, Roelof As I feared, you have no sense of humor. http://www.voormijalleen.nl/ The Bat! 3.99.24 Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 2 pop3 accounts OTFE enabled P4 3GHz 2 GB RAM pgpsLPsz2vLlH.pgp Description: PGP signature Current beta is 3.99.24 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Goncalo Do you read the Ritlabs forums? There are several people with similar issues including all mail/folders disappearing. I won't say it is common but it seems to happen more with new users - just my observation and not scientific :) Roelof helps a lot of them and can tell you that it is not a HUGE problem but occurrences are not sparse. A fast guess is that every 2 weeks or so someone posts that problem. Even if that proved to be once a month, that is too common for comfort. I have had the problem once and do not know what triggered it. -- Rick The Bat Version 3.99.24 on Windows XP, Service Pack 2 Current beta is 3.99.24 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

I have never heard of someone _really_ losing emails that way. I may be mistaken but I think it has to do with changing versions (betas). Alas, I am one of the few where the ctrl+alt+shift+L trick has never worked, I suppose (but have no proof) that has to do with my particular setup (OS on F-drive, TB! on D-drive,... (also I do not think it has anything to do with my Azerty keyboard)). When (not that often) I have disappearing folders, I have to add a new folder, use the exact name of the disappeared folder. TB! then says it already exists and asks if I want to use the initial folder and the problem is solved. At first I thought that I had simply forgotten to export (from Thunderbird) those folders. So, I manually created one of them so that I could use the tools import. Thats why I got the error that the folder already existed - though I couldn't see it. I didn't get _any_ option to use the initial folder though. Issue with mailbox
While I was searching for a message, I noticed that one of my mailboxes was missing. So I tried re-create it so that I could re-export the original folder from TB. Thats when TB! informed me that a folder of the same name existed. I looked through my entire folder tree for the a/c and didn't see it. So I went to Explorer, looked in the account folder tree and saw that it was there and contained two files: MESSAGES.TBB MESSAGES.TBI In order to bring it back, I had to close TB!, rename the original folder, create one of the same name, moved those two files from the backup folder to the new folder and restarted TB!.
