Hello Alexander, I am thinking to change to an other client... It will be strange: Hungarian distributor of TB! uses other than TB!... But I cant just wait seconds for TB! just to close a window :((( As I already wrote - what about the graphics chipset drivers? Sorry, that I did not answer that. So: I updated them to the newest one. No luck. I updated to SP2. No luck. But this is what I observe: 1. No open mail in full window: Using Alt+Tab and switching to other software and back to TB! main window displays TB! mail window immediately 2. Open mail in full window: Using Alt+Tab and switching to other software and back to TB! main window displays TB! mail window WITH DELAY So, I think it is TB! problem, not graphics card problem... This is my educated guess: that component that displays the mails is not updated on my system... Until v3.0.1.33 my TB! was lighning fast, I did not see this behaviour... -- Vili The Bat 3.62.14 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Szervizcsomag 2 Current beta is 3.62.14 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Hello Alexander, As I already wrote - what about the graphics chipset drivers? One more thought: when I select a folder, I have to wait ca. 1 sec to see the emails... Imagine this: you use the down arrow to reach a folder... It takes many seconds sometimes. I am not get used to it.

Re[2]: Slow redraw of main screen, try to find the cause
Hello Alexander, My laptop drive is 4200 rpm... Maybe this is the problem? This will certainly have an effect. But it may be a lot of other things, not only TBs code (I reckon it IS a TB issue now that I've tried 3.0.2.10). For example, how big are the mail folders, when was your last purgecompress, etc. - I for one find my TB getting slower when I did not compress the msgbases for a while... First, I uploaded a movie: www.macasoft.hu/slow.mpg The other program was a file manager on the movie. Answers: - mail foilders are small. If I change between two mail folders that has 2-2 mails, same effect... - last compress: I did one a minute ago (I usually do this weekly), same effect...

That also doesn't appear to help the situation. However, here is something that is interesting. Open Preferences. Uncheck High Color Images Restart the program. I see not difference in the graphics when using the current released version. However, if I use 3.02.10, when I uncheck the feature, the graphics are different. Again, I really believe the underlying code is having a direct impact on the speed and performance of the program. I just wish I could provide additional information. Re[2]: Slow redraw of main screen, try to find the cause
Hello Alexander, Just to be sure: what is your graphics card type. Mine is some Sis (650-740) As we're slowly gathering more information :-) ... 4200rpm harddisk, so its a laptop computer you're using... and that SIS gfx thingie, does it have its own gfx memory or is it shared memory? It may be another reason why it is so extreme on your 'puter. Shared. But again: it was MUCH faster with v1, v2, v3.0... Also: some subversions ago it was fast when I started TB! and became slow after a while. Now it is slow after start, immediately. That is why I am saying, it is not my PC issue. I mean, it is not HW issue. Maybe I have some old oleaut.dll or other system dll? -- Vili The Bat 3.62.14 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Szervizcsomag 2 Current beta is 3.62.14 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Hello Alexander, Until v3.0.1.33 my TB! was lighning fast, I did not see this behaviour... Now that you mention it... I just started 3.0.2.10 to make a comparison, and YES, I can confirm that 3.62.14 is a LOT slower opening and closing its windows. Its not such a dramatic difference on my system than on yours, but still quite noticable. :)) I tried in the meantime just to confirm myself. You cant even compare the too...

Hello Stuart, V 3. What is your service pack? SP2 I start to suspect that it will be the cause... Hello Arjan, 6. What is your TB! version (I am kind of interested in the .14, last version)? 2.12.03 Cheater :) With that version I have fast closing too :))) Thanks! Hello Peter, Saturday, November 19, 2005, 6:09:53 PM, you wrote: PF I have noticed the the screen redraws (I.e. it is drawn twice) when you PF you first open TB! I've reported this problem quite a while ago. There is something very strange on the graphics side. I have + Tested two different graphics cards (Radeon and nVidia) + Doubled the memory (from 512 to 1Gig) + Made sure by XP Professional SP2 were up to date. + Change graphics options (Windows Advanced Features) + Tested it on three different machines (Laptop, PII and and a PIII) + Cleaned out the registry + deleted the tbuser file numerous times + Done a new install twice. Still the graphics is a real problem. I think there is something in the underlying code. However, I am only a user and I can only report my problems from the perspective of using the program in the field. I suspect the programers are aware of this problem. Jerry -- Ethan J.
