Hello Silviu during the install process, is one required to fill in some key or member ID of some sort. I didn't.. but then again - about 6 months ago, I think I did register this package (on eval). During the install, it certainly knw my e-mail settings etc (t he Win2k install information) Perhaps there was something lurking in my registry which meant I was a real user, hence it didn't ask me. regards, Graham Foster -- A clean desk is a sign of a cluttered desk drawer. -- __ Archives : http://tbtech.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

With the idea of integration of AV software, raises the issue of which is the best AV software (that will work with TB! when its plugins are available) My requirements (as a home user on a low spec machine) would be low cost, small foot print and easy updates... Oh yes - would need to be effective ;-) Suggestions? Graham -- __ Archives : http://tbtech.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Oh yes - would need to be effective ;-) Suggestions? Well, I'm using Kaspersky Anti-Virus (AVP) available from http://www.kaspersky.com/ and it works nicely. A great pro for me are the updates are transparent HTTP or FTP connections (which is great if you want to set up your own update server). Also, it already works with The Bat. I strongly recommend it, especially since it's Russian, and we know, that if it's not USian software it must be good (other examples could be The Bat, Opera and Rar). -- m.tatarynowicz yourc s.a. (That the Windows user interface is rather ugly and not full of metallic effects and other nonsense is also reassuring; I would rather that the anti-virus engine is concentrated on). http://www.f-prot.is/ As I'm on a number of mailing lists with AOL users galore I get 3 or 4 viruses a week. Unfortunately, the stereotype is true; a preponderance of AOL users does imply trouble :/ Alastair -- __ Archives : http://tbtech.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello Günther , you won't find a free scanner with all your requirements. By my reading InoculateIT Personal Edition looked pretty good, as this is still available as a free download, with free updates, althought the free support has been stopped. I'm not adverse to spending money.. (I am a registered TB! Opera user after all).. but its good to check all the options first. I was amazed at the McAfee and Norton results! Humm, Russky..software..not easy to crack. I use NOD32 from eset software, www.eset.com don't know if it's American or British..but it has a California address; transparent updates and all, a little pushy on their 'environmental' changes, like a POP scanner they want you to use; auto configures with outlook express if you want to use it with the bat or others, it's manual config, so you get the picture. Still, it has had some good press. 39 USD for a year's subscription. C.K. -- __ Archives : http://tbtech.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
