Well it would be nice, that The Bat act like the most other applications or
Windows itself. Also CTRL+DEL is easy-to-type-Shortcut.

;-) Thanks, this Shortcut helps me alot, I thought if CTRL-DEL does not
work, there will be no other Shortcut for this work.

Duh, shame on me, I should have a closer look to the Documentation.

There is a forward template which is being used when you forward any

I accidentally copied an entry from one address book to another. In
the first address book, that entry was associated to a group with
group specific templates. In the other address book there were no
templates (since I didn't know about it.) When this person's template
was invoked, the results made absolutely no sense. They didn't
correspond to any of my templates. The results also varied depending
on the method I used to invoke the reply template.

The entry that is giving you problems, is it in multiple address
books? Is it in the group *with* a group specific template? Make
sure you check the Intermediate CA and Trusted Root CA AB's for your
contacts. I had managed to copy my contact into my Intermediate CA
address book, albeit unknowingly.

I must warn you that we may be chasing a red herring here. My problem
was with macros that have been introduced in the BETA series. I am
going to report my findings in TBBETA. I'm not convinced that my
experience is completely equivalent to yours, but finding out for sure
can only help find the bugfix.

Address Book
Group 1 New Msg = template, Reply = no template

What was the errant entry in your case?

AB templates (was: Re: reply & quote not working)

Check that neither group has group level templates (Under the Group
properties). If you do have at least one template defined on the
group level, check that you haven't accidentally created a copy of the
address in another address book. I had this happen to me and was
getting some very weird results until I removed the errant entry.

> Here we have a pattern: when the address is in two addressbooks, the

I have certain addresses in multiple address books, but none of them
have specific AB templates. Problems arise when you have multiple
entries with AB templates.

I'm not sure that this is a bug exactly, however, what I would like to
see is some way of ranking entries. I have various reasons for having
one person in several address books. I would love to be able to put a
ranking on that address so my the template defined in my Personal AB
is used in preference to the the template defined in the Family AB.
Something similar would need to be applied to groups.

IMO the Sorting Office needs to be re-designed, taking into account
all the oft-repeated questions on the lists and the shortcomings of
functionality (not that there're many).

If minimum change is a requirement, however, I would suggest adding
an item to the "Source folder" drop down box: "Any folder". So if I
want a filter to be versatile, I can put "any folder" as the source
folder.

Similarly, add an item to the "Destination folder" drop down box:
"Original folder (don't move)". Or, add a checkbox before the
"Destination folder" header, so you'll have to check it to choose a
destination folder. If it isn't checked, the messages won't be
moved.

I have only one address book, I do not use address book templates, or
indeed any templates other than TB! default with some minor additions.
Certainly nothing complex that would cause this behaviour.

As I said it's not a problem for me anyway, I rarely get HTML from

In 1.45 I get no visual indication that anything is done, other

It's not official, and yes, it is in the beta, but no, don't use it
yet. They are still working on it. The last sentence was the good

problem with deleting html-part of messages

Hello Batlisters,

When I delete the html part of a message (to get a plain text only
message) in a particular message folder, I get two messages. One is
the plain text version and one is the original one (with html).
Then I have to manually unpark the message and delete it.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

Don't apologize,I have had this behaviour on and off for months, I
just work-around it by copying and pasting text into the reply. It
definitely only occurs with HTML messages and it has nothing to do
with the reply template.

I have not checked any headers to see if the messages affected were
HTML only with no Text part, but I will next time it occurs.
Fortunately I don't receive much HTML mail, and even less that I would
wish to reply to:-)

I'm not sure about the version you are using, but it's a beta feature
now - one which is not implemented yet. So don't use it, as it is not
developed, and the effects are not sure.

I am surprised you get any dialogue when using the release version,

View is set to split-mode full height preview mode.

If I have one item selected I do not get the message. Any more than 1
and I get the x messages xxx selected. The selected count always
seem to be correct.

This message display is similar to what you get if you move the cursor
to the folder tree .. to the right of a folder whos entire name does
not show.

The message displays and then times out. It will not display again
unless the cursor leaves the message list pane and returns.

If this is the same message .. once again the count seems to be always
correct for selected items. These messages I am talking about are
probably from the Options/Cool Hits

I don't seem to get it in any consistent manner. Sometimes it's there
and sometimes not. It happens in the preview window (at the upper
right on my screen) when I pass my cursor over a blank area--for
example between the from and to fields.

But just now, I can't make it appear either. But it was there this
morning and is usually there. I know I didn't imagine it. If you turn
on Cool Hints in the Options menu, the information is highlighted and
in a larger font. I have Cool Hints turned off and see it, when I see
it, in a "normal" font.

Now I'm totally confused.

Hi Thomas,

   On Tuesday, November 28, 2000 @ 22:56:00 +0800, you wrote the
following about "reply & quote not working"

Thomas> I can only guess, if it happens with a few but not all

Thomas> This is guessware.

And good guesswork it is however, the particular addressbook entry
does not have a template nor is the "use specific template" option
selected. In this case it defaults to the standard reply template &
that, indeed, has a %quotes macro within it. So all good guesswork
but not the answer yet although I appreciate your thoughts on the
subject.

I deleted the offending address from my address book & the two groups
that it was associated with. I then shut down & reopened TB!. Then I
used CTRL-W or Specials menu/add sender option to re-enter the address
to the address book. I tried a reply & it worked. Then I went back
into the address book & assigned this address to 2 groups. Then I
tried to reply again & it did not function. I've repeated this a
couple of times. Its the only thing I have found that is consistent
with this problem but I surely don't know what it means.

Anomaly?

2000-11-28 Thread Michael S. Greenbaum

When I pass my cursor over the preview window, I get a small box
telling me the total number of messages and the total number selected.

The total number is always correct, but the total number selected is
usually 2--even though I have only one message highlighted.

If I highlight two messages, I'm told I have 3 selected.

Do others have the same problem?

BUT in follow up I must say that in just going back and testing this I
do not see this behavior any more . Although I *know* that this
was happening I do not know what could have corrected this.

SO to BAT .. i apologize. Although I find some bits anoying this is
possibly the most powerful product out there.

Hello syv,

When the message displayed is HTML then the tab doesn't focus the preview
pane. When the message is text everything is OK.
This sounds like a bug to me.

No. Then I can only guess, if it happens with a few but not all
messages, that those offending message use a tempalte whcih is empty
and does not have a %Quotes macro. For example, the mail to which you
are replying was sent from someone for who you have an addressbook
entry. In that addressbook entry, under the Reply tab, the box "Use
spcific tempalte" is ticked, but the field below (the tempalte) is
empty.

This is guessware.

Mmmh, I can't reproduce this behaviour - with and without HTML auto-view F4
and reply button are working (with and without selected text) out of the
preview pane. It didn't matter wether I pressed F4 in HTML preview or plain
text preview.

Did I miss something here?

Header info from offending email:

So that doesn't seem to be the problem, does it?
