no printing possible when to-field is empty
Hello, I'm a virgin in this list - means I'm new :) and I have some (maybe boring) questions about TB. Maybe I could find the answers in any archives or postings before, but I didn't. Maybe I don't know the right places (links and archives) and somebody can give me some advices. The first question is: I'm online all the day. Somethimes, when I write an email, I want to print it out and read it before I send it (the important once). Than I put the email addresses in the to-field (not before). But without having the email addresses in the to-field, I cannot print the mail. Is there a higher meaning in that behavior? My workaround is to write anything in that field, print it out and overwrite that anything with the email addresses. Is that a 'it is like it is - behavior-bug?' Next questions follows if you leave me alive :) Feel everybody free to correct my small funny english. -- Best regards, Anton mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.52 Beta/4 on Windows NT 5.0 Build 2195 (german version) Service Pack 1 Software in the background: Zonealarm Pro 1.0.122 McAfee 5.16 - scan engine 4.1.40 Browsers: Opera 5.02 english version IE 5.50.4522.1800 german version -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Why so many undeleted bat-tmp files in the temp-directory?
Hello, there are dozents of temp files in the temp-dir. They are still there when I close TB. The Bat! - suggestions
I sent the message below to the 'suggestions' address listed on the Ritlabs website, but it bounced back to me. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to put this in an attempt to reach the makers. Dear ppl at Ritlabs, First of all I'd like to give you my compliments for making an excellent mail program. There are two suggestions though that I'd like to make that would make your already great program even better and easier to use for me. 1) Hard returns and soft returns When 'Auto-Format' is on, it is impossible to have two consecutive lines that are not filled to the maximum width allowed by the set margins. It seems that there is no difference between what in word processors is sometimes referred to as a soft-return and a hard-return. This makes it very difficult to create *-lists in mails unless one adds a blank line between each item. Another situation is when I delete lines at the bottom of a message after having replied in order to get rid of the bottom part of the message, so only my signature is left, which often results in me deleting one line too many, the auto-format kicking in, reformatting the signature separator and my name (as seen below) onto one line. It would be nice if the internal editor would know which linebreaks are purely due to the margin setting, and which are entered purposely by the user. As a result, I often find myself continuously switching back and forth between 'Auto-Format' on and off. On a side note: is it possible to have the cursor only go to places where text and/or spaces were already typed, and to have the text be able to have spaces after the last character on a line, if only to be able to verify that the signature separator has a space after it. 2) Drag and Drop attachments I often receive messages containing more than one attachment of which I need to forward only one or several but not all to someone else. In order to do so, it would be nice if one could open the mail, open a second, new mail and just drag and drop the attachments that need to be added to the outgoing mail right from the window of the received mail onto the window of the new mail. Thank you again for making The Bat! and good luck with it's on-going development. -- Maurice ICQ: 15724776 WWW: http://www.kiap.org/ Thawte Web of Trust Notary, see http://www.thawte.com/ +--+ | Schrijf je in voor / Register for EuroBiCon One! | | 22-24 June 2001 Rotterdam, The Netherlands | | Website: http://www.intbiconf.org/ | +--+ S/MIME Cryptographic Signature
Easy macro question
Hello, I have 4 address books. Each address book has the name of one of my email addresses. When I write an email, I select the person directly from the address book via doubleclick. Now I want to use the macro %ACCOUNT="adressbook name" means %ACCOUNT="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" or %ACCOUNT="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and so on, to be independent from the selected account in TB. Because every friend should get my emails from always the same (his/her's known) email account. But... I cannot find a macro which gives me the name of the address book from which I selected the destination email. How can I do that or has anybody another idea? -- Best regards, Anton mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.52 Beta/4 on Windows NT 5.0 Build 2195 (german version) Service Pack 1 Software in the background: Zonealarm Pro 1.0.122 McAfee 5.16 - scan engine 4.1.40 Browsers: Opera 5.02 english version IE 5.50.4522.1800 german version -- __ Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: The Bat! - suggestions
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 On Wed, 11 Apr 2001 00:52:13 +0200, Maurice wrote these words of wisdom: MS 1) Hard returns and soft returns MS When 'Auto-Format' is on, it is impossible to have two consecutive MS lines that are not filled to the maximum width allowed by the set MS margins. It seems that there is no difference between what in word MS processors is sometimes referred to as a soft-return and a MS hard-return. Some of the editors great formatting routines such as the reformatting of quoted material will lead to this sort of limitation. The added advantage is that you'll always be aware of the formatting of your text and what the recipient will be seeing at the other end. Soft returns can be very deceptive and can lead to some lousy formatting that the recipient has to deal with. The only application that I see dealing with soft returns in a positive way is Agent and Becky, but then again, neither of them can reflow quoted material the way TB! can... MS As a result, I often find myself continuously switching back and forth MS between 'Auto-Format' on and off. If you find yourself constantly having to switch between both you may do better keeping auto-format off and then hitting alt+l whenever you need to do any text reflowing. MS On a side note: is it possible to have the cursor only go to places MS where text and/or spaces were already typed, and to have the text be MS able to have spaces after the last character on a line, if only to be MS able to verify that the signature separator has a space after it. TB!'s editor is pretty stuck in it's methodology and version 2 is slated to either include and alternate editor or provisions to seamlessly use an external editor of your choice. MS 2) Drag and Drop attachments MS I often receive messages containing more than one attachment of which MS I need to forward only one or several but not all to someone else.
