MS It's sort of a feature. You probably have selected enough columns or
MS changed the width of them so there is a horizontal scrollbar in the
MS message list. Now, if you go back to the message list by clicking on a
MS message and do so on the item that is at the edge of the screen (ie.
MS the item that's not fully shown), The Bat! will scroll the message
MS list left to put that column in full view.

what is actually happening seems to be related to the focus of cursor.

1. when you click on a folder, the last message you touched in that folder
is greyed but does not have the focus.
2. if you now play with the horizontal scroll bars without touching any
messages (say to scroll left or right to check the date or so)
3. now go to another folder and come back, you will find that the scroll
position of the message window has changed.

now repeat, but this time in step 2 scroll the message window _and_ select
a message so that it is not greyed but in your foreground colour.

this time you when go to another folder and back (using the mouse) you
will find the scroll position of the message window has been retained.

strange, but perhaps it is a feature.

cheers,
davidp.

I also tried %OATTACHMENTS, but that didn't do anything either. That

There's a facility in the current 1.54 beta versions (not the 1.53
release version) which allows messages to be automatically
virus-scanned by TB! _provided a TB!-specific plugin exists_.

At the moment, as far as I know, only Kaspersky Anti-Virus has a
plugin written for it, and the virus-checking facilities are greyed
out in any case ...

(I suppose thie point of this plugin architecture is to allow any
anti-virus vendor to hook their product into TB! easily and in a
predictable way).

If this were available, it would be of great help to
many of us even though The Bat! has it's own built in

None; see above.

Depends on 'what' kind of automatic you're talking about.
What's the final goal you want to achieve?

Entering system time of mail writing?
Random signature line?
Several different templates for different recipients?
Automatic controlling of coffee machine, freezer or television,

Re[2]: Macro in template

2002-01-20 Thread Joseph N.

Dierk,

Your message cleared up the problem I'd been having. I wasn't putting
the macro in the template, but testing it first in a newly composed
message. It needs to be in the template.

But now that I've gotten the syntax and macro procedure to work, I
think the whole thing may not be useful. You are correct, that the
attachment(s) need to be added prior to the macro being applied to the
current message. I sometimes have a lot of attachments, different
ones going out to different people. I used to put them in a special
outgoing attachments directory for security purposes, but that became
too hard to handle, so I've just started keeping them in the
recipient's own directory. It seems that, to use the macro procedure
and have the attachment in a known filepath prior to beginning the new
message, so that the macro can find and list the attachments, it will
be necessary to do the following: (a) put the attachments in a
dedicated directory, and (b) clean out the directory between each
email. (If I send one email with attachments and then prepare to send
another without, the second one, if it comes from the same template as
the first, will incorrectly list the attachments still in the
directory from the first one.) All in all, it seems too much trouble.
I think I'm better off just trying to remember to add the QT with the
list macro.

Is this your understanding? What procedures do you follow? Do you
have one filepath for all attachments and then clean it out
constantly?

JN

No. The macro %ATTACHMENTS does not scan through a special
directory it simply outputs filenames of attachments currently
attached to the message. With 'currently' is meant: just about the
same second this macro is interpreted/executed.

So if you for example create a quick template containing only
'%ATTCHMENTS', write your mail, attache some files and call the quick
template it will output the filenames found to be attached just at the
same position the cursor is in mail body.

If you decide to attach some more files this list will not be updated.
Imagine this as a 'one time' routine, it runs, collects informations,
puts them out and is forgotten. Even the position the macro was is
forgotten, so you'll have to initiate another run manually every time
condition changes means: every time you change attachments,
either deleting or adding.
