Filter forward with Template

2002-02-01 Thread Gerard de Vries

Hi Bat Users,

I have a filter that automatically forward a msg.
I works perfectly but doesn't use the template I have setup under the
 action tab "Forward T0".
Did I forget a switch somewere?

Also I can't find a way to add a CC: in the forwarded msg only BCC's

 Thanks for the help.

Hi Raj,

It just forwards the email, with no added text.
I havn't tried the %CC macro because it doesn't do anything with any

Have a look into your outbox for the message which has been forwarded. Does
the layout of message look as if it has been created by some other template.

Have you used Quick Templates...if so ensure that the correct name is used and
that the QT is available for the account (Share with other accounts option)

The Bat! and message status on the POP3-server

2002-02-01 Thread Marcus Ohlström

OK, here's my scenario:

Sometimes I telnet to my ISP to read my mail with pine. Later, when popping
them with Eudora, the latter client reflects the status of the messages on
the pop3-server and does not mark these messages as unread (since they
*have* been read, just not with Eudora).

If I instead pops the mail with The Bat! it insists on marking the message
as unread. Is there anyway to make The Bat! work as Eudora in this aspect?

(No, I don't want to change to Eudora, this is the only feature of Eudora
that I miss in The Bat! :-)

Marcus Ohlström

No answer other than yes, I'd like to be able to do this too! One of the
nice things about Eudora was that you could use the same POP3 mailbox
from different locations and maintain read/unread status. I can't use
IMAP for various reasons.

Auto mark as read after filtering

2002-02-01 Thread wee David

Hi.

Is there any way to filter messages to a folder and then have them
marked as read automatically?

Basically, I've joined a high volume mailing list - 656 messages since
joining on 27/01/2002. I don't have time to read every message as it
arrives, but keep them to plough through when I find time. I like the
animated icon alert, but don't want it for all these messages.

Yes.

Create the filter (Account-Sorting Office Filter). Select string which will
match all messages from the group.

Actions would be to move the message to the desired folder. Then in the Action tab
check the box 'Mark as read' This will be an incoming filter.

Do you mean that you want to have the messages marked as "Read" but
you still want the "new mail" animation when new mail comes in to that
folder?

Yes. With using 'Account' / 'Dispatch Mail on Server' / 'All Messages'
you can selectively download the message that was left on server and
delete it from there (after you've downloaded or even before if you
decide you don't want to download this mail).

Wow. 5 answers within 15 minutes!

There's so much in The Bat! that it's difficult for a new user to know
where to look.

That's what makes this list so good.

Thanks to all who replied.

Furthermore, that would in at least one important aspect help me with my
synchronization issue. It's not what I actually want, but with this feature
I could change my way of using mail to achieve a sufficient level of
synchronization.

Are the authors of The Bat! still reading this list? If so, please concider

No, I can't. Sure, I can read them, but when I download them they
still show up as unread in my inbox.

BTW, the main reason why I'm using Eudora to fetch my private mail at
work is since I didn't get The Bat!'s mail dispatcher to work
properly. It seamed to have difficulties understanding which mail I wanted to
manipulate. Very annoying.

Hmm... That's probably one of the worst error descriptions I've ever
read. I guess I should figure out exactly what went wrong instead of
trying to remember what I did two months ago...:-)

I'm just the opposite. I had filters set up to mark all incoming mail
as unread, because I collected mail at home and at the office, and I
wanted to know what was just downloaded, not have stuff marked as read
just because it had already been collected by another instance of
eudora somewhere where I had a computer running but where I was not
present. I like the fact the bat marks everything as unread until I
change it. I may or may not have read it somewhere, but I haven't read
it here.

It looks like a redirected email. No text is added. It looks like no
template was activated. It doesn't even have the "original text" lines.
Before you ask, no its a forward not a redirect.
I also have non of the boxes for kludges/attachment/Mime/ checked

No it full automatic.

Email is received and, true a filter on senders name, redirected to an
other account were it is caught by the in-box filter again on sender
name. I then

Problem downloading message with large attachment

2002-02-01 Thread David Denton

Hello TBUDL,

I have recently had a problem trying to receive a message with a 4.3
MB attachment. The rate the file is being transferred, as shown in
the connection centre box, slows to just a few characters per
second, and shows that it will take as much as 800 hours to download
the file at that rate. Both bar and the pie progress indicators seem
to show that nothing is happening. I wait and I wait, but finally, I
am obliged to Abort the transmission. The file keeps on trying to
come in, and I have to disconnect.

I went through this a couple of times until I switched back to
Outlook Express to receive the message and it worked fine. The file
transfer took about 15 minutes with a 56K phone connection.

Either the progress indicator is giving incorrect information, and
the file is actually coming in more quickly than it shows, or
something else is wrong in how The Bat! is handling this large
attachment. I have received lots of attachments (though none quite
this large)with The Bat! since I began using it last month, and have
not been aware of any problem,

Has anybody else had this experience? What might be wrong?

 You can copy the filters
Open Notepad (or another text editor)
 Open the sorting office
  Repeat
Select a filter
Press
Paste the filter into notepad ()
  Until all filters are copied
 Close the sorting office
 Select your new account
 Open the sorting office
 Select all text in notepad
 Copy it ()
Paste it in the sorting office ()

There is a second way.
Create a new account
Close TB
Copy the files account.cfg, account.srx and account.flx from the
directory with your old account to the directory with your new
account. Now you have two identical accounts, since you copied the
account setup (including the account templates) with the .cfg, the
filters with the .srx and the folder setup with the .flx.
Now start TB
You'll see that the new account has the same folders (though empty)
and filters as the old account.
Correct the account properties for the new account so they're correct
and you're done.

Thank you very much, copying the files worked perfectly.

Now, how do I get rid of the password dialogue box? No one but me
uses computer and I don't need to authorize opening up an account
(managed somehow (it wouldn't send jpg without it) to set that in when I sent a jpg
from the desktop and
created a TB transmittal email the other evening).

for small Win2000 network. Very simple, searched around for a while
