That is, there's no body. The problem has occurred with a Yahoo Group mailing list.
Has anyone come across this? The problem might be with Yahoo, or with the receiving

anything in TB! that anyone knew of.

FWIW, I've been using the Windows editor (proportional fonts), and I'd never come
across this in Bat versions eralier than 2.

Any help appreciated; thanks in advance

Bats-

(sigh)

I have to say that so far I'm not very impressed with v2.00.6. Mind
you, this is after only about half an hour's look at it, but I don't
at all like the way it handles MIME digests. In 1.6x I can
double-click the contents in the preview pane on the left to view the
subject and who wrote the messge, etc. All v2 shows me is a bunch of
messages, each named 1.MSG. Then there are various tabs at the bottom
of the message pane, again each named 1.MSG.

This is not only unhelpful, but is a giant step backwards from the
info displayed in TB v1.6x.

Is there some hidden setting that will show something more meaningful
or is that Just The Way It Is? This is me moving back to v1.63b9.

You are using v1.62i. Antispam plugins are only saupported since 2.0.
So unless you intent to upgrade to tb 2.0 BayesIt isn't an option for
you. I am using Popfile since Saturday. Setting it up was painless and
it's working a treat. I am currently at 94.42% accuracy and since it

David, I missed your earlier request. I Just switched from PopFile to
SpamBayes ( http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/ ). It's been kind of a
pain to set up--for me, at least--but I finally got it working today
and it has great possibilities.

The thing that I like about it is that it doesn't just have the Spam
and Ham (or nonspam) categories of PopFile, but it has a third:
Unsure. I don't get a lot of spam, but with PopFile, after 3 months I
was still getting false positives dumped into my Spam folder, so I was
still checking it regular--defeating the whole purpose of the filter.

Presumably, after a little training (and I got a good start with about
250 spam messages I'd collected previously), I will only need to
occasionally check my Unsure folder, and VERY rarely my Spam folder.

Quick Search

2003-09-29 Thread ken green
Do many people on this list use the Quick Search feature? I noticed a
thread about some UI issues, but I'm wondering about the actual
functionality of Quick Search.

I love TB's search speed and use the regular search quite a bit. But
after reading a few posts here, I thought I'd give Quick Search a try.

It appears that if I want to search for a word and just start typing,
the first closest match is selecting. As I get more specific, the
selected item may change to match the search string.

But how do I *quickly* find the next occurrence? Unless I am missing
something, or doing it wrong, the only way I can tell to find the next
occurrence of the quick search string is to move focus to the messages
list, select the next message down, then go back to the quick serach box
and delete some characters.

Surely I'm missing something important. The method I describe above is
anything but Quick Searching.

DRA Correct? Thank you.

No, incorrect. Of these only BayesIt is a Plugin. Popfile, Spampal and
K9 are independent programs that work with nearly every mail program.
The last one is based on tb's filtering system. It works if you receive
very few mails from contacts who are not in your addressbook. If that
applies to you, use that approach, if not try Popfile, Spampal, K9 or
some similar program.

I can only speak for Popfile. The way it works is that it sits between
your mail server and tb. It then adds a certain header to all mails
specifying the category the mail belongs to. This way you can make tb
filter on the header that marks spam.

This is preserved in v2. Double click one of the messages and you open a

browse and handle just as though they were separate and in a folder.

MW All v2 shows me is a bunch of messages, each named 1.MSG.

MW backwards from the info displayed in TB v1.6x.

Actually, clicking on each tab will display the message. Displaying the

header bar will show the headers for the attached message being
currently viewed.

MW Is there some hidden setting that will show something more meaningful
MW or is that Just The Way It Is?

Do you have the header bar enabled? If not, enabling it would be
helpful. When you double click on one of the attached messages, do you
have the message list enabled for the new window that pops up. Enabling
the message list (View//message list) will show a list of all the
attached messages for you to browse.

Other than that, there are no 'secret' features.
