What version of XRay are you using? The latest version (1.4) has a
simpler system for setting up filters than earlier versions did.

What header to you want to add and why can't you do it with TB!?

Hi Robin,

I was using 1.0.4 and just upgraded to 1.4. At least it has a better help file
:-)

I wanted to do some conditional processing on the headers/kludges and thought
this would be easiest in Xray, but I could not crack the filtering system.
I am making slow progress though :-)

There is no discussion. Xray can do almost anything with headers and the
filtering, although it has a difficult interface, can do al sorts of great
tricks.

The best thing is that you can do this on email that arrives before it is being
handled by the TB! filters. This creates an number of very nice possibility.

Like was suggested before, Xray should really be integrated into TB!.

I was using ThunderBird pretty much exclusively for a couple months
myself. I've since started using TB! at home and ThunderBird at work.
I cannot use ThunderBird at work. I've now entered the realm of being
able to use different clients at different locations. I had a serious
problem with the inconsistency and my consistent side insisted that I
use only one. I guess using Thunderbird and growing accustomed to it
allows me to easily use both. It's like being fluent in 2 languages.
:)

One things for sure. My fluent use of ThunderBird has opened up my
eyes to a lot of problems with TB! and the reverse certainly/obviously
applies as well.

I have seen this happen just a few times with .html and I don't blame
TB, at least 100%.

The way I have recovered is by "re-selecting" the icon for html in
Windows Explorer: My steps in Win2000 are:

- On Win Explorer select Tools/Folder Options/File types.
- On the list of file types select html
- On the frame for "Details for HTML extension" click on the Advance
button.
- When the "Edit File Type" dialog opens click on the "Change Icon"
button.
- On the "Change Icon" dialog enter the path for Internet Explorer
which, in my case, is C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
and graphically select the icon I want to use.

After that and after re-starting TB the html icon shows properly in TB.
I assume the same thing should work for PDF or any other file type.

List headers?

2005-01-19 Thread Leo Landa

Hello,

I have a question about The Bat! having any functionality relating to
mailing list-related headers. Most well-behaving lists add certain
headers to messages in order to communicate the list management
information properly. Even the TBUDL list does this:

List-Id: tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com
List-Unsubscribe:
,

List-Post:
List-Help:
List-Subscribe:
,

Now, a mailer such as PINE, when showing a message with those headers,
presents text that indicates the ability to do management and a
special link - which transfers the user to the management options
(subscribe/unsubscribe, etc.)

So, can The Bat! do something with this, or is it still missing
functionality?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Leo.

The problem I had is that I tried to do it to simple.

I now found with the new documentation that it has to be:

If it were possible this would be a great options. Sort of like a cafeteria
model for software. You only take what you want.

It could even help TB! become acceptable for business use with a appointment
scheduling module and contact database. Which can be left out by those feeling
the a "real" e-mail program works in only 7bit ASCII and should not take up more
memory space then 15KB ;-)
