Customiser?

2006-04-30 Thread Chris
Hi everyone,

In the release notes for the new v3.80.03, Ritlabs have said there is now a
customiser in The Bat! Typically, there seems to be no help file entry for
this, so can someone who knows what it is, explain what exactly it is, and
point me to some instructions on its use?

TB's program directory should have a subdirectory images, thats where

You must have administrative rights to create a new folder in the
%PROGRAMFILES% path, but its OK to create the directory of course. :-)

Its C:\Program Files\Internet\The Bat!\images here

Copy both the data directory (the pcwsmileys folder where the actual
graphics are) and the index file (pcwsmileys.msl) into the images
directory and restart TheBat.

All that left before seeing the images now is that you must switch to
the Rich Text Viewer, and enable the smileys.

Either temporarily by right-clicking in the Rich Text Viewer
window/preview and checking the Smileys, or permanently in the editor
prefs, Options / Preferences / Viewer-Editor, checkbox in the middle...

TB 3.80.03 and MS Exchange

Batfolk,

I have finally upgraded from v3.0.1. The principal reason is that I
understand the post 3.0.1 versions will connect to MS Exchange, which
is what is imposed on me at work.

However, after looking through the new menus, I cannot see where I
would set this up. Can anyone provide me with instructions, or a link

Need a Virtual Folder Filter

2006-04-30 Thread Robert D.
I've lost my VF Filter that looked in Header Field 'References:' to
see if the particular message was in reference to something I had
posted.

Presently, I cannot see how to make a VF Filter for that because
looking at 'Filter' from 'Properties' OF the particular filter does
not produce the choice for 'Header Field'.

Whereas, Looking at filters in a regular account does produce that
available choice. The VF I have 'Replies-to-Me' lies in the
über-Accounts, or Global, or whatever we want to call it. I want
Incoming, unread traffic filtered to see if it's a thread I'm in then
mirrored obviously in the VF.

I previously got help on this from ya'all but recently lost it while
re-loading various previous versions and then reverting back to this
current Beta.

Thanks

Create a regular filter that sets a color group for those messages you
want to appear in the VF. I created a color group directly to me for
messages that contain (the domain part of) my message-ids in the
in-reply-to header.

In the VF I filter for that color group.

Maybe the restriction of the headers filter to regular filters is
because of the performance.

Customizer lets you customize the menus and shortcuts in TB! You
access it by right clicking beside the menu bar and selecting
customize.

On the main tab there are 3 windows. The first lists all the menu bars
available, the second has all the actions available and the third has
the current layout of the currently selected container. You can add or
delete actions from each menu bar or create your own menus.

You can also edit shortcuts on the next tab.

That's it generally. If you have specific questions please ask.

OK:

1) Whether or not I have the main TB window on Monitor 1 or 2, a Create New
Message window always opens on Monitor 1 - no amount of creating and
closing in any combination will persuade the Create New Message window to
open on Monitor 2.

2) When the Laptop is on walkabout - away from Monitor 2, TB, un,like
other applications, still tries to display windows on the non-existent
Monitor 2 and then I have to use right click on the task bar icon for the
wayward window and hit arrow down to capture it and guess how to drag the
mouse to make it appear on the Laptop display.

This is no good of course, if the wayward window has no task bar icon
(such as a Save dialogue (for an attachment, say)).

3) Well those two will do for now...

Yes, I do! *raises hand* I use TB on a WinXP PRO system with dual
monitors.

1) TB insists on centering itself between both monitors when I bring
it back from residing in the sys tray. Half of TB is on one monitor,
the other half is on the other monitor. I have to restore down then
maximize again to get it entirely on one monitor.

2) If TB is on the secondary monitor, new messages are still created
on the primary monitor, and the new message window opens too high and
the bit is cut off, I can't do anything with it but right click on it
in the task bar and hit close. So been keeping TB on my primary
monitor.

3) The Mail Ticker roams around the bottom part of my desktop on both
monitors. If never did this until I got dual monitors.

That's all I can think of right now. Just woke up :P

Hello John!

I can't find a place to select the size.

But in View/Toolbars/Customise, when you get the window up with its 3
panels, on the far left panel under Container/Main form click on
Standard. Then in the far right panel, Layout, you will see the menu
icons currently on your Standard toolbar.

Highlight (select) one of those and you will see some Change buttons
below. Change Image will show you a choice of icons.

I don't think control of the size is offered.

When icon size was being discussed in a recent thread on TBBETA, it
turned out that many did not still have the file batskin.xml--I
found a message where you said you thought you might have lost it in a
tbuser.def loss at some point.

I meant to offer to send you my batskin.xml file at the time, in case
you wanted to see if that would let you access control of icon size,
as some of us still have, by setting the pixel values. But then I
remembered that I'm using MAU's yellowish icons set, and you might
not like those.

Anyway, I think at present this is the only way to control icon size:
by opening a batskin.xml file in Notepad or other text editor and
changing the size numbers.

If you'd like to try mine, I'd be happy to send it to you as a PM
attachment. It should be placed in the TB! main directory.

Yes. Dual monitor system. Left monitor is the add on. Right monitor is
the monitor with the Windows start menu, etc.

MG 1) Whether or not I have the main TB window on Monitor 1 or 2, a Create New
MG Message window always opens on Monitor 1 - no amount of creating and

MG open on Monitor 2.

Create new message always starts here on the same screen as the main

closed.

MG 2) When the Laptop is on walkabout - away from Monitor 2, TB, un,like
MG other applications, still tries to display windows on the non-existent

Confirmed. I'm using a fixed setup with two monitors, but I
encountered that behaviour when one monitor was dead. It wasn't the
only program with that behaviour, though.

MG 3) Well those two will do for now...

Well, what I thought what was the worst, was that TB refused to
remember the proper monitor when run maximised. But that was easily
fixed by not running it maximised, but dragging the borders of TB's
main window to the edges of its assigned monitor.

I am seeing issues as described here [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 What difficulties are you seeing?

None as yet - haven't upgraded - I noticed some discussion and wanted to
check the current situation before I upgraded - I can't afford problems
with redirected, forwarded or created emails from filter actions.

MG The following destination backup is failing...
MG E:\TheBatBackUp\TheBatBackUp-%DATE-%TIME.tbk
MG Can anyone suggest why?

The time includes a colon and that's a big nono in file names.

MG How do I combine %TIME with the format options like -mm-dd-hh-nn?

I just tested this succesfully:
D:\Mijn Backups\The Bat!\%Date=-MM-DD-%Time=HH-MM-SS.tbk
It gave me: 2006-05-01-00-50-31.tbk
