Re[2]: How can I skip the CC field when using tab from the TO: field?

2000-08-19 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello Aaron and everyone else...

AG Great! Figured that out finally. Now, is there any way to get the
AG cursor to start on the subject line for folders where the To: is
AG always going to be the same?

Well, no. But if you reply to a message rather than creating a new
one, the cursor begins in the document at the point of the %cursor
macro.

Threading not always correct? (was Re[2]: How can I skip the CC field when using tab from the TO: field?)

2000-08-19 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello Marck and everyone else...

MDP Having said that (and it is true) beware the "References" and
MDP "In-reply-to" headers which contain threading information for replies.
MDP This can lead to unrelated issues becoming threaded together.

I've noticed totally unrelated subjects get threaded together, and I'm
never sure if the sender used a reply function rather than creating a
new message, or if either TB or TBUDL is not processing the references
properly. Can anyone provide an explanation?

Re[2]: How can I skip the CC field when using tab from the TO: field?

2000-08-19 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello A and everyone else...

ACM That is potentially dangerous especially for those who use the %To
ACM macro at the folder level. Messages may be inadvertently CC'd to an
ACM additional address. It's good practice to have both fields in view and
ACM check them prior to each mail send.

Oh? I can't understand how this would happen. Under which
circumstances would it occur?

Re: How can I skip the CC field when using tab from the TO: field?

2000-08-18 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello Aaron and everyone else...

AG What I'd really like to be ablt to do is have the cursor start on
AG the subject line for mailing list folders, like this one, with the
AG To: field already filled in. I got the TO: field part with a macro
AG but the cursor still starts on the TO: line, and I never CC anyone
AG when I reply or post to a list.

Perhaps you'd be happier disabling CC: view, only re-enabling it when
you have a specific use for it?

Re: Versions

2000-08-07 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello Cameleon and everyone else...

C About the beta3 of 1.46, how long time will it work, or will it
C recognize the reg-key of 1.45 ?

Just unzip the download into your The Bat! folder, overwriting the
existing thebat.exe file. Start Bat! as usual and 1.46b3 is now
active. If you have registered Bat!, any future 1.x betas will (I
assume) recognize your registration info.

C The fact that we can't cancel any POP-checking in 1.45 is really a
C problem for me. I hope it IS fixed in the 1.46beta !!!

Fixed in 1.46b3. At least, I haven't had any problems.

Re[2]: Filter...again ;-)

2000-08-05 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello Windisch and everyone else...

WG I think it is possible, Account/Filters/Incoming filter/Alternatives. (I've
WG never tried this so far, but I think that's what you need.)

As an alternative to Alternatives (*g*) you can use the pipe ( | )
character as "OR".

I.E. to filter for "john" or "jan", you can use one filter rule for:
john|jan

Re: Buffer overrun vulnerability?

2000-08-04 Thread Gold Gaurami

Hello W. and everyone else...

WNK Is The Bat! subject to the same kind of buffer overflow exploit to which
WNK other email clients are susceptible? (e.g. too long a subject line
WNK etc...)

Well, I don't know how long "too long" is... But I just sent myself a
mail from a command-line mailer with a subject 32,748 bytes long, and
TB receives and displays it just fine. Well, pretty much. For some
reason, the string "Length=97" was appended to the end of the subject
string. Curious.

I originally wanted to send a subject somewhere around 85k but my
ISP's STMP server wouldn't let a message with headers 32k be sent!
