I always do this. It's called Full Synchronization in TB. Does not work

On my phone I can easily set it up with the same folders as on the server.

They are on the server. They may be mirrored on the computer but only if I set
it up.

That would depend on the mail client on the phone. K9 mail for Android lets see
all mail in one folder (aggregated) or lets you browse the messages in each
folder.

Exactly.

I check the same accounts using an Android phone, webmail, TheBat and Outlook.
Using IMAP means that a mail is marked read when it's read on any of those
clients. Also all mail is available to all clients since it sits on the server.

I'd suggest using only IMAP.

IMAP issue with attachments

2010-05-12 Thread Peter Fjelsten
TheBat-users,

Since I can see in Mantis that work has commenced on IMAP, I write to see if
others have this problem. I am not running the newest version as I refuse to
upgrade before IMAP improves. Remote Outbox.

I create a new mail and write some text. This is an HTML mail but I am pretty
sure it doesn't matter.

Add an attachment. After some time, I get the error below (when auto-save kicks
in):

---
Edit Mail Message -> ("recipient")
---

---
OK
---

Try to save mail but I cannot (neither Save nor Save message as draft). I try to
close the mail window and then just say yes to keep existing copy and then I get
this (this messaging window was open):

---
Edit Mail Message -> The Bat User List
---
Access violation at address 00BD9DE3 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address

---
OK
---

Opened the original message again from the Outbox, wrote some more and then
got:

---
Edit Mail Message
---
Access violation at address 00BD9DE3 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address

---
OK
---

IMAP + remote outbox + attachments = trouble here (I think this is fully
reproducible - I have seen this a hundred times).

If developers want a test account (I made one for 9Val at some time), just
contact me.

Now the CC is sort of OK, but the To field is also emptied. I know I can

Quick template reply shortcut

2009-05-18 Thread Peter Fjelsten
TheBat-users,

For one account, I have created a special (Outlook-like) quick template used
for replies. It is not my standard reply template (which I have set in account
properties and for some address book groups).

So I invoke it using a keyboard shortcut (I have to due to a bug: if I reply to
a HTML mail with a table in it and invoke the template using +
the HTML table is broken) but this way any people in the CC list is not
included. The shortcut is set in Reply Shortcut on the quick template.

How can I make sure that people on the CC list are included

Possible reasons:

* If you are unable to do server side filtering

* If you sometimes read mail via a mobile phone that is only able to download
mail from the Inbox folder. (This is my reason.)

It means that it disconnects from the server if you do not "work" with

Well, this should pose no problem. You can do this with filters,
server-side or local.

Well, you can have folders on the server in which you can store you
mail. When you have fully synchronized them (so the full message is
local), you can move them to a local folder freeing up space on the
server.

> Let me get this straight, once the IMAP is configured and your server
> comes online, the IN box is filled with messages as appearing on your

It depends on your synchronization settings. Please review them: they
should be fairly self explanatory.

> Is it a copy of the messages that appears in your IN box?

No it _is_ the messages on the server. Delete one - and it's gone on the
server (after you "purge").

> Then, how do i
> activate the filters for this IN box if the messages are itself not
> physically downloaded?

You can have server-side filtering and local filtering. If you retrieve
message structures with message headers you can filter on some thing but
in order to filter on contents in the text of the mail you need to
synchronize Headers and text. This way you can filter as with POP3.

> do i have to move the messages from IN box to X
> box and then run the filters from here?

You can have filters moving messages from the inbox to any folder (local
or server-side).

> do you mean that the folders in the server should be created or the
> desktop client that i use?

To get the full use of IMAP you should create folders on the server.
Again, you _could_ do a full sync. and just move the messages to a local
folder, but then you're not really working with IMAP as it is intended.

> in our server it got only IN,OUT,SENT and TRASH but in my desktop

You can have folders on IMAP servers, too. Maybe not sub-folders - I
think this depends on the server.

I think you should google a bit for IMAP in order to understand what
that protocol entails. I know it's a little difficult since it's
different from POP but to me it's really much better than POP.

Well, TB IMAP is still not perfect but is better in the later versions.

Well, the point of the IMAP protocol is that all e-mail is stored on the
server instead of locally.

You can then decide how "much" of the message you want to to synchronize
locally. Maybe you just want headers or maybe you want the full message.

The beauty of IMAP is that if you need your mail from another computer
or via webmail, all your mail (also old mail) is there, in the folders
you have created for it.

Er, the point with IMAP is that messages are (also) stored on the
server.

Well, the whole point of IMAP is that messages are stored on the server.
However, you can create folders on the IMAP server (like with POP3) so
you can move the messages there.

When you delete (and purge) mail in IMAP it is deleted from the server.
You can set TB to download (synchronize) only headers. This way you
can "preview" headers à la dispatcher.

Account properties > Properties > IMAP Fine-tune. Make sure Retrieve
messages structures with message bodies and auto filtering is checked.

It might also make sense to make sure the filters are only triggered on
the inbox and sent folders of your account.

I am not sure. I think you may be able to convert it.

Alexander,

Quoting Alexander Kunz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

The MAPI mode of TB looks like a mixture between IMAP and POP3. It finds
the serverside folder structure, but it downloads the messages into a
local cache as it seems, or whatever.

This was my feeling as well.

I think Ritlabs have quite some nerve to call it Exhange protocol.
Anyone would think it would behave like Outlook which of course, it
doesn't at all.

I haven't found the same in
MAPI accounts (and didn't bother to check either I must admit, because
IMAP is so much better).

I agree regardign IMAP, but IMAP - for some ridiculous reason - has
been disallowed at my work.

Ritlabs, any comments?

Exchange help

2007-01-25 Thread Peter Fjelsten

Hello

I am new to the Exchange protocol (I have been accessing the Exchange
server at work via IMAP and here it works as expected. However, IMAP
is no premitted at my work), so a couple of things puzzle me:

If I manipulate mail (move, delete, etc) in Outlook 2003, the
manipulations carry over to TB. But if I manipulate in TB, the
manipulations do not carry over to Outlook. Why?

Why do mail in the Outbox not carry over between profiles?

If I select "Delete from server" when having fetched mail, will the
mail also be deleted from Outlook?

Is the TB Exchange protocol broken?

I have set up Exchange in TB to use the profile I use in Outlook and
leave mail on the server.

Well, it sort of works - but you need to rename folders and import them

Well, my only input is that the current implementation is pretty bad for

Of course, memos are of little use in IMAP accounts. One "Clear cache"
and they're all gone.

I'd prefer them to be in external files (and not the index) and linked

As can be seen in my signature, I use TB! with Exchange here at work.
However, I use the IMAP protocol as the last time I tried the MAPI

Are you talking about the "folders" signifying an account? Then you need
a different icon set (or modify it yourself).

If it's a folder, e.g. Inbox, then the answer is the same. A quick and
dirty version is to make a colour group (with a background colour) and
apply it to the folder you want highlighted.

TP> 5) Is there a way to automatically file replies in the same folder

Nope. You can use filters to do this: I have a filter that moves all
communication with members of my family to a certain folder. They are
all in the same address book group. I have made both an incoming and
outgoing filter that moves all mail to/from members of that address book
group to the folder in question.

No problem. Just move the flags up and down in View mode manager.

TP> 7) What is a "common" folder?

A folder that is not part of any account.

TP> 8) When I create folders for IMAP accounts, I want to create those

Just create a folder: TB will make it on the server, too. Or use Account

TP> 9) What are the "document" icons in the status window for?

I am not sure which icons you are referring to.

TP> 10) Is there any way to "export" templates?

Not to my knowledge but you can share them between accounts.

TP> 11) Is there any way to specify, "check this account after this other

Not to my knowledge but maybe using the Scheduler.

I think you need to provide a path to a file - like:

%PUT="path\to\textfile.txt"

Here, the content will be shown in the body of the mail.

Or %ATTACHFILE = "filepath" which attaches the file specified in the
path. Of course, you need to overwrite the old file with a file with the
same name but with the new contents.

I think it is probably more elegant to have contents in the body of the
mail, but that's just me.

You could make a new address book (group), import all your addresses
into it and then make a quick template to use for the mass mailing.

Then, in the address book, focus on the relevant book (group) and select
File > New mass mailing from template...

As Marck explained if mailboxes corrupt the probability is much greater

What I think most does is to make filters in the Sorting office.

Normally it is a bad idea to keep too many messages in the In- and
Outboxes.

One possible setup:

An outgoing filter that moves all Sent mail to Folder1

Make a filter that moves all incoming mail to Folder1

Or, a filter that moves all replied mail from the Inbox to Folder1

Or, a filter that moves all read mail from the Inbox to Folder1

And, for Folder1, make a View mode that sorts on references (or
  subject, or references and subject).

Another possible setup:

Make a Virtual folder based on your Inbox and Sent mail and set up a
View mode for this folder, which sorts on references (or subject, or
  references and subject).

This hopefully helps you.

I have also just tried it (and I like it!). I also get the problem with
extra lines. It appears that if you reply to just one person, there are
n additional lines. If you add another person to that message there are
n+x extra lines. X != 1.

Things you might want to consider if you decide to extend the macro:

  * People (like me) might be using the "greeting type based on time of
day" which decides with stands in front on the list of names.
Therefore you should possibly not add any type of greeting. Also,
the fixed "hi all" might not be fitting if you also answer mail to
non-English-speaking people?

  * Maybe another possible extension could be to also greet people in
the CC field in parentheses - like Hello Bill (Bob, John)?

I really like the aka: bit.

Help with RegExp

2005-01-25 Thread Peter Fjelsten
TheBat-users,

This may belong to tbtech, but it appears to be quite simple RegExp
(although it is over my head).

I am having a person knowledgeable of RegExp help me with some RegExp, I
want to do in TB! The thing is that he does not know how TB! works.

I have a mail which contains some order lines and I want to be able to
extract the information from those. An example:

 ===

 2 x Jetfin (SP-Jetfins) = 2.000dkk
 Størrelse XL
 Farve Sort
 1 x Solaris (ST-Solaris) = 650dkk
 2 x Transporttaske (DTD-Taske) = 700dkk

 ===

The problem is that the prices are total prices, i.e. the price of the
"Jetfins" is 1.000dkk a pair. So the price must be divided by the
 ordered amount.

But the price _may_have_ a . for easier reading (I know this should be
an , in English) and you cannot make a calculation 2.000/2 in TB!
because 2.000 is not a number. How can I match the number, removing any
 . in the process?

 Trying to match e.g. 240dkk and 1.100dkk - using:
 1)
 %SetPattRegExp='(?i-s)(\d+(?=dkk))'
 240dkk => 240
   1.100dkk => no_match

 2)
 %SetPattRegExp='(?i-s)\d(?=\.)(\d+(?=dkk))'
 240dkk => no_match
   1.100dkk => no_match

 Please help. TIA.
