Re: Relay personality in Thebat
Hi Alexander and all, snip Erm... what is a relay personality? PL] It is a feature of Eudora that allows you to send an email using a different account. Quoting from Eudora's help, The Internet Service Provider (ISP) with whom you have your primary email account may not allow you to send messages through any other Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server but their own. If you have accounts at other ISPs or third-party email services, you may not be able to send mail from those accounts unless you use your primary ISP's SMTP servers. The SMTP relay feature allows you to send all your mail through your primary ISP's server. A personality is just a term for another account. For example, My email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] However, mydomain.com does not allow me to send email unless I am directly connected to the ISP. So I have a gmail account and setup that account in Eudora. Then, I set [EMAIL PROTECTED] to send email through that account. -- Pranav Current version is 3.65.03 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Using a single set of filters with more than 1 account
snip Create a common filter and share it with the accounts that should use it. PL] Thanks Alexander. This is what I was looking for. I have already created a number of filters for an account. How do I move them to the common filters as you suggested? I tried right clicking the filters and using the cut tree option and then pasting the tree in the common filters but that did not seem to help. Finding the folders icon in the filters dialog
Hi all, This question is directed specifically at screen reader users. How does one find the folders icon in the main filters dialog? I need to change the folder where the messages are being filtered too. The edit box displaying the folder is just before the strings edit box. There is supposed to be a folder icon according to the FAQ at http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/FAQ.html; but I can't find it. I did an automatic graphics label with jfw but it found no icons to label. Current version is 2.00.6 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Placing an address in the bcc field with a keystroke
Hi all, Can I place a particular address from TheBat's address book in the bcc field of a message via a keystroke? I have encountered a feature in Eudora and Outlook where if I have highlighted a particular address I can hit alt+b to transfer it to the bcc field. How is this done in TheBat? The list of addresses would be different all the time so creating a group of some kind is not an option. -- Pranav Current version is 2.00.6 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Suggestion for better message list view reading
Hi Leif and all, 1. AsI have privately stated to one of the list members, I believe in following list rules. What surprises me about this entire cut line issue is that I was not asked to insert one when I first posted. 2. snip As for why you (Pranav) believe the list is rude and unfriendly, please, by all means show us where. PL] Leif, you wrongly addressed me which has already been pointed out by other list members. I will not comment about the friendlyness or unfriendlyness of the list; I have been able to extract useful information from the replies to my questions and have been able to advance my learning about TheBat. 3. I did read the welcome message. (1) Firstly, I suggest that the heading terms and conditions should be changed to list rules. In the upper part of the message, the reader is told that the second section is about list rules but when the reader reaches the second section, the section heading says Terms and conditions of use for TBUDL (The RULES!) The words the rules should come first to make things explicitly clear. I did however read the conditions. (2) Point h says It is also a good idea to place a -- (dash dash space CR) on a clear line before your sig so that it is automatically excluded from replies. PL] The tone of the above sentence seems to imply that the cut line is not compulsory which is why I did not include it. -- Pranav Current version is 2.00.6 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Suggestion for better message list view reading
Hi all, A couple of tips I found to improve navigation in the message list view. I have used these tips with JFW v4.51.119. 1. I reclassified the message list view to a list view. The class name was TListView or something like that. 2. I added a custom highlight color after highlighting a message. I found that this improved JFW's responsiveness in the message list view. system configuration OS=windows 2000 all updates applied MB=Intel 865GDF processor=2.4GHZ ram=512MB. Insertion pointer sticking in certain messages
Hi all, While scrolling in a message with my arrow keys, I find that the insertion pointer gets stuck at a certain point in the message. Repeatedly hitting the up or down arrow does not seem to move the insertion pointer. My screen reader (JFW v4.51.119) keeps repeating the same line of text. The text of the message below that line is visible. I have varified this by using the mouse. The solution to the problem seems to be to click on the text below that line. I can then read the subsequent part of the message. The view is set to vertical splitter or something like that. Could this be the cause of the problem? If yes, then what view should I try? JFW [performs differently in different views
Hi all, I have found that JFW performs differently in different folder views. If I set my view to horizontal then jfw is very slow as in navigation among different mail boxes is very sluggish. If I however set the mail box to vertical splitter then navigation is fast. Has any one else encountered this problem? Re: Suggestion for better message list view reading
Hi Dennis, snip What is JFW? Why use Eudora on this list? Why no cut line? JFW is an abbreviation for jaws for windows. It is a screen reader that verbalizes the contentsof a computer screen. See http://www.freedomscientific.com for more information. At this point, I am still evaluating TheBat. My primary email client is still Eudora. What do you mean by a Cut line? Re[2]: Suggestion for better message list view reading
Hi Allen, snip Proper etiquette on this list is to have a cut line or signature delimiter. Your precede your signature with -- ( dot dot dash ). Most people on this list are, naturally, using The Bat!, and TB automatically truncates all text from the delimiter on down. Thanks for the explanation. I don't have a message signature so I don't think that I need a cut line. Pranav Current version is 2.00.6 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
