What does red envelope icon mean?

2004-08-31 Thread Rick Friedman
Simple (hopefully) question...

In the message list pane, what does a red (or pink) envelope icon
indicate?? It's the same icon as the normal unread and rewad envelope
icons, only red.

Matt,

Have you actually seen these addresses in your address book? Or are you

If it's the latter, then they may not actually be in your address book.
Instead, you may have autocomplete set to complete address from history
as well as address book. To check it out go to:

Options-Preferences-System

Does the Complete Addresses from dropdown box have History + Default
Address Book in it? If so, that is the problem. Change it to be

Sorry, Peter. I can't see you. I noticed that your picture is in the
latest rogues.zip file but your picture is not showing up in emails
you send.

In order to get your picture to be seen by others, they need to make
sure they have the latest rogues.zip file. Also, you need to do one of
two things (the first of which is preferred):

1. Place your roguemoticon in the X-Rogue header (instructions
courtesy of Leif Gregory):
You can do that with this macro:
   %SetHeader(X-Rogue,:your_handle:)%-
in your templates for this and other tb-lists.
However, only the macro won't do the trick.
TB'll say: 'Hey, that's no RFC822 header', so you'll have to
   define it as such:
Options - Preferences - Messages - Message headers - 'Add'
Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header
Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important)
   RFC header: X-Rogue
Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't)
Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor'
Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the
   header pane'

2. You can simply place your handle in your signature. I can see
that your handle is, :Peter_Ballantyne: Place that (including the
colons) in your signature. However, people who use the plain text
viewer to read their email won't see your picture. That is why method
#1 is preferred.

I can't get Roguemoticons to work

Hello all!

As of late last night, I am using TB! v2.12. I have just downloaded

work.

I unzipped it and placed the files (including the pdsf2.msl

since I couldn't find any instructions anywhere on where to put these
files.

When I open a message with the X-Rogue header (specifically, a message
from Roelof Otten) I don't see his picture.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AC behaviour. The folder view works as before, but if I open my
AC addressbook in my Group, it shows up also in my wife's group, and
AC vice versa. Switched back to 2.11.2 and everything works as before.

AC Can anyone reproduce this and tell me whether
AC 1. It's a new feature (unwelcome here!)
AC 2. Something's broken
AC 3. I need to do something different.

AC TIA

I find I have the same problem. It worked fine with 2.11.02 but now,
with 2.12, other groups see my address and I can see theirs. Also,
I have created some templates for use with certain people in my
address book. If someone in another group starts a new message to
someone who happens to be in my address book, their new message starts
with the template I set up!

This is a serious enough problem to perhaps send me back to 2.11.02.

Is there someway to avoid all this??

How to delete accounts?

2004-07-13 Thread Rick Friedman
Hi folks,

Currently, I have three different e-mail accounts setup in The Bat! I
want to eliminate one of the accounts but I can't find how to do it!
Nothing within The Bat! seems to allow me to delete an account. I'm
sure I must be wrong.

What am I missing?

TIA,

Rick

Re: How to delete accounts?

2004-07-13 Thread Rick Friedman
Thanks to all who pointed out how to delete an account. My actual
problem was that I was signed in using a group which did not have
administrator rights. The group was a normal user group which,
apparently, did not have the ability to delete accounts.

Once I signed on using a group with administrator rights, the
Account-Delete option appeared on the menu.

Again, thanks to all!

Actually, I have a few different, personal, email accounts which only
I look at. Myself and one other person can look at the business email.
I understand your point. My point is that I want to make sure that the
personal email is not visible to anyone other than myself.

RA What more are you looking to accomplish beyond this?

As it turns out, Marck Pearlstone showed me the way to do it by
creating users with privileges and user groups. It works like a charm.
:-)

RA PS. you should have a cut mark (a line containing just dash dash space on
RA it) at the end of your message

Yes, I've since learned. :-)

What is New Thread Sorting?

2004-06-28 Thread Rick Friedman
Well, the subject is my question. Under View-Message List Columns
there is a checkbox for New Thread Sorting. What does this do? I
have some folders which are threaded by reference. How does New
Thread Sorting affect it? How does it affect non-threaded folders?

Thanks in advance,

Rick

When starting The Bat!, I would like to be able to choose which

 Is this possible?

MDP Yes - absolutely. You can define users, groups, which accounts
MDP belong to which groups, which ones have passwords, and summon them
MDP from the command line.

MDP Check out Options - Network and Administration. The options you
MDP need are mostly there.

Thanks for the advice. Indeed, everything I needed to accomplish
setting up user profiles was in the Network and Administration area.

One thing though... when setting each account's privileges, I put a
check in the checkbox for each privilege I wanted the account to have.
Unfortunately, this seemed to be the opposite of what I truly wanted.
For example, if I put a check in the checkbox next to the option,
Attach files to outgoing messages, I assumed that meant I wanted the
account to be able to attach files. However, when attempting to send
an email with an attachment, a message was displayed saying that the
account was not allowed to send attachments. Once I cleared the
checkbox, the account *WAS* allowed to send attachments.

This seems a bit counter-intuitive... no?

MDP Yes, but the clues were there :-/.
