Hello TheBat TBUDL List Members!!!

.==[ Stanislav V. Mikov ]==
|
| The Bat! has an internal engine allows you to automatically replace
| strings wilt other strings when you are using HTML viewer. This means
| that you can, for example, highlight specific words using schema like
| "The Bat" -> "The Bat", or you can do any other useful
| or crazy things.
|
| In order to specify this substitutions you must to use regular
| expressions. Please refer The Bat documentation to watch out how to
| use them.
|
| In this program you can see two columns - "Find what" and "Auto
| replace with". In the first column you are must to specify some
| regexp, and in the second column you must to specify corresponding
| substitution expression. You can use subpatterns in such form: \0 \1
| \2 and so on.
|
| For example, if you wish to highlight phone 7-digit numbers, you can
| supply (\s)(\d{3})(\d{2})(\d{2})(\s) as the 'find what' and
| \1\2-\3-\4\4 as the 'replace with'. And so on

It's in polish, you must use f.e. POLTRAN to translate this page.

Re: I [don't] HATE this BAT-Feature - any help?`

2002-09-12 Thread Sebastian

Well, this is pretty weird!

I "accidentally" sent out SEVERAL emails with the wrong account by
just hitting the "reply" button in the search results.

Now I finally saw that you can just choose the account name, and I
thank you all for pointing things out - BAT is ok after all, hehe. ;)

I HATE this BAT-Feature - any help?`

2002-09-12 Thread Sebastian

When I run a search, and want to reply to one of the results, I
right-click onto it and say REPLY.

Now, the BAT just uses the account that I am in OUTSIDE the search,
and it does NOT use the account this mail actually went to.

Is this another one of the GREAT FEATURES or is there any way around
this?

THANK YOU,

Seb

Re: Cant BACKUP or COMPRESS with crashing

I had this Problem before, and what I did was install the new version
that just came out back then. It must be a bug in THE BAT, but since
there are just 10389489834 bugs here, I guess we have to suck it up
and re-install.

I at least could not find a workaround when I was unable to backup my
files, which of course is an essential function of a mail client... .

Sorry to not be of more help,

2 Problems - 1) Wordwrap 2) Exit...

2002-07-23 Thread Sebastian

Hi there. :)

I have two problems with THE BAT.

When I receive an email, it usually has all the word wrap at the
correct positions, so it is separated in several blocks, just like you
would expect it.

BUT: once I REPLY to that mail by hitting the reply button, the mail
that I "quote", i.e. first I write my stuff into the upper part of the
mail, and then there is this whole "original message..." stuff. Now,
the ORIGINAL message shows NO word wrap whatsoever, it's just
loong lines of text - is that normal???

Then, my second problem: whenever I exit THE BAT, it takes about 3
minutes, because it is "compressing inbox" - I UNCHECKED this option
though, what's going on?

THANK YOU ALL,

Sebastian. :)

Miguel, THANK YOU! It works great now, and I really appreciate the
work you put into this - WOW! :)

One thing though: how do I get Mailtraq to get NEW news? I got about
2,000 messages last nite from one newsgroup, but it doesn't seem to
get new ones - though it says "last collection at
whatevertimewas10minutesago" - is that normal? I have nothing to
download anymore into THE BAT.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you,

Sebastian. :)

PS: Also, I have a newsgroup that is downloaded (about 1,500
messages), but that I had not activated the gateway for when I first
started out. Now I have the messages but it doesn't forward them to my
mailbox - again, what am I doing wrong? THANK YOU!

Is BAT able to Auto-Complete TEXT?

Hey there. :)

I would like BAT to do a completion of my text as I write it.

Things that I have to write about 10 times a day, like my address

Again: I want to write "ZZZ" and BAT converts it into my address that
goes across 4 or 5 lines.

Same over here on Win2k/Sp2. No problem with the tabs in the search.

But then one question arises: I can tab to a next element but how can
I select one with the keyboard? I always use the mouse for that,

IMAP / TLS not working

Hi list,

Im trying to connect to an IMAP server via TLS at port 993. So I've

see that in the logfile and also sniffing my network adapter says
that it connects at port 143. Why that?

Re[2]: AW: Import Mails from Outlook2000

2002-01-08 Thread Sebastian

The problem with the RECEIVED date is normal Joerg, so don't worry
about that, you did everything right. What I did was just sort the
mails by CREATION date for a month or so, and after I didn't need the
older mails anymore, I changed it and now have it sorted by RECEIVED
date, which is of course more accurate for your work.

DvZ> If you or someone else ever _do_ bother and if you have Ultra Edit
DvZ> installed there is a macro to clean these received dates. It's a macro

David, I would be interested in this - how does it work?

Thank you,

Sebastian.

I will try to explain: I have a tracking number, that I need to copy
by highlighting it and hitting ctrl-c - then, when I try to PASTE it
into my internet explorer, it just gives me that half of the number
that was in the upper line, but nothing from the second line.

S>> Also, in HTML view I am not able to copy and paste certain strings,

DvZ> Copying works just fine. How do you want to paste in an (html)message?

See, it doesn't - I just want to copy a string from an HTML mail and
paste it into another program - it appears to just not copy anything.

Any input?

BAT's copy & paste capabilities POOR???

Hey there. :)

Is this a bug or is it a BAT "feature":

part from the first line, but omits the second line - why is that?

Hi Joerg - I had the same problem coming from Outlook XP.

One really bad thing was, that when I exported Outlook mails to the
msg format, TB did not see any kind of date or time from the mail, so
all mails were just there, without any way of sorting them.

So, my glorious solution: ;)

I put about 100 mails into one mail as attachments, right from
Outlook, then sent that to an email address.

>From TB, I used the POP account from the used email address and just
downloaded the big mail. A doubleclick on one of the attached mails
opened a window with all the mails listed with the correct date - I
just imported all those into my TB inbox.

Hope this helps,

Sebastian. :)

Wow, I thought everyone is all in love with the way BAT handles
things. I must say that I am not happy with the way many things are
handled. I am a BAT fan, which comes from the fact that Outlook sucks
really badly, and that I just like the fact that this tool is so
incredibly fast and loaded with functionality.

BUT: I think there is a point when things start to be a little bad,
for example this wrapping thing.

Next thing I really cannot stand is the fact that the programmers
spell Microsoft with a Dollar sign - I know, this shouldn't be a
problem, but come on: almost EVERYONE here uses Windows, and XP really
is an excellent OS - so much for that.

Problem is further, that they REFUSE to give the option of using
internet explorer's dll to show HTML content - are we back in stone
age? I just want the OPTION, I don't want it to be a preset, just an
OPTION - like John said, both camps can be satisfied if the
programmers wouldn't be so concentrated on the "technical camp".

I do not want to offend anyone by this, please don't feel like I don't
like BAT, I love it, it's just that there are certain things I totally
disagree with - hope everyone understands this.

Sebastian.

Not trying to start arguing but: how is it "WYSIWYG" when you paste

this is a helpful "control"... .

BAT's word wrapping abilities...

2001-12-29 Thread Sebastian

Hey fellow BAT users. :)

I have a question conerning the word wrapping.

Is it normal, that the BAT cannot wrap correctly? Whenever I paste a
text, it just keeps on going towards a few meters outside the right
side of my monitor - why can it not wrap it?

I was told by one of the programmers, that I would have to use some
keyboard combination, but that doesn't work out correctly all the
time, since I sometimes have certain formatted texts, that lose all
their formatting once I do that.

Any help on this? Is it THAT hard to create an editor that wraps
correctly?

Thank you,

Sebastian. :)

Hey there. :)

One thing that really annoys me with THE BAT is that it doesn't close

of my mails) and then replied to.

I do that about 50 times a day, so it really would be a great help if
that window with the original mail would just close - is that possible?

Thank you all,

I never had a problem like that, but, can you download files that are
that big with your browser? You should check with your IPSs POP-Server
admin.

Hi Roelof.

I looked into my logfile, and it only gives me the path to my temp

How can I take a look at what's on my server?

Thank you,

Hi Marck.

Wow, you are absolutely right - I just looked at the connection
details of one POP mail account, and it says: "could not store message
batxx.tmp" - how can I get this message?

Thank you,

Hi Marck. :)

Thank you very much for that input.

I turned the tool off, killed both the program itself-process, as well
as the agent process.

Then I hit the "check mail for all" button but nothing came - am I
doing something wrong?

Please let me know,

Okay, sorry, I wanted to say that I expect the virus to be in some BAT

Norton detects Badtrans Virus in BAT Temp-File...

2001-12-08 Thread Sebastian

Hey there. :)

I am new to the group, and I have one huge problem with the BAT:

Right now, the dear Outlook user community is sending out the Badtrans
viruses like crazy. I received plenty of them from various people, of
course none of them affected my computer.

Now, since last nite, my Norton AntiVirus agent detects exactly this
virus, a [EMAIL PROTECTED] - in my TEMP folder!

The filename that has this virus supposedly in it changes all the
time, and the file itself is never deletable. It's a temporary file,
that has names from BAT44.tmp to BAT98.tmp - all that.

What can I do?

I expect the virus to be in some email that is in my Outlook, but I
searched through everything, deleted every mail that was in the Trash,
nothing helped. What can this be?

Any help is gladly appreciated,
thank you very much,

Sebastian. :)

PS: Oh, and whenever I close THE BAT, the virus warnings go away, too!

I tried several times, step by step, to reproduce this problem, but it
didn't. No clue why.

impossible connection with 1.52c fixed

2001-05-07 Thread Sebastian Cano

Hi wise people,

  I noticed a problem with TB1.52c:
Using it in mode Workstation with TCP/IP, "Connect to the Internet
using local area network or manual connection", sending or receiving
anything was impossible. I got an error message each time, error
  633.

I closed The Bat! and ran regedit, and changed the data of value
"Use existing RAS connection" in HKCU/Software/RIT/The Bat!

previous value was 1 (in hexa) and I changed it to 0, it fixed the
  problem.

Hoping it will help anyone having the same problem...

Yes, I agree. The templates of a new folder should default to the
templates of its parent directory (or account templates if its a root
folder).

In addition, the guys at Ritlabs could add two buttons into the folder
properties dialog: "set templates from root" and "set templates from
parent folder".

Re[2]: Kill dupes

100% agree. Ritlabs could ask when you choose "remove dupes":

"
Do you want to
(o) keep first received message, or
( ) keep last received message

Override (this is an option):
[ ] keep read message if there is any
"

The above choice should be clear. The option overrides this choice,
wheter TB would wants to remove messages that are read. If the option
is checked, TB should not remove the read message but the other
messages. Comments?

PGP

2000-05-10 Thread Sebastian Busch

Hello TBUDL,

is it possible to sign my new messages with PGP, storing the signature
in an mail attachment instead of inserting it in the original message
text. (afair this "attachment behavior" is suggested behavior in rfc,
don't ask which).

Second, The Bat should also be able to scan for and verify signatures
that are contained in such attachments.

Outlook --> The Bat

2000-02-06 Thread Sebastian Ahmadi

Hiya BAT fans.

I worked with OUTLOOK 98 but not anymore. I don't have access
to the program anymore, only to my PST file, a file that contains all
the emails. How can I import them? Is there
something like a filter out there? Some emails I would really like to
read but I just can't because no tool knows the format.
Please help me,
thanks in advance,

Sebastian.

The program always asks me to add the key for the same sender. It is
so annoying. Is there anything I could do? Or do I have to wait for
the guys from RITlabs to fix that?

Thanks in advance,

Why is that an absolutely annoying overhead? PGP works best if
everyone has easy access to your public key and that is the best way
to do so. I don't think you have to wait more than a fraction of a
second more for your mail to download if it contains my public key.
The problem could be solved by the software we are using - software
wouldn't make our lives easier if we always had to adjust to them.
What about the other way?

Sincerely,

Sebastian.

PS: I'm not going to change the way I sign a message, why do you have

PGP Bug?

2000-01-25 Thread Sebastian Ahmadi

Hi BAT users.

I am using The BAT since version 1.38e. I installed PGP support (6.5)
and am happy with it. There is just something that keeps bothering me,
and it happens every time I decrypt an encrypted message (it contains
the sender's public key at the end). The program keeps asking me if I
want to import the keyset. Well, the first time I thought that would
be okay, but it does that EVERY time I am decrypting a mail. What's
that all about? Does anyone have the same problem? What's the
solution?

Alright, that's it for the moment.
Hope you guys can help me, thanks in advance,

Sebastian.
